Donut Tree is a walnut staple! They're a family run business that's been in walnut forever. I remember they used to give free coffee and a donut to police officers / fire fighters but I'm not sure if they still do that bc of covid. They're a great local donut shop with all the classics. Every donut here is delicious but I especially love their fresh blueberry donuts! They also recently started selling mochi donuts for $2.50 each. The mochi donuts are chewy and stretchy but their icing isn't the best, flavor wise. I've lived in the area for about 7 years now and have always stopped in whenever my kids would point it out. Yesterday walking out of Vons we stopped in for $2 worth of donut holes a Mochi Donut, and 1 small can of coca-cola and went about my day. Today I get an alert that my transaction had been processed for Donut Tree and it shows $11.84. Clearly for the amount I walked out with the day before shouldn't have amounted to this so I call today at around 4PM. Phone answers, and I ask how much a machine donut is, I'm told $2.99 for 1. Then I state my purchased items and ask to break down the listed items because i believe i was overcharged and for the correct price. I GET HUNG UP ON!!!!!!!!!! I go inside to the store about 10 minutes later, I find out yes, I was overcharged. I was overcharged $5.30. And the response i got, Just wasn't right to try to down play the situation I'm told the lady that helped me was new, only there for about 2 hours, a few days a week. That only makes me think she's been overcharging other people then. The donuts are okay, but after this incident I'll no longer be going back. She even kept .10 from my would be change back.. I wasn't impressed with the service here, however the taste of the donuts was okay. First time and I really felt rushed, like walking down an assembly line and not enough time to view all the donut options. There's a very narrow aisle for the customers and the floors in this area were dirty and had spilled coffee (slipping hazard). Took a long time to process my credit card, and then when I got to my car, the woman who helped me came running out saying that it didn't go through. So back inside I went for another long wait to process the card. The woman in front of me had just as long a wait, so it must have been their machine. I can't attest to the price point or service of the in-store experience, so this review is just about the quality of the donuts themselves. And they were so good! Since it's just me and my husband, we had 2 each day. Even on the 2nd day after receiving them, with a few seconds in the microwave, they still had a chewy and soft texture and I didn't notice a negative change in texture/dryness (and I'm so picky with textures!). Regular donuts here are great, but I decided to stop in today because I saw the sign that they now sell mochi donuts. Mochi donuts are $2.50 each and come in a dozen flavors. I picked up ube, strawberry, and green tea flavors. After trying these three flavors, I am not a fan. The glaze on them are like regular donuts (not creamy but cracks and crusts off when you bite into them). It's overly sweet, and I can't really distinguish the flavors of each donut, the green tea glaze just tastes like sugar with a hint of green tea and the ube glaze just tastes like sugar but colored purple. The texture of the mochi donut itself is really dense and not my favorite. I would recommend coming to Donut Tree for their regular donuts and skip the mochi ones. read more

Donut tree is a local staple in our Walnut community so I had to give a try to the mochi donuts when they finally arrived. In comparison to other mochi doughnut locations pricing is about the same which is $2.50 each. So kind of pricey for this new trend. They had some pretty interesting flavors like the pandan and black sesame that I tried. Flavors were tasty, however the donut self was not as chilly as other mochi donuts I've tried were. So the mochi donuts at this location are more American donut texture rather than mochi. It was something interesting to try since there aren't many locations near Walnut California. Will probably return just to try the new flavors but I hope that they improve the texture to make it more chewy and fluffy. read more

I ordered custom letter donuts. A plus was they were able to accommodate with 1 day notice. The next day they said they only did an abbreviated version instead of the entire "birthday" as I had requested. The donuts looked good. They were ok in taste. It wasn't anything out of the world. The customer service needs improvement. I get the vibe that the associates don't want to be there. I came here for their mochi donuts and I was disappointed by how hard the texture was. Maybe they're not freshly baked and I got an old batch? They lacked the chewiness that's common in other mochi donuts that I've tried. Also the shapes are kind of deformed. My bf got the fruity pebbles mochi donut and didn't really enjoy it as much as other places. This is by far my favorite donut spot! As simple as this donut shop may be, it has everything I want, BOTH times that I've visited! I have purchased the dozen donuts both times because why not?! It is priced at $9.99 for a dozen (except fancies), and if you choose to get more than a dozen, each regular donut will be $0.25 per donut, and each fancy will be $0.80 per donut. The staff here is always welcoming and always greets me with a huge smile! Both times I've visited, the staff acknowledges their usual, returning customers and that just warms my heart! There are countless donut establishments at every corner. Multiple ones I've visited were filthy with flies inside the donut displays (so gross!), and most I've visited weren't as fresh as Donut Tree's. I am pretty shocked their blueberry donuts were just as good as M & M's all the way in Anaheim! I cannot believe I've driven all the way there, as well as waited multiple hours just for those donuts, when I can just grab them right here! Also, one of the most important deal breakers for me is that most places will run out of a certain flavor. BUT, the both times I've visited Donut Tree, they always refilled their displays and I am always able to bring home the donuts I want/ crave! It's located in the Vons parking lot so there's plenty of parking and the people who were there are always quick but friendly. I've been coming here for years and it's a solid standby for when I have to satisfy my sweet tooth. They have this chocolate doughnut that's filled with chocolate and has chocolate chips on top that I really like. It is very rich, so it's good for a cheat day. They also have a humongous ham and cheese croissant that's generously filled with jalapeños (a plus in my book). Literally each bite of the croissant had a jalapeño! I would recommend toasting it rather than microwaving it if you're eating it the next day though. I really wanted a ham cheese jalapeño croissant but they ran out (so sad) so I resorted for the ham and cheese. It was jam packed with ham and cured me of my cravings. A hefty portion at a reasonable price! We also got a blueberry donut, tiger tail, and the chocolate custard filling (my personal fave kind of donut) . All were excellent and were gone quickly. Although my favorite donut shop would have to be Krispy Kremes, this donut shop is just as good. The donuts are super cheap and they have so many traditional old favorites such as bear claws and jellied donuts, although I highly recommend ordering the blueberry donuts if they are still in stock. I personally am not much of a sweet tooth but these are just too good. I would order a cup of hot black coffee to eat with the donut to balance out the sweetness. Once you bite into it, you can tell that they use actual blueberries and no artificial flavorings. My brother-in-law even tells me that he craves these donuts all the way from South Korea because it's sooo good. The staff are very friendly as well.
