We went for a business dinner, originally a party of 8 which grew to 11 right before our reservation. They were extremely accommodating and quick with a table reset. Food was amazing, highlights were the mushroom & onion soup, truffle risotto and the crab polenta. Sommelier gave us a great recommendation for wine as well. Over all a great experience. We dined here Sunday night to celebrate my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary. We're locals but we were joined by her cousins and brother from CA, so 6 of us. I left a message on their VM about 430 pm to request a table with a little privacy. Upon checking in at 7, we were shown to a table for 4, which they added 2 seats on each end to "accommodate" 6 persons. It was really upsetting and disappointing and actually offending that they would seat 6 adults at this table. The table next to us was a table for 2. The distance between our table to next was no more than 2 feet......so much for privacy. And NO, the place the restaurant was not full. I wanted to leave but I didn't want to ruin her night. I asked the server to move us and she immediately commented that she was glad I asked because she knew the table was TOO small for 6 people. Whoever thought that adding 2 seats to a table for 4 to seat 6 was OK, should be fired. The Tomahawk and New York strip was average. So was the Filet mignon. We ordered 2 Halibut which was very dry and chewy. The French fries definitely below average. The side spinach was very rich and creamy. The side mushrooms were really good. The dinner bread and pretzels was probably the best tasting food on the table. Our server sharelle was very good. She has a great personality, too. read more

I can't speak more highly about a steakhouse than Don's. I went there with my partner the other day and we were blown away! To start, I had the cocktail, The Candidate, and it was refreshing and went perfectly with the Dry Aged 22oz Bone-in Ribeye, which was cooked medium rare to perfection. My partner had the 9oz filet and it melted in our mouths. We got two sides, potato gratin and Mac and cheese. If we could go back and pick just one because two was too much food to share, we would choose the gratin because it's the best of both worlds. The prices were normal for a steakhouse on the strip, especially a gorgeous spot like in the brand new Fontainebleau. I really wish we remembered our servers names, but the duo was fantastic. The steps of service were phenomenal and they didn't miss. There's nothing negative to say. We even walked in on a Wednesday without a reservation. We stopped by Bleau Bar afterwards to have a couple shots. The entire time at FB that evening was really enjoyable read more

My husband and I come to Vegas a few times a year and have dined at really amazing steakhouses, both on and off the strip. I had heard good things about this restaurant so we tried it out. The interior and the decor are beautifully done with a great vibe, and cool bar. We had an 8:00 reservation, and arrived just a few minutes before. But after we checked in, we had to wait another 20 minutes before being seated. While that's not a big deal, the hostesses did not say anything hospitable to us like offer us to sit at the bar and have a cocktail while we waited or tell us how long we could expect to wait. The bar itself, which is circular, looked completely full from the entrance and without walking to the side or back of the bar, we could not tell that it was half empty. But the hostess should have known that and said something. It would have been nice to know. 20 minutes later, we had been seated and got water. So far so good. Our waiter comes up, introduces himself to us and proceeds to explain, for the next 5 minutes, almost every single item on the menu. This seems nice but it was so unnecessary. Tell me where everything is on the menu (Appetizers are on the left... steaks on the right...), and what the specials are. Tell me what kind of steaks you have and where they are sourced. But you don't have to explain to me what a wedge salad is. After looking at the wine list, we were amazed at how overpriced it was. Like, egregiously. The cheapest wine by the glass was a Pinot noir for $25.00. The next cheapest red was $48.00 - per glass. The bottles of wine were nothing short of absurdly marked up. We looked around the dining room we were in and even though it was full, only one other table had wine. With those price points, it did not surprise me to see only water glasses at almost all the tables. At a steakhouse. That's a mistake. Nonetheless, we ordered two glasses of wine. They then brought out their bread offering, which was a Parmesan pull apart bread, and two pretzel breads. Pull apart bread was good but a little messy to handle. Pretzel bread was meh. We started with wedge salads, and ordered the 12 oz filet, gratin potatoes, mushrooms, and asparagus. Wedge salads came out, after about 10 minutes, but we still had no wine. We finished our wedge salads and still no wine. Had to flag down the kid filling water glasses to get the wine. Not great. I can put up with this behavior at Chili's but not at a steakhouse that I'm paying hundreds of dollars to eat at. There is a different expectation, and it was not met. As far as the wedge salad goes, it said it came with a buttermilk bleu cheese dressing but what we got tasted more like a mustard vinaigrette. It was not bad, but it was not buttermilk bleu cheese. The salad was overdressed and the lettuce was wilted. Steaks came out and were very good. Perfectly cooked, nice crust. The asparagus was boring (grilled with some parmesan cheese crusted on top), the potatoes were good but not overwhelming or memorable. The mushrooms were fantastic. The restaurant is larger than it looks from the bar area, but the bathroom has only two toilets, and is unisex. I don't care about the unisex part, but I was taken back by how there were only two toilets for such a big restaurant, which caused people to have to wait in line in the back dining room. I know there are probably bathrooms in the casino, but I should not have to leave the restaurant to hoof it to the casino to use same during dinner. Finally, there is no dress code here and some customers presented like they should at this scale of a restaurant, but we also had a group of teenage or college aged men wearing t-shirts and shorts. Again, that's fine if this were Black Angus, but it's not. Probably won't be going back anytime soon. There are too many better steakhouses in Vegas. Will be interested to see if any changes are made in the next year though. read more

I've eaten at a lot of steakhouses in Vegas and I think this is one of the best. Honestly. Fantastic meal, with great service, in a traditional style steakhouse with some modern updates. To start we both had the squash soup which was really flavorsome. I then had the wagyu cheeseburger which was excellent, and my partner had a filet mignon, cooked perfectly "black and blue". The fries are amazing. Crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The potato au gratin was delicious. We ended with sticky toffee pudding which looked amazing and I'm told tasted amazing too. I had a couple of scoops of ice cream. Honestly it was a perfect meal, with a great choice of cocktails, wines by the glass or bottle. One thing I really appreciated was that my gluten free needs were easily taken care of. There were still plenty of options for me, and they even brought out gluten free bread too. It was fine but the regular bread looked absolutely heavenly. Like focaccia, but presented like panettone. I was very tempted to try it, but I'm told it was amazing. This was a total amazing experience and I scored major points bringing my wife here to celebrate her birthday. Our service was excellent (thank you Angel and Christian) both were helpful and friendly, Angel gave us suggestions that were very helpful. We also had a chance to talk to the manager and he was very proud of the restaurant and the folks there. Now the food .... Crab cakes were a must, best we have ever had. My wife had the Cross Creek Ranch filet and I had the Dover Sole. Both were prepared perfectly, and tasted fantastic. We also got the mashed potatoes and mushrooms which were also some of the best ever. They brought out a cheesecake and the chocolate cake for dessert ...also among the best. I tacked on a one night stay at Fontainebleau after three at the Encore this week. Decided to reserve a spot at Don's Prime while there and am I ever glad I did! This restaurant is hitting on all cylinders after being open only a short time! The service is spot-on, coordinated, attentive without being obtrusive. These folks know exactly what they are doing and did I mention this jewel has been open less than three months?!? The menu has so many choices, it took me a bit to decide. I landed on a fantastic cocktail, the Hunted Prey (contains Fernet and I'm a fan, so knew I'd like it). The crabcake with a basil sauce followed. I have no idea how that crabcake held a shape because there was no discernable binder. The sauce was delicious as well. Have to mention the bread service here. A wonderfully thin soft pretzel stick and the black pepper parm pull-apart bread with butter disk. WOW! I will spend a good bit of time trying to replicate this pull-apart bread! I did the unthinkable (to many) and ordered a filet! It was served with a beef tallow-poached king trumpet mushroom and I had a side of the asparagus gratin. The steak was perfectly cooked and had a lovely crust. All fantastically delicious. No room for dessert sadly, but closed on a glass of amaro and left very happy! There was a mixup on a drink order and service staff deducted it off our check without hesitation. Being relatively new a minor hiccup is understandable. But the manner in which staff took immediate action was impressive. Steaks were cooked perfectly to our expectations and sides were delicious. Staff were attentive. The manager stopped to introduce himself and to make us feel welcomed. The sommelier is a level three, pleasant and knowledgeable. Here is our test: when we leave a restaurant do we ask ourselves, do we look forward to our return? Our answer for Don's Prime was an enthusiastic YES!
