Besides that, the Cross Creek steak is probably the best in all of Las Vegas, juicy inside with a salty charred outskirt, and the mushroom is an excellent fit. 3.7 stars. Went to Dons Prime. while checking out the new digs at Fountainbleu. I'm sure they were still working out some kinks, but there was some hits and misses. We were promptly sat. The dining room was a bit bright and really didn't set the vibe we expected. We ordered the signature table side cocktail and the smoke jumper. We were told that they could NOT do anything table side due to not being properly trained. For the smoke jumper, we got the cocktail and they didn't don't smoke it. We asked about it, and they said they weren't up and running with the smoker yet... Wish we knew that before ordering the drink! As disappointing as the cocktails were, the ice was the star of the show!! Clearly, pure amazing ice!! The bread and butter was amazing!! We had the snake river wagyu strip ($100) and grass fed filet ($75). The wagyu strip was small but very good. The filet had a burnt crust and very dry. Also had the wedge and whipped potatoes. Both were okay, nothing to get too excited about. The service was attentive, but they were a little clueless on items and other things. They kept saying they needed to ask. We stayed here for our stay-vacation for my wife's birthday. We tried Don's and had amazing food/service. Everyone was highly attentive/responsive to their diners. The breads were delicious but had to pace ourselves for the other items. We had their steak tartar, "colossal" (really regular/standard size) stone crab 1lb for $40, dry-aged porterhouse, and asparagus. Everything was cooked to perfection. Porterhouse was cut table side. We would definitely come back for another special occasion. We sat in the back but was a bit noisy to have a conversation due to the types of people there and not the fault of the restaurant. Service was on another level, I never had to ask for anything and whenever my glass was half full or near empty someone was over topping it up or asking if I would like anything else. Ambiance is really nice, it's a clean and very fancy atmosphere. The restaurant has a very modern look and feel and has space for all sizes of parties. He was swift with refilling our beverages and boxing up our food. The sign of a truly good steak is when you don't need any condiments or dipping sauces. And these did NOT disappoint. The steaks were divine. The filet had a thin, gently crispy top layer and the wagyu was immensely savory. This was first class all the way. Everything was tender and went down easy. if you want to share a bathroom with men, then I say go for it went into this restroom after spending $800 and to find the restroom with pee all over the floor toilet seat up, and you don't get to choose between men and women's bathroom. My boyfriend was at the Fountainbleau for a Doctor's conference and he took 3 of his medical team to Don's for dinner. The aambience was great. VERY OLD STYLE Chicago. I had the roasted chicken which was packed full of flavor. My boyfriend split the porterhouse with a co-worker. It was cut and sliced up table side. Another person got the lamb chop which he claimed is the BEST MEAT he's ever eaten. We order some sides to share and it was perfect. The service was on par. The food and ambiance were great! I gave less (minus) one star because I ordered the $185 crab legs, but didn't finish them all. Of the 4 legs that came out, I had 1.5 legs left along with 2 end pieces of other legs. Courtney asked to bag them for me - I accepted. She came back with only 1 leg. She completely tossed the other half along with the 2 end pieces I had left of the other legs. I asked her what happened to the other pieces, she said that was all that was left. I guess what's left of someone's food is subjective. I didn't bother to argue because I had no visual proof to provide her what I actually had left on my plate to bag. We chose Don's Prime and made a reservation for 7:15 (earliest available since they open at 5). We arrived at 7 and weren't seated until almost 7:45. They had plenty of staff and didn't appear to be overly busy. We endured the hard sell on the 32oz waygu ribeye and opted for the filets. The service was slow and a bit sophmoric. The food was marginal. They managed medium rare okay, but I ordered mine Pittsburgh. With that said, my Pittsburgh was medium rare... and not a server in sight. Staff did stop by to check on us 3/4 of the way through the meal, around 8:45. I've eaten at many steak places in this town and across the country; I won't be returning to Don's Prime. read more

I am giving three stars because the hostess was not friendly (first impression) and the food was just okay for us. We are huge steak eaters and have eaten some amazing steaks before and the filet here was just okay, not seasoned and dry. The server we had was amazing she was on top of everything and she deserves five stars. Cocktails start at $23 each and none of them seemed appealing so I opted for a margarita which looked pretty, but was very watered down. The interior is beautiful inside and decorated very nicely. Dons Prime steak is hard to rate. I believed the resort rule of using the $150 at one place and all at once had me overindulge and once you get blotted you enjoy the food less. Started off with unusual breads. One was a pretzel stick bread the other was a combo monkey bread/.croissant. I had the strip steak. It was ok but I have had better a different steak houses. Sides were asparagus and potatoes au gratin. I am used to thin asparagus but these were large and fat. I believe the thin asparagus is more tender. The potato au gratin was full of cheese and heavy cream like sauce. It could if used potatoes and less of the other ingredients. So I was a bit disappointed but it was ok. The steak differently was not one that melts in my our mouth. Once again I say this restaurant is ok and is an attractive place but I will pass on it next trip. read more
