Food was okay. catfish and shrimp was excellent. Big red Margarita cost more than a plate of food at $16.95 Service was so slow that the kid hosting the party lost his deposit around $150? They assigned only one server for thirty people. Server didn't bring ketchup for the fries and i had to hunt to get a refill once for my tea. Server was proactive during bill check time but i was still drinking tea. Im a dessert first person and ordered it first and it came last, when i was already full. the arroz con leche was kinda crunchy. And i had asked for recommendations. Server recommended it. Restaurant was crowded for a Sunday evening and parking lot is tight and close. No mariachis or game TVs in the area that we were seated at. read more

Wow! We came to visit an aunt that lives in this direction who turned 90 this week. We were looking for a good place for a good lunch and we came to Don Pedro for the first time in about 25 years. Breakfast here was good. I had the Chilaquiles (Migas), beans, and potatoes. It could have used some seasoning, especially salt, but there was a salt at the table and the salsa helped a lot. I loved the potatoes with peppers and onions. Very tasty! The homemade tortillas were delicious too. The prices are great and service was fine. It seems like a fairly large restaurant so they might can accommodate large groups. I can't wait to try lunch or dinner the next time I'm in town! read more

Went around 11 on a Saturday and did the lunch menu. I've been in the past and enjoy the breakfast menu. I got chicken Flautas and the chicken had absolutely no seasoning at all, just straight boiled chicken. My child got bean and cheese tacos and enjoyed them. The beans are flavorful. The wait was about 5 mins which was great. The environment is normally nice however on this day there was a large party that was extremely loud. Not just laughing loud but just talking loud, definitely ruined the experience. For what we got I do feel it's overpriced and the chances of us returning are slim. 08/01/2026 Consider LA GLORIA BEFORE COMING HERE. Had the worst experience today. I guess the smart head waiter thought it would be a great idea to place us in the empty party room while they cleaned and rearranged the tables and chairs. No consideration at all. I just wanted a quiet dinner. The waiters and waitresses dragged chairs and tables around, the screeching sound from dragging tables was done very loudly on that ceramic tile, they slammed dirty dishes into tubs. I had to get up and walk out of the room, I couldn't comfortably eat my dinner. We were the only 3 people in this large group room. I ended having to take my food togo minus the whole beans I never received. We weren't asked if we would like to move. They just laughed because I covered my ears. The flautas were cold with big chunks of chicken the corn fell apart. I asked for whole beans and the waiter never brought them even though he acknowledged that they were not on my plate. My husband was served old leftover chicken soup. I will not be returning. It's not as delicious as La Gloria!!! read more

Found this place when I was on the hunt for spurs shirts from street vendors . Came in on a Sunday early afternoon. Was immediately greeted by the hosts . Sat down in Luz's section . She came immediately. Ordered a bean and cheese taco with extra cheese & a beef puffy taco . Got my food quickly . It was good . Didn't know you had to request chips and salsa . Great service !! The restaurant has changed so much since the days of being just one, small room but, they have always kept it clean through each expansion. We dined in for dinner on a what seemed to be busy Sunday evening. The parking lot was pretty full but we found a space. Upon checking in we didn't have to wait too long even though the waiting area was packed with large parties waiting for a table. Food was great as well as the service. Shout out to the kitchen staff for getting our food out very quickly. The restaurant is older but kept up well. The restaurant is also loud for some reason. The food was delicious. I had Christina's Relleno and loved it. My pina colada was delicious. A little bit on the weak side, so I'd ask for a floater. The kids chicken was delicious, too! Tried a bit of the baby's food to make sure it had cooled down enough and it was BOMB! The decor was pretty interesting. We were seated near some sort of roadrunner statue. Might have been a chicken. I don't know, but it looked cool. Service was a bit on the slow side. Seemed like we were constantly waiting for the server to return to the table with drinks, refills, and the tab... especially after he dropped off the wrong tab and had already applied the gift card to it. I was a bit surprised that he didn't realize the tab he dropped off had 4 adult entrees with alcoholic beverages and our table was two adults and an infant. The guy was polite and professional, but just didn't seem to understand the cadence of checking on tables. It wasn't overly busy and they had plenty of staff who seemed to do well with their sections. My hubby ended up leaving with the baby because he got tired of waiting for the server to come back after dropping off the wrong tab in the first place. The service, atmosphere, and menu options are some of the best the city has to offer. You don't have to go to celebrate, but we find ourselves celebrating here as often as we can. The Parillada Nortena is meant for four adults, but it has enough for maybe 6 with still enough to take home. The meat is diverse grilled meats, including a little bit of sausage, vegetables, and chicken. The side stuffed pepper has melted cheese and chorizo. The borracho beans are like Abuelita's homemade. Very skimpy enchiladas with hardly any filling ie: cheese, onions, flat due to overheating in microwave , not enough beans, ( cheapest thing you can serve) very little salad for the plate prices, rice very minimal. I mean $ $48.50 for 2 Mexican plates, 1,iced Tea and 1, Lemonade is quite pricey, even if its separate tickets. I don't know how much more you can get from 2 people for a couple of Mexican plates but you're not going to get any more money from me. This was ridiculous, I grew up here in San Antonio, and if this is what the Restaurants expect from the customers you're going to have to re do your menus accordingly. Mexican food is supposed to be inexpensive, not supposed to cost your weeks salary to take out the family to eat. And when you do, you should be able to feel like you have eaten you're money's worth. If it's not profitable for your business, close the door and don't shake down the customer to pay the bills. Just wanted you to know how much it shows what you are doing. Decided to visit since we haven't been here in a while. We were greeted and seated right away despite the restaurant being busy. Our waitress greeted us and took our drink orders. I had a margarita on the rocks and my friend had a frozen one both drinks were perfect! I ordered the soft chicken tacos. They were filled with just enough chicken and drizzled with tomato salsa and sides of beans and rice. Our waitress noticed that we were celebrating a special occasion and treated us with a special dessert. TriI d to call in advance for my birthday, they said they don't take reservations and the entire party has to be there before they can begin the wait clock. I asked how long the wait is (on a Thursday evening) they said about 30 minutes. I haven't been here in years for that reason. You can go there and usually on a busy night the wait is a lot longer, around 75-90 minutes. There's also virtually no wait area aside from a few benches in the front. From what I remember, it's not worth the inconvenience, but I have not been able to eat here in years so I can't say if it's better or worse. 3/5 for the food 1/5 for the service read more
