Shout out to Don's Auto Ade in Warrenville, Illinois. Yesterday an alert light came on in my car. It looked like the brake alert so I drove straight to the dealer. They said it was the tire alert. They looked at the tires, checked the pressure, and told me all was well. They said the alert would go off soon. Today the alert was still on. I called Don's Auto Ade where I bought my tires and they fit me into their busy schedule. They found a nail in my tire causing a slow leak. They quickly fixed it. While they fixed it I enjoyed their waiting room filled with snacks, comfy couches, tv, magazines, and clean restrooms. Everyone that works there takes extra time to make sure you know what is going on with your car. The prices are very reasonable. I also do all my oil changes at Don's. read more

Attached is the email I received out of the blue asking to take my business else where. I have been a regular customer and always paid a fair price. I never received or ask for free services, even though Sam and I were friends. HOWEVER, I saw first hand that Sam does not demonstrate professional morals and behaviors, and allows his personal life affect the work place. I NO LONGER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, Don's Auto Ade, for car repair services. I did not violate any policies, steal from the company, or take advantage of our friendship by asking for free services. So please explain, why I am being asked to find another mechanic because of Sam's personal issues? Sam is not emotionally stable. He would rather be unprofessional, lose business and money, than do the necessary repairs on the cars to ensure they are running safely and properly. He did not like when people shopped around for cheap deals to save a buck and went to multiple mechanics. I did as he requested since he was a friend, I trusted his work, and respected his work ethic. After the lack of respect from him, and harassing calls from his wife, I do not view him in the same way. I do not trust him to work on my car due to being distracted. I do not think he is focused on work while at work, but instead multitasks.He will fix cars while texting on his phone about the stress of his personal life. Good, fair, and honest. Always willing to communicate, visibly shows you the damaged parts and explain the problem. Always willing to work with me, answer my questions, and listen to my concerns. I never have had to question their work or their ethics. They offer the Good Year Credit card as payment which offers six months no interest, if you pay it off on time. We purchased very expensive tires for both of our vehicles. After a couple of months, we noticed all 4 tires on both vehicles were losing air. I contacted Don's and asked about that. The gentleman at the counter said that we we were making the mistake if inflating the tires to the factory recommendations because those ratings were designed to give the car a better ride but at the same time, would ruin the tires rapidly. he said we had to inflate to 40psi per tire (factory suggested psi, 32psi). I did not agree with him about the psi issue and that there was another reason why they were losing air. As soon as I said, did you properly prep and seal the tires, he became very upset. After his arguing with me, said that he would re-seal the tires at $35 per tire! I took one of the cars to another dealer and talked with them about the tires losing air. I did not mention anything about Dons. They could tell the tires were new and immediately said they would bet they were not properly sealed. I left the car so they could pull all 4 tires and reseal if necessary. Sure enough, the tires were installed without any of the old sealer scraped off with no signs of new sealer! Now I have to take my other car in to get them done as well. Fortunately, they were cheaper than Don's to do the job! So, Don's completely ripped us off as far as properly installing 8 tires, argued when questioned about it, and then wanted to charge to take the tires off and re-seal! I will never return to Don's for anything! read more

Two days after having my oil changed at Dons Auto Ade, my wife informed me the oil light was on. I pulled out the oil stick and found no reading. I ended up adding 2 1/2 quarts, and then decided to look under the car. Oil everywhere! the plug was not tightened. Since this was my first visit, it will also be my last! Trust.. the most useful word in car repairs, if you can't trust the place working on your car you shouldn't go there. Don's Auto Ade earned mine years ago when I moved here and have never let me down. My car has given them a run for their money for one issue, but Sam and the guys found the answer even Ford couldn't with their recalls. The place is clean, the guys and Gals are friendly as heck.. they will explain everything to you and are fair in everything they do, from the service to the cost. And always helpful in getting the rebates or discounts available. It's easy to become a regular at Don's.. OK..maybe the coffee ain't the best.. but it's a service shop.. not a coffee shop.. haha! I called Don's Auto Ade when my brakes started howling. My usual place could not get me in for a week and I felt I shouldn't drive the car any more without breaks. Although they didnt really have an open appointment for a few days, Craig said bring it in in the am and we will work on it. They called me with prices and other things that needed to be done. They completed the work in a timely fashion. Sam did the work but everyone there was so friendly and nice and the price was so good. I've been going to Don's for 15 years after my previous mechanic failed to solve a problem with my truck losing power and stalling after multiple expensive visits. Don's came highly recommended by a handful of family friends, so I took the truck in and they told me I needed a tuneup. I was instantly suspicious as I'd read a few articles prior that at many mechanics, tuneup was slang for charging you a lot of money to fix a lot of things that aren't wrong, but given the money I'd spent already, I gave them a shot. Their tuneup fixed an issue that my previous mechanic had spent a lot of time and a lot of my money to fail at solving. Unfortunately, 6 months later my truck was totaled, but every vehicle I've gotten since has been checked and serviced pretty exclusively by Don's, and I've always been completely happy. Why am I writing a review 15 years after the fact? I was rear ended a few weeks back and need to get a quote on the body work, so I called Don's for a reference and then checked that shop out on Yelp. I figured that while I was here I might as well leave a review for the shop that's been taking care of me for 15 years, and as you would imagine, if I've been going back for that long they're doing a damn fine job in my book. In related news, my roommate has ditched his former mechanic for Don's as well. It might take you a day or two to get in if they're busy, but I'm not going anywhere else. read more

My mother had her brake lines fail with brake fluid leaking everywhere and almost total loss of braking. After the repair was done incorrectly at another shop and she found brake fluid leaking again in her driveway the same day she picked up the car, she took her car to Don's Auto, since they came highly recommended by a friend. They replaced the faulty brake line fitting, properly repaired the brake line connectors, and flushed the system. My mother was extremely pleased with how kind and professional the employees were there. They were shocked at the poor quality of the prior repair and fixed everything properly. They only charged her a small amount for the initial diagnosis as she is on a limited income as a disabled senior citizen. They put her mind at ease and she felt confident about their services and could not have been happier. read more

I have been driving for 20 years now and the ONLY place I keep returning to for car repair and maintenance is Dons. There are great people there and they have always been up front and honest with me. They tell me what's wrong, give me my options with estimated pricing and then it's up to me what gets done. I've brought in an SUV in the past where Sam looked at it and point blank said "take it to the dealer, they need to cover this under your warranty." Not only did he then go to the Internet and find and print out the exact problem with my car (I'm no mechanic so that helped a lot) so I'd be prepared for the dealership looking at it, I was not charged for the quick diagnosis. When I have said in the past I have limited funds for car repairs they have been incredibly awesome about figuring out the most affordable option for me while keeping me safe on the road. From a recommendation of a friend, we began using Don's Auto Ade last year for our auto service and maintenance needs. We have had nothing but fast, efficient and friendly service and have been very satisfied each time we have brought our cars into the shop. On a recent visit 3,000 miles away from home, we needed some auto service. Unfortunately the first shop we brought our car to, we felt like we were being taken advantage of again.
