my bf and i ordered pizza via doordash and WOW! this place is definitely the real deal! i got the salsiccia pizza (senza olive) and it was delicious - perfect balance of flavors, sauce, and cheese, on the perfect napoli style crust! i have family in sicily and go back to visit every other summer (i was supposed to visit this year, but covid squashed that plan) - anyway, when i took a bite of this pizza, it transported back there with my family. i'm honestly so excited that this place is now open - it's rare to find truly authentic italian food (let alone southern region). i'm looking forward to trying the other dishes!!! ps. bonus points for including the proper reheating instructions on the inside of the pizza box... that is, assuming you have any leftover pizza to reheat ;) read more

My husband came here on a Friday night. This restaurant is located in the new Veranda shopping center and has been open for 2 weeks. As of now, they are offering take out and outdoor seating. I'm not sure if you can call ahead of time to reserve a table, but i definitely recommend it during Covid and seating is limited - Although for a Friday night, we only waited about 15 minutes for a table for 2. I'm giving this restaurant a 4 (for now). I definitely think it can be a 5 though. The food was amazing! We ordered the bruschetta (4 pieces) and calamari/shrimp as our appetizer and it didn't disappoint. Our entrees were amazing also - the oxtail pasta was really flavorful, but could have used more oxtail for the price you're paying. A lot of Italian restaurants don't usually serve rib eye, or any type of steal so my husband was thrilled to see it on the menu. It was cooked to his liking and flavorful. We plan on making thus spot our regular Italian restaurant, since it is closer to home (than our current go to spot in Alameda). I'm excited to come back and try other things on the menu. Doppio Zero has the best pizza this side of Naples! We have been to their other locations in San Francisco and Mountain View and were so excited when we heard they were going to open here in Concord at The Veranda. We went to their soft opening last night for a wonderful meal and were not disappointed. They have other great looking pastas and meat entrees which I do want to try but it's hard for me to be lured away from their beautiful pizzas with perfectly chewy crust and luscious fior di latte mozzarella and tomato sauce (they have white pizzas too but I just love the red sauce). Had a wonderful, authentic meal that made me pine for my Nonna's cooking. I knew it was a good sign when the wait staff (and assuming owners) spoke fluent Italian. We stared out with the Brussel sprouts and I moved onto the lasagna while my wife had the pork chop, or rather the MASSIVE cutlet! Both were generous portions and delicious. I forced myself to top it off with the tiramisu and it was the real deal and did not disappoint. The interior looks beautiful and it will be nice to sit in once we are able to dine indoors. Disappointed in the quality of the food. Ordered from doordash tonight. In the order was one of their signature pizzas (with eggplant), branzino, and the wild boar pasta. I didn't expect the best presentation because you can't really present dishes well with take out; what I did expect was fresh food. The food was both cold and clearly not freshly made. The flavors were just okay but nothing special. The food arrived stone cold. The pizza had clearly been cooked earlier today or yesterday; it was soggy in the middle and ice cold to the touch. The cheese was ice cold, not melted, clearly not cooked to order. Same for the pasta. It's like they premade the dishes, put food in the fridge and took it out to serve it. The branzino was supposed to have been grilled fresh but somehow arrived lukewarm. We don't live far from this restaurant so the cold food is clearly an issue with the preparation and quality control. Really disappointing. I don't understand the rave reviews here. Also unacceptable to serve cold food! For these prices it's just not worth it to go here or order take out. Maybe their in person dining is different but I won't try this place again given what happened tonight. read more

We ordered takeout for dinner from this place. Despite the peak hour, they were quite fast and met the promised pick-up time. We got two pizzas: jalapeno, and pizza napule (which is a fried pizza). The jalapeno pizza was delicious. The crust was a bit soggy at the bottom but that's fine. I loved the jalapenos because it gave it a nice kick. I love spicy food and I was satisfied with this. I loved the spicy Italian sausage and salami on the pizza - very good flavors. It was also nice and cheesy. The pizza napule reminded me of a calzone but the crust was nice and thin and crispy! The ricotta cheese just oozed out of every bite. I think I enjoyed this pizza a bit more than the jalapeno pizza, as the crust was just so crispy in this one. Every six weeks, our facility has a work meeting that we end at Doppio for dinner. They gracefully accommodate our party of 7-10 rambunctious nurses, always ensuring that all our dinner need are met. Alessandro (who we think is one of the owners) always stops by our table to greet us, ask us how we are doing and ensures we have a wonderful meal in this beautiful restaurant. The burrata was cold with some icy crystals inside (basically still frozen) and the tasteless mozzarella was more like chewing gum consistency. Was in the area and ran up on this restaurant. It's located in a hot spot next to plenty of shopping, a movie theater and more restaurants so parking can be a challenge at times. The restaurant is nicely decorated and inviting with both indoor and outdoor dining. The customer service was a little lacking had to ask for bread and butter at my table but they were very friendly. Ordered the Oxtail pasta a Homemade tube pasta slowly braised in a Barbera wine reduction, topped with Parmigiano Reggiano and ZUPPA DI PESCE a Seafood Stew, clams, calamari, shrimp, fresh fish in a light spicy tomato broth, served with crostini. The oxtail pasta was delicious the oxtail was very tender and shredded served over the pasta with a tasty broth. The Zuppa Di Pesce was tasty and very flavorful. Both entrees came in very generous portions enough for us to have seconds the next day. The price was good for the amount of food served. For a place that calls itself a pizzeria this place is a joke. I ordered a jalapeño pizza and it came after 25 mins in an empty restaurant. Literally my mon asked me if this restaurant is good at all because there was no one sitting in it. I confidently told her its a four star yelp restaurant and that its pizza who can mess up pizza? Well! First of all pizza was horrible! It was not edible. The pizza was drowning with water and the cheese fell off and all the ingredients didnt stick. The pizza flopped and fell apart as soon as I picked up a piece. I had to eat with my fork......Taste was ok actually. I called the waiter to ask if this is normal he said it is normal because they are using "fresh" mozzarella cheese. No apologies no nothing. I took it home and threw it away the next day as all the ingredients was all over the box. Throughout the entire meal we werent asked if we needed anything or if food was good. non-existent customer service. This spot is AMAZING. My fiancé and I decided to try this place out after its grand opening a couple of days ago. We ordered drinks, the Vesuvius & an Old Fashioned for him. They were both spectacular. We had the croquette small plate. Also great! I had the ravioli. He had the Fettucine Delizia. It was a great portion size compared to other restaurants in the area. First, I'll start off by saying, we walked in on a Friday night and was seated by the hosted right away. She was kind and professional. We were given water, however it was warm so we didn't drink it. The waiter came over and he took our order for appetizers, food and soft drinks right away. The food came out very fast and I was very pleased at this point. After tasting my food, I was excited because the noodles were homemade and it reminded me of how I was brought up - in a Italian house. The 3 stars ends there. Now for the ZERO stars. Never once did the waiter come by and ask if we needed a refill on our soft drinks or anything. The tables started filling up and he would walk to every table around us and NEVER stop or make eye contact. My cup sat at the end of the table empty for 20+ minutes before I finally called out to him while he was at another table next to us and I asked for a refill. Keep in mind I didn't even finish my food at that point as I had nothing to drink to wash it down. As we sat there and busboys (and girls) picked up our plates, he still didn't approach us to ask if we were done, needed dessert, or give us a bill. We sat for another 30 minutes scrolling on our phones hoping he would come back or someone would notice us just doing nothing- but neither the hostess who seated others or anyone else acknowledged us. I was tired of sitting at this point and while I could have walked out without paying and probably gotten away with it, I went up to the hostess and explained the situation and asked for my check. She talked to the manager and I saw the manager approach the waiter. Never did the manager come to us or care for that matter. The waiter came over and apologized and asked if we were finished. Since my husband knew I really wanted to try one of their canoli (because my mom used to make them and it brought back memories), he asked for a canoli. I told the waiter to forget it and just give the bill. My husband told him to just bring the canoli. I ate the canoli (yes it was good) and finally our check was handed to us. NO APOLOGY NO NOTHING !!! Not even a lousy credit for the canoli as a token of his mistake. I do not recommend this establishment as the manager all the way down to the waiter do not care for their customers. With the price of going out to dinner these days and the options available, make sure your customers are appreciated, especially when their bill is over $105 for 2 people. read more
