These were just disappointing. My husband got himself a cinnamon roll that was dry and smothered with frosting. I've not seen him not finish a cinnamon roll until now. He got me some donut holes and I ate one and tossed the rest. Not worth the calories. So dry and zero flavor. It's too expensive to taste like yesterday's leftovers. read more

We stopped twice on successive days. 1st day we were admittedly late (11:30) and not so late on day two (09:30). Totally closed up on day 1, a guy still at the counter on day two, but all sold out. Great place but I'm so disappointed they stopped making my favorite- the date nut roll which is misnamed( maybe that's why it didn't sell well?) , there's only 1-2 dried dates inside. It's a fried cinnamon roll with either white, chocolate or maple icing plus chopped pecans on top. In the Midwest we called them Persians. read more

Donut Haus is located in Estes Park within the Sinclair gas station shop on the way to Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) if you're coming from the southeast. My friend and I were a bit confused because we only saw the gas pumps when following GPS but just go to the back of the gas station pumps and enter the building. We decided to stop by to get our donut fix in prior to hiking at RMNP and we are glad we did! The donuts tasted fresh and were nice and soft without being too sweet. Great spot for some fresh donuts! It has become our tradition to stop in and grab some treats from Donut Haus before heading into Rocky Mountain National Park. The glazed is phenomenal! I also really like the yeast donut with sugar on the outside. A few others haven't been the greatest, but still tasty donuts all around for really affordable prices. These are pretty darn good donuts. I ordered a dozen standard donuts - glazed, maple, chocolate, powdered, and old fashioned. All above average except the powdered. I think the guy said getting a dozen was the best deal because it was like getting two of them for free - no idea what they cost individually but I just couldn't give them a 5 because with tax and tip my total was almost $30. I would expect that with some specialty donuts but for standard styles that was quite a bit. Just know going in you are getting good donuts - but they are a tad pricy. read more

Before they moved it was a childhood favorite. They've changed up a few things since I was a kid, and the prices have certainly gone up, but some things remain delicious. My all time favorite doughnut is the cheesecake doughnut. It's a raised glazed bun with a cheesecake topping that is to die for! We splurge when we go up to Estes and now I get to pass along these nostalgic flavors to my own kids. Plain raised glazed is my next favorite, followed by the apple fritter, chocolate glazed, and cherry glazed. Service is quick, so have your order ready because I'm sure there will be a line behind you. The Donut Haus is now located in the Sinclair gas station, but still has a loyal following of locals and tourists alike. There's nothing fancy about ordering doughnuts from a gas station, so ambiance is lacking, but they do their best by providing a few tables inside and picnic tables out back. I would personally take them to go and drive somewhere with a view of Rocky. I hope you enjoy this Estes favorite. I wish their phone number and website worked. We used to be able to order ahead and have our box waiting. Alas, some good things don't always last. We were warmly welcomed despite squeaking in right before the noon closing time and got some very tasty donuts for a hiking snack. The glazed raised was solid all around, and the cake donuts had well balanced texture & flavor. Rarely does a 4-star review reflect disappointment, but I came with inflated expectations: this place is on lists of best donuts in the state and even country. And I'm sure I'll stop in again, they are indeed substantially better than what you get at those big chains, and it is all the more delightful considering the gas station location. But in the last 5 or 10 years, the donut world has seen a surge of craft, I'm just not sure this one is worth the hype. read more

The second I saw someone post a cheesecake roll from here on my Instagram feed, I knew I needed to get one when I got to Estes Park. Their hours don't work great for us because we like to hike in the morning and then come back to eat. Since they're only open from 6am-12pm, we had to stop by before we left for our hike. Covid-19: they have strict directions of where to walk and stand inside. I'm not sure how much good it really does since it's in a gas station and none of the gas station employees wear masks. We got a raspberry fritter, a cheesecake roll, and a maple frosted nut roll. All of them were delicious. My favorite was probably the cheesecake roll closely followed by the maple frosted nut roll. We're planning to get up and leave earlier for hiking the next couple of days, but if the hours work out, we might be back again. I have my eye on one of the pinecones. read more

I am in love with the donuts from Donut Haus. My wife and I shared the Raspberry Fritter, Cheesecake Roll, and the Maple Nut Roll. I would get every one of them again. If you put a gun to my head and asked me to rank them... I would say the order goes Maple Nut Roll, Cheesecake Roll, followed by the Raspberry Fritter. I'm also impressed by how Donut Haus is handling COVID-19. They are wearing masks and requiring masks. Their floor is clearly marked so that people stand 6 feet away. We have been here several times over the years when on vacation. This place hasn't been the same since they moved into the gas station. The past few times they don't have really anything unique or special, the donuts are ok but again not special. Blueberry cake is good, the choc cake is average, hubby tried the cheesecake donut and cinnamon roll- just soo much sugar. According to the locals this is the legit spot for donuts in town. Being located in a gas station is an interesting choice, but the fresh, high quality donuts have you forget about that. We arrived around 9am and they were almost sold out. We saw people all over town with boxes of these donuts. We got the raspberry fritter and it was delicious. Crunchy in the outside and nice and soft on the inside. It was sweet, but not too sweet and the raspberry added some nice tartness. The locals told me that they always make their dough fresh every morning, unlike some other donut shops in town. Best donuts in Estes for decades - hands down. Although the location has changed due to construction and the addition of the loop, the donuts are just as fresh and delicious. Even though they were sold out of a lot of their stuff, we were able to snag the last Apple Fritter and some Blueberry Cake Donuts. The people manning the shop told us about how they were in a different location for 40 YEARS! but then their location got burned down. The donuts were INCREDIBLE. I love cake donuts and have found myself disappointed by a lot of places but this place did not disappoint. All the donuts were so soft and delicious, and most of them cost about $1-2 each.
