I saw this place come up on my Instagram and instantly knew I wanted to try out. I love a place that offers Al fresco dinning. From the very beginning their welcome was super warm and inviting. The servers were very attentive and accommodating. I can't really point the kind of cuisine it is as there is an array of options. ALL WORTH IT! The ONLY thing that I wasn't too happy about was that the outdoor space did have any music. It would be nice to be able to hear what the inside has as the music seemed pretty good and current. I cannot for the life of me figure out what people find good about this place. I visited once before, and made the mistake of visiting again, forgetting about the first visit. The food was horrendously bad, and the service was subpar. Went for Restaurant Week, and ordered the sancocho as a recommendation from the server. The menu doesn't explain it well, but sancocho is a soup. You generally expect to get a spoon when you ordered soup, but this wasn't a priority, apparently. Only the chicken in the soup had any flavor. The rest was incredibly bland. Disappointing as a recommendation. For my entree I got the Surf and Turf. The surf side was pretty decent. The risotto was okay, and the vegetables along with it were pretty good. But oh my god, that steak. I feel so sorry for the poor cow that died to simply be defiled into a disgusting piece of supposedly edible shoe leather. The steak was completely inedible. Apparently the server didn't care when I told him that fact, he just quietly took the steak away. The chocolate tres leches was at least decent, but didn't make up for the rest of the disappointing food. Over a hundred bucks for an abysmal meal. I literally wish I had stayed home and just eaten instant ramen. read more

Nice fun, lively atmosphere. Come here for laughs, nice ambiance but don't expect too much from the food. We've tried many of the entrees and while completely serviceable, nothing has ever drawn us to come back (except for our friends loving the vibe here). Dishes either had dry rice, over or under seasoned, low quality cuts of meat (fatty, a bit tough) or were missing elements. Drinks were shockingly light and I was even served a lower quality whiskey when I decided to switch over to a neat top shelf bourbon. Likely a mistake but a novice bartender can have a ripple effect. Churros were greasy and of low quality, try the other desserts. Not sure what the hype is about besides it being a fun spot with a lot of birthday parties. Check it out but tread lightly through the menu! read more

Donjito is such a gem in Mamaroneck. The vibe is lively with colorful decor inside and a back patio that's perfect for summer nights. We started with the guac and it was super fresh and full of flavor. For dinner we had the Wild Alaskan Salmon and the Red Snapper--both were perfectly cooked and came with sides that really pulled the dishes together. The margaritas were outstanding, probably some of the best I've had anywhere. Service was friendly and attentive. The only positive thing I can say about this meal was that the steak was tender. However, these fajitas were made with a very strange tasting sauce that had soy sauce and sugar in it. They were barely hot. It did not taste like normal fajitas. There was way too much sauce, and the flavors were more Asian than Spanish or Latin. The staff was very inattentive. we were one of two tables for a long time, and the staff did not come back to check on us during the meal. The bartender and the waiter spent most of the time on their phones hanging out. When I asked about whether there was sugar or soy sauce in the fajita sauce, the waiter did not know what to say, and kind of shrugged and said there was soy sauce. He seemed amused that I thought they was below par. Our table and another table had to get up in order to find the staff to get help. The order took an extremely long time to get out of the kitchen. Service was terrible. It's very unfortunate because this was a great place at one time. I considered going back until a friend of mine, said her daughter went recently, and it was bad then as well, according to her. Not sure why a restaurant makes extreme changes to the recipes and provides bad service. The cute decorations don't make up for what really brings customers back again: service and food. read more

Even with a wedding party going on at the same time, the service was outstanding -- we never felt overlooked. I had a very nice meal here. For drinks, we chose a margarita, cucumber cooler and Moscow mule. Drinks were good, although my cucumber cooler tasted more like a mojito, way too much mint. No sign of cucumber taste. Drink menu is funny. Frozen drinks are $20 as opposed to regular drinks being an average of $13-$15. Frozen drinks require more ice than anything and less booze! Rum punch served in a pineapple is $27. Hmmm, severe pricing issues with cocktail menu. Cocktails are more expensive than their food. For starters, we ordered the shaved Brussels and mussels in a curry sauce. Brussel sprouts were crisp with honey drizzled over. Mussels were tasty in their curry sauce. We dipped the pita supplied in the curry broth. Delicious. For entrees, 2 of us got chicken fajitas and one ordered the jumbo broiled shrimp. The shrimp was crisp and delicious. It didn't disappoint. The fajitas would have been delicious, but the chicken was so dry. Extremely overcooked. I had to ask for salsa to put on it. Both fajita entrees were the same. Very disappointing. Chicken served in a sizzling plate continues to cook, but it was already over cooked and hard when I received it. Overall, loved both apps and the shrimp entree. Churros we're good. I happened to walk in last week because I was hungry and my child had music class next door at Bach2Rock. I ordered shrimp, Chicken , Beef and A Pulpo salad that wasn't on the menu. The food blew my mind, made well and fresh ingredients. So tasty and not dry. So today I had to order again. I used their app to place my orders , their app is much easy to use , their menu has a lot to choose from. I ordered the pernil, the Mrs loved the crispy skin, a good amount of food to keep you full, the rice and plantain was moist and not dry. I had the chicken taco, made fresh with a spicy kick. The burrito was awesome, moist and soft rice and juicy chicken, nicely wrap m, did not break apart. When I arrived to pick it up, it was already for me. My visit to this restaurant was amazing. From the drinks, to the food and the customer service. Everything was great. For appetizers I shared calamari which was flavorful and crispy. As well as the lobster mac and cheese which was very good. For dinner I had the red snapper and mushroom risotto. OMG!! It was so yummy. My guest had the surf and turf. Steak was cooked more medium well instead of medium but still delicious. The drinks were mixed to perfection. Kudos to the bartender that Thursday evening. Lastly, Greg our server was the best treat. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. His attentive service was the reason for this 5* review. Quality service for the best experience. Thank you Greg for everything. He was so pleasant and informative as to what to choose for an early lunch /dinner/..They have amazing Brussels sprouts as well as a terrific a Happy hour. All I can say is... Wow. This place exceeded my expectations over and over again with each plate of food that came out. The food was absolutely delicious and I cannot wait to come back to try more of the menu. First let's start with a nachos, the chips were so crunchy, not even one of them was soggy which can happen especially with tons of toppings. The coconut shrimp was the special of the day and they were huge... And so delicious. What I loved was they came with two different sauces, one was a tropical piña colada type of sauce and the other was a bit more spicy and on the plate for easy dipping. The appetizers were so incredible I couldn't wait to see what our dinner was like. The enchiladas were absolutely flawless... They tasted identical to my favorite Mexican restaurant but it's kind of far from me so it looks like this is now my new spot for them! We talked food, now let's talk service. Every single person that came to our table to help us was the most genuine and helpful. Our server Benjamin provided us with the most incredible service I think I have ever received. We were there to celebrate a graduation and when we let him know that he got us drinks on the house. He also was very informative of letting us know their special events and special happy hour pricing. He checked in on us continuously and made us feel so at home. I am seriously so grateful for his exceptional service. The inside decor is very cool... But I love the vibe of the outdoor seating area. There are really pretty dim red lights which set a really nice tone and make the photos look gorgeous as well which is a major perk for a foodie like me ;-) I seriously cannot wait to come back here and recommend this spot to numerous people. Benjamin also informed us that they do brunch so I will definitely be back for that as well. what an amazing jewel of a place. wasn't even open yet when i peaked in for a needed bloody mary and lunch after a 5hr red eye from L.A. and they said sure they were open and come on in. still getting ready to open they were as welcoming as could be, especially maitre'd Bruno who according to one of the others opening up had us made the first soup of the post summer season. vegetarian, especially because I am one. don't get this kind of welcome and service in L.A. it was an experience to remember, as was the great music, unforgettable ambience and atmosphere. could not recommend more. read more

I visited this place lastnight, and was pleasantly surprised. To be honest, I wasn't sure of what to expect, because the type of food wasn't clear. I saw tex mex, Japanese, West Indian, Dominican, and Puerto Rican influences on the menu, so I didn't know what to reasonably expect. Here are the deets... Pros: --we were lucky and came on taco Tuesday, so we got to enjoy some really amazing tacos for a discount. The Rita's are also $7 on TT! --we tried one of the restaurant week sushi rolls and OMG, it was sooooo good. Too bad it's not on their regular menu. It was beautifully plated and had a huge piece of grilled octopus included with it. --there was plenty of street parking (but that may have only been the case bc it was a Tuesday night.) --the decor is nice and the staff was pleasant. --neither of us are dessert people, but tres leches came with the restaurant week offering. The guava tres leches is a must! --overall everything we ordered as very good. The only thing I would change is, that soy sauce should still be offered along side the sushi, even though it's not traditional sushi. Cons: --although there was plenty of parking that night, I can see how Friday through Sunday would yield a different circumstance. --while the food was amazing, I think it should have been served about 5 degrees warmer. --the margaritas are not fresh. Unfortunately, they use a mix. This was my only disappointment of the night. We paid $35 for 2 reposado tequila margaritas made from a mix. No value here at all. The bar management need ms to address this. No point in eating quality food with bottom tier drinks. Overall: I look forward to returning! Hopefully they start making fresh margaritas. We were so pleasantly surprised by our experience! Stopped in for lunch on a random Thursday. The food was amazing! I had the fried red snapper which comes with asparagus and yellow rice drizzled in a lovely sweet sauce. My boyfriend had the city island shrimp, also very tasty served with Caribbean fried rice which was delightful. There were small bits of plantain and veggies in his rice...sooo good!! Lost in Mamaroneck and we needed food and saw the great reviews of this place. This Spanish fusion restaurant does everything right. I was thrilled with how gracious and prompt the staff were in meeting our needs. The Seafood Mofongo was a fascinating blend of plantains, yucca, and sweet potato combined, which made it far more moist than a typical Caribbean mofongo--how creative. They forgot my shrimp but they quickly brought some seasoned shrimp for me to add to it. The attention to flavor, presentation, and quantity were all worth the price. New York City quality restaurant in a small town. Fantastic. We will gladly get lost there again. read more
