I love visiting donut shops when vacationing or even just driving through cities for road trips. We were staying at the YMCA of the Rockies for the week and this donut place was highly anticipated as I looked it up before we even left. It was hard to choose from the specialty as there were lots of options although they were very similar. We got two dozen donuts as we had 12 adults plus children in our party. I will start by saying the people that were working were very nice and extremely patient as my sister and I tried to make our choices. Most of the people in our group prefer yeast donuts to cake, but after tasting many of them (we pretty much just played Donut Graveyard) I wish I would have gotten more cake kinds because they were very good. The reason my rating is four stars instead of five is twofold: 1. My favorite donuts are old fashioned, and thiers were slightly disappointing compared to how good most of the other ones were as well as other old fashioned ones I have had. 2. Their pecan nut roll was way too sweet. Maybe it is because I got the one with white glaze instead of chocolate. But it was just too much. The donuts are okay, if you can find the place or any donuts to eat. The location on the internet needs updated to state that they are located in the back of the Sinclair Gas Station. Also we showed up fairly early and there were about 4-5 kinds to choose from. No iced donuts, except some cake ones. Was looking forward to some good, fresh, donuts, but only got one because of such poor selection. Definitely recommend calling and asking what the variety is before you go. read more

Best. Local. Donuts. Ever! I came across Donut Haus on my way to Rocky Mountain National Park on Saturday. I was craving food but wanted something on the smaller side and that's when my boyfriend pointed out Donut Haus. It's a small house on the corner of the road which can take some driving maneuvering if you miss the parking lot but I knew we had to make it work. My first sign this place was legit was the line of people out the door. That's always a good sign right? Right! Once we parked and got in line it was very clear that this is a local spot. The woman we talked to in line raved about how amazing this place is and how she's been coming here for over a decade, however it's been here much longer than that. Another good sign! Once we got closer to the door, our mouths began to water. The aroma of freshly baked donuts immediately hits you and you just start craving everything! Finally it was our turn to order and we decided to split a couple of different donuts to try. We ordered an apple fritter, pumpkin spice donut, and a cinnamon sugar donut. And wow did it hit the spot! My favorite was the apple fritter which was flavorful and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The pumpkin spice also was made perfectly and had great flavor though was smaller compared to the apple fritter. But honestly there's so much to choose from, I'll have to come back to try out more flavors! Donut Haus was the perfect way to start our hike at RMNP! I would highly recommend it to others looking for a small snack/breakfast or something to satisfy their sweet tooth. Although the line was out the door, I felt like it moved pretty quickly. Echoing the choir. Minus the very odd setup (in a gas station ), we were wildly impressed and wanted one of everything. My 16 month old all but lost her mind looking through the glass case of plump donuts. We did not experience a line or them being out of donuts despite what other reviews mentioned and we came at peak time (8am Saturday). This place has some of the best donuts I have ever had. This place is a must stop here kind of place. They have a great variety of donuts made fresh everyday and they are so delicious!!! Each day they have a different " donut of the day" and they are all fantastic. They close when they sell out so make sure to get here early. They building is a little small and the line will be out the door but it moves quite quickly so don't worry. Besides the sweet deliciousness that awaits you inside is well worth the wait!! You will not be disappointed!! They also have individual drinks like milk and juice to go with. My favorite is the applesauce donut and the blueberry donut both are cake style donuts. Donut Haus is set back in time and is a unique specialty donut shop that should be visited on your trip to Estes Park! Apparently according to local lore, the donut haus people get up early in the morning, bake as many donuts as they feel like, open the store and when they are sold out - they are done for the day! So that being the case, get there early in the morning to get the best selection of donuts! We arrived at about 8 o'clock on a Thursday morning slightly off-season - daughter and I had a limited selection but there were plenty of enormous incredible looking donuts to choose from. We chose the chocolate pretzel twist doughnut to share. It was a fork and knife doughnut - we sawed that thing up and even between the two of us, we could not finish the whole thing. I believe each of us took turns saying "that is a really good donut". While we were there, we heard a lot of people calling in their orders so that is an option if you get up early in the morning and want a bunch of donuts, give them a call! Local rumor says the donut house is going to be a victim of the loop and they're going to raze it down to make the traffic circle. So get there as soon as you can. This is a grab and go shop - there is no seating so we took a giant doughnut and ran. It would be really sweet if there was some seating, and also the coffee could be improved immensely. You have to get to the Donut Haus fairly early so you can get what you want as they tend to sell out of their staple products like their fritters. I got an Apple Fritter and their dounut of the day, Blueberry. Both were incredibly tasty. Wasn't sure where this place was at first! Found out it was in the Sinclair, I guess they switched there last year. We were greeted by a very nice middle aged woman and younger woman. I had probably one of my favorite donuts to date, a raspberry twist, along with a strawberry jelly filled. They were both so soft and tasty. I wish I had more haha. Yes, this is the only donut stop in town (as far as I know) and correspondingly popular. Despite the popularity, we went here twice during our two day stay in Estes Park. That is how good it is. Donuts are of the highest quality and they are creative! You will find some really yummy donuts here. Highly recommend the raspberry twist and the cream filled bars (oh boy - drooling as I think of the latter). Even the kids' donuts were better than average. They always go for iced with sprinkles, but here they put that on a raised donut, not a cake donut. Unusual. Coffee is decent too. Would get 5 stars but parking is terrible and the place is so crowded. On both occasions, the place was hopping first thing in the morning. I thought we were early risers, but I guess not. They may sell out of things quickly on a busy weekend. On the second day the first person in line literally walked out with a mega order of 10 boxes. The traditional glazed donut may be a bit less than the best I've ever had, but it was still FANTASTIC!! The only thing that's a little sub par is the parking situation out front.
