I live close to this donut shop so decided to stop by before work to get a dozen of donuts for my colleagues. Any time I come here, the workers are fast and the donuts are fresh. I ordered a mixture of different donuts. My favorite is the maple bar and they make it great. It's not too sweet and not too doughy. Glazed, jelly-filled, and chocolate are also great. The box of a dozen has gone up in price but, like everything else, it was expected. I would have added some more Valentine's donuts, if I known. Overall, great spot and great donuts! read more

The service was exceptionally RUDE. I went in around 6 pm in the mood for a boba and right off the bat it seemed like my order was the greatest hassle of her life. I ordered a Taro smoothie and a cookies and cream smoothie when I noticed her place the boba in the microwave. The Taro smoothie tasted as if it had expired milk, and I love taro teas/smoothies. You will always feel welcome at Donut Star and will be greeted warmly by the friendly staff. The neighborhood feels a strong connection to this shop, and there are many repeat customers. Most of all the donuts are the best in town. The baker works hard to make sure that everything is made well. Two words. Maple Bars!! Currently priced at $1.50 if you buy one. Still a good deal with inflation. I rarely buy more than a couple donuts at a time unless I'm buying for the office, but I do see the disappointment sometimes on the employees (owners?) face when that's all I want. I consider myself a coinsurer of maple bars. Since I was a kid, they've always been my favorite. This place doesn't disappoint, although not quite my favorite. The maple frosting is top notch. Very rich and creamy. The bun itself is very soft on the inside, but the outside sometimes has a little firmness, maybe caused by some dryness, but it's a small detail that keeps it from getting a 5-star review. They do have some fun donuts, with cereal toppings and chocolate chips. To me, those are a rare splurge because I just don't need the sugar content on top of what's already there, but they are still a fun indulgence once or twice a year. The service is on par with other donut shops. Don't expect overly friendly service, but they are efficient. read more

Tried ordering a breakfast sandwich and asked to switch out mayo for light cream cheese and was told it would cost $1 extra for light cream cheese so i turn it down (mind you the sandwich is already $7). I asked for a box, she said "6 donuts minimum or i charge you for the box" at this point i asked for small white bags for each donut bc i rather have that than them falling out on the counter. I would not recommend this donut shop. I ordered a raspberry filled and a chocolate glazed. The raspberry filled like it had been dipped twice and sugar, which was overwhelming and the chocolate glazed donut mostly tasted like sugar and no chocolate flavor. The other donuts in the case, kind of looked strange like the toppings have been smeared on with a pastry knife. Not smooth like I'm use to seeing. Now the strangest part. I see that there are premade Starbucks Frappuccino for $4.50. So I ask for one of those and the cashier says, "why don't you have one of our premade drinks for $7?" I was like I don't want to spend $7. She shrugged and sold me the Starbucks drink. I left to find out the Starbucks drink is spoiled and has huge curds floating in it. Expiration was 6/23. They have large containers of coffee available with cups and cream/sugar, as well as breakfast sandwiches and Vietnamese iced coffee.
