this is more like a 3.5 stars out of 5 stars. We were randomly in the area to meeting up someone for home remodeling and wanted to get food around here. i know there is a small enclave of korean shops, which is interesting since i thought most of the korean shops are located in carrollton. apparently this place serves food that's more northern china/and korea fusion. anyways, we ended up getting two items. jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and the fried pork with spicy sweet sour sauce. After we placed our order, no joke, the food came out in like 3-4 mins. 100% they don't make it fresh, and i'm assuming in the kitchen they have everything ready to heat up. The jajangmyeon was really simple. We ended up getting the smaller size, and it was a lot for two people. They will bring it out separate (one dish for just the noodles and the other dish with the black bean with toppings). The jajangmyeon was really interesting, since it had A LOT of onions. prior jajangmyeon i've had didn't have an overload of onion, but i guess this is a different style? It was good and flavorful. I really enjoyed the fried pork with spicy sweet sour sauce. you have the choice between pork and beef, with beef being more expensive. The dish was definitely more than enough for 2 people, and we actually brought home leftovers. The shop is located in the corner and the surrounding area doesn't feel too safe.

flower bread, Jjajangmyeon, and spicy fried beef

Absolutely incredible food, beautiful ambience and amazing service! They were so friendly, and the food was so delicious. We had the flower bread, dumplings, Jjajangmyeon, and spicy fried beef. So SO good! Generous servings as well- 4 of us shared and we still took some home! Cannot wait to come back!

I went on the weekend a few hours before closing and was treated good with service, timely water refills, was a slow day, food came out timely as well. The noodles came separate from the pork and onion black bean sauce. Its a fairly even amount, typically there is ton more black bean then noodle ratio but this was even. Noodles were thinner then the ones I buy at hmart. Sauce was mildly sweet at most. Felt lacking flavor, and one dimensional. Sweet and sour pork was overcooked, and somewhat bland. A little pricier then I would like. But plentiful These two are some of my favorite dishes but I can just make it at home better.

Black Bean Sauce Noodles- pork meat was hardly evident.

First time here because I was curious because I had seen this spot in a video somewhere. First, they bring out onions and sweet rashes (cured in pineapple juice) to dip in oyster sauce...it was different, to say the least. We ordered the black bean sauce noodles for 2. The sauce has a smoky taste. The noodles were drenched so it got messy, maybe less of the sauce would be better. A bit more of meat and maybe some jalapeños would make this dish complete. The Fried Rice was perfect! It came with shrimp, crab and like 2 tiny pieces of octopus lol. The place was pretty empty during lunch hour, which seemed odd but it's also located in an out of the way area.

I've been to two of their locations in frisco and Harry Hines. Recently came to the Harry Hines location to eat and ordered the mixed jajangmyun for 2. I like how this place is typically consistent and the quantity is big enough and filling. I've been to this location a lot in the past with family to do course meals and it's always a ton of food and very filling. For those who haven't been here before, it's a Korean Chinese fusion resturant so don't expect a full Chinese type restaurant. There's tons of tables and it's fairly big inside. There's private rooms for bigger groups/ reservations for their course meals. You can call ahead and let them know what you want so when you arrive it's almost ready. Service is always good when I go. It's usually never super busy so there's not a lot of staff but there's this one guy who I always see and he's always great and even knows some Korean and he's pretty good!

DALLAS, TX / KOREAN-CHINESE CUISINE / 12-18-22 / LUNCH -The customer service was slow and non-existent. -The noodles were overcooked in both the jjampong and jjajang myun dishes. -The tangsooyuk pork was overly deep fried and rock hard. -The ggangpoongki chicken had very little garlic sauce, no seasoning, and very little flavor. -The jjampong broth did not taste right. It was definitely missing the Korean red pepper wok hei ("breath of the wok") flavors. If you have tried jjampong noodle soups in Incheon (South Korea), y'all know what I'm talking about. The high ratings on Yelp and Google reviews are deceiving. This is one Korean-Chinese restaurant you can skip!

First authentic Korean Chinese black bean noodles. I practically licked the bowls clean. Had the dumplings appetizer as well.

An intimate, mom & pop Korean Chinese restaurant serving jjajangmyeon, jampong, and tangsuyuk! I thought that the noodles could've had more flavor, but the noodle texture was very nice. The tangsuyuk or pork could've been more crispy as well. Overall, a pretty average place. I've tried Paik's as well and they taste similar.

After the impressive experience at the Frisco location, I decided to check out the original location and order take-out after a long work week. I decided to order gan jjajang, kkanpoong-gi and fried dumplings. I asked if they sell just a side of jjamppong soup, but they unfortunately did not, which was semi-upsetting, but okay. I got the food and came home immediately to try the food. The gan jjajang was A1 as usual -- so flavorful, and the noodles were so good. Because the gan jjajang as this oil, the sauce mixed with the noodles very quickly without much work. Definitely one of the best gan jjajang I've had in the States. The fried dumplings were good. I was very happy because it didn't taste like typical store-bought Bibigo dumplings, but they didn't give me any soy sauce which was fine. I just ate it with my jjajangmyun. The gganpoonggi was where it was a little disappointing. The flavor was very lacking, and it wasn't as sweet as I'd like it to be. I had high hopes because I really liked the spicy tangsooyook, but the gganpoonggi was just lackluster, which is one of the main reasons why I took off one star. Overall, Dong Bo Sung has great food. Though I will probably not order the gganpoonggi again (or maybe I'll try it when I dine in since take out also did cool down the food), I will definitely return for more jjajangmyun. The Frisco location also looks much cleaner, probably because this original location is older.

My mom and I really enjoyed this place. The black bean noodle and jjambbong (the seafood spicy stew?) were both amazing! I think this is the best place I've tried since moving to texas! I was initially surprised at their portion, but the food was even more amazing. The price is really reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. I don't live in Dallas but I would definitely go back to this place when I visit Dallas. 10/10 recommend!

This place would get 5 stars if the food was consistently prepared by Chef Hsu. On the days he's cooking, you'll get the best jjajangmyun ANYWHERE. But if he's not cooking, the noodles and the sauce are worst enemies of each other and do not meld together at all. Gganpungi (fried chicken in sweet and spicy sauce) will have gamey smell and the fry batter will be way too thick if the second-in-command is cooking. I wish Chef Hsu did better quality control of his staff because I really do love his cooking.

Revisited during covid - upping my rate to 5 star This time, ordered jjajangmyeon for 2, pork tangsuyuk, gochu japchae and kkotppang All really tasty!!!!!! Enough food for 6 people haha --------- Pros: generous portion, good enough taste, quick service Con: just good enough Jjajangmyeon Ordered 2Jjajangmyeon for 2 (), Spicy Tangsuyuk (), and Seafood noodle () for 5 people and had a ton of left over food. Next time, would only order 1 , 1 , and 1 other plate. Seafood stirfry noodle is not great..........

Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and the kind of dish you immediately start craving again a few days later. My only complaint has nothing to do with the restaurant but parking in Greenville can be a challenge. But the dumplings are absolutely worth the effort. If you're visiting for the first time, do yourself a favor and order the dumplings. I'll definitely be back for them again.

This place is absolutely made for a group outing, and we're already planning to come back with a group to take full advantage. The food was a delight. The Singapore noodles had this wonderful curry flavor that I absolutely loved, and the combo fried rice was just as satisfying. We also ordered the Peking duck (P1 on the menu). It was good, though not quite as flavorful on its own as we'd hoped. That said, once you load it up with the hoisin, cucumber, and spring onions, it all comes together beautifully. The bao buns that came with it were soft and delicious, honestly a highlight. We also sipped on hot jasmine tea throughout, which was the perfect, refreshing complement to the whole meal.
