Brisket smoked w/ Kiawe wood.... THE bite of Maui BBQ that your soul needs
    Samuel Edison L.

Amazing service, perfects smells, & great vibes comin from the truck. 11/10 will come again. Kiawe smoked brisket & chicken plate = heaven. All the meats are moist, flavorful, and melt in your mouth. Big love for their sides too... pickles, sauce, cornbread, baked beans, and Kiawe smoked mashed potatoes held it down as the best pairings for the meats. Shoutout Dope BBQ for blessing the Lowe's lot!

Had the pleasure of experiencing this food truck through an event. Had pork belly, brisket, beans and cornbread. So good! I love some good bbq. Service was pretty fast. Definitely check them out!

OMG! Bbq brisket sandwich was perfect.....juicy, smoky, delicious and a huge portion. This guy knows bbq! Makes homemade lemonade- and has Arnold Palmers! In parking lot of Lowe's, at the garden end. Try it......you will become a fan!

Weird location. Had one truck right off the road, but they were in the middle of this open field so nobody was there...that just made it that much more enticing to us. Hubs got the combo and I got the cuban with the bbq mustard on the side. I don't like bbq sauce but it really needed some sauce. The meat was super soft and smokey, but didn't have much saltiness to it otherwise. Maybe if a few more pickles, woulda been perf. But buggah was big. I ate half and had major kanak attack. Ate the other half over 2 more meals. As I got older, I thought I didn't like banana chips (were they really plantains?). I guess I was wrong cuz I loved them. Nice and crisp and stayed that way for 2 more days! Just added salt and delish. Hubs meal had chicken...he said some of the best chicken he's had. Musta been pretty awesome since he's usually a meat guy. But he did like everything. Also came with corn, slaw and a cute cornbread. He was pretty happy...leftovers made breakfast and a small snack. Lotsa other things on the menu that sounded good too... Brisket Grilled Cheese is gonna get cracks next time I go...

Their name says it all. The BBQ is dope. What sets their BBQ apart is the smokiness to everything. I have been a fan for awhile and have been able to catch them at Sunday Night Marketplace, Kihei 4th Friday and at Queen K. My tried, true and regular menu items- BBQ chicken, pulled pork and chicken burrito. All meats are juicy, tender and flavorful. Sides are pretty tasty. I usually stick with smashed potatoes, mac and cheese and occasionally will get their beans or collared greens. The burrito is average size but is loaded with deliciousness in a spinach tortilla. Their BBQ sauce is amazing. I sometimes request for a second container of BBQ sauce to ensure all meats are drenched equally. If you can't decide, request to comb a couple different items for a few extra dollars. Be sure to order a lemonade, sweet tea or Arnold Palmer to go with your meal. Freshness of that hand squeezed lemon. Lately, I've been ordering their special the last few visit to the truck. I've really enjoyed the smoked prime rib and NY steak. These plates cost a little more than their average meals, but I can't get over the smoky flavor that's unexpected. They smoke the meat and sear it to lock in the flavor. It's served with a creamy horseradish sauce. My sides have been smashed potatoes, mac and cheese and the jalapeno corn muffin. Hopefully one or both of these items become a regular menu item. Definitely want to give these guys credit where credit is due.

I've been eyeing Dope BBQ before they were even here on Maui. I somehow caught wind of them while they were in the process of moving their business here from Portland, Oregon. I noticed them parked at the 76 Gas Station a couple months back, their normal spot, but I couldn't figure out where to park in that teeny space. Fast forward to last week, I was finally able to get a little taste of their BBQ at the Maui Sunday Market. As we perused through their menu offerings, the owner offered us a sample of their BBQ pork belly. It was very tender and seasoned well. He noted that he makes his own rubs & does everything himself which I think is really key to doing real BBQ right. I really wanted to try the BBQ sampler and get a taste of all the things, but I didn't want to fill myself up on one food truck that night 'cause I pretty much wanted to try everything at the event. Haha. So we opted for the pork belly sliders and indulged my current lemonade addiction with some fresh pressed lemonade. The sliders came on a sweet bun and it was pretty good! Great flavor on the meat, but I think I needed just a little more meat to balance out the bread. The lemonade was really, really good though! Mmmmmm... so fresh. We'll need to try the sampler the next time around to really get a taste of the BBQ since they were sold out of a few items, one of which was what I wanted to try -- the pulled pork. Will try again next time.

Ordered a 1 choice with a side and added on a homemade sausage link. Selected the homemade Mac and cheese as a side as that's classic and waited a bit for my food... I don't remember the actual cost but it was around $30 for my plate after everything was said and done... Got my food and found a table. Opened it up and was immediately underwhelmed. The brisket looked dry and was from the day before. The sausage looked mid. The Mac and cheese looked extremely loose. All the items had the slightest smoke... Another competitive restaurant upcountry, Marlow, uses exclusively locally grown and sourced produce with exceptional quality, taste and execution, around the same price point. IMHO I've been to…read moreMaui countless times over the years, and I've always wanted to visit Kula Lodge located on the slopes of Haleakala. This year, we made it happen. The drive to the restaurant along curvy roads and tall, shady trees was enchanting. I'd heard the views from the restaurant were spectacular, and the unique outdoor canvas-covered "gazebos" added to its charm. Our party of four chose to eat under one of the outdoor gazebos. We ordered four morning cocktails: a Bloody Mary, $12, 2 Maui Mosas, $18, and a Kona Longboard, $9. Our entrees were the Upcountry Quiche, $27, Roasted Kabocha Squash, $28, Mochiko Chicken & Waffles, $30, and the Garlic Prawn Pizza, $30. While we waited for our food, we took the time to wander the beautiful botanical garden grounds and pathways. When our food did arrive, there was only one glitch. Instead of the Garlic Prawn Pizza, we received a different shrimp entree, which looked fantastic...but it wasn't what we ordered. They apologized and went to prepare the pizza. The food was delicious, and portions were big, so we definitely had leftovers. Overall, I am so glad we finally made it to Kula Lodge. Unfortunately, just 3 weeks after our visit, Kula Lodge suffered from a restaurant fire. I am absolutely positive they will re-open again. In the meantime, come support their Kula Marketplace, which is a wonderful gift shop, adjacent to the restaurant, and untouched by the fire. They need your support!!! I will definitely return!
