    Quesadilla with Hatch Chile
    Melanie L.

Been coming here with Natomas Run Club to help support local businesses and the staff is always amazing! Ordered at the counter and food came out quickly. 5/5 steak quesadilla with hatch chile. Their steak is SO DANG GOOD. I smell it the second I walk in. I asked for spicy and they added extra chile. The ends could've been more cheesy but there was a good amount of meat. This is high top 3 on my list of favorite quesadillas for sure! 4.5/5 green avo salsa at the salsa bar 5/5 Yucatán steak salad - huge portions and the presentation is everything. 4/5 green chile stew - hearty with tons of flavor. Comes with 2 tortillas. I'll continue to come here for the steak!

It is a good place to eat something fresh clean and quick. I always order yolo mango burrito, it is delicious. Services here is always good, employees are very friendly.

Dos coyotes is an American Mexican spot that doesn't really try to be more than what it is. You have the standard options like tacos, burritos and sizzling fajita plates. Nothing is going to knock your socks off but you're not going to be mad either. I was in the mood for a surf and turf burrito so I got a shrimp burrito and added steak. Super solid. The salsa bar had some nice options too so overall was a good meal. I will say, the thing that will bring me back is the service. Everyone there is on top of their game. The food comes out lightning fast, the "waiters" are always humming by if you need anything. I was impressed. Food: 3.5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 3.5/5 Marcels foodie score: 4/5

This might be one of the only perfect 5 star places of all time for me. I would give this place a 6/5 stars if possible. This place is one of the few places that actually allows dine in during COVID (a major plus). I was so happy when this chain moved from its mid town location to something much closer to me; it's practically in my backyard! I have been coming to Dos Coyotes at other locations to eat for decades. The food is always better than expected. Almost everything on the menu is a hit, no misses. My go-to is always the border burrito. They have a wide beer selection. There are vegetarian options on the menu like potato tacos or salads. This restaurant is a really great example of how to do Tex-mex/Mexican-American food the right way. The ambiance is nice with top hits playing and a really neat Arizonan pueblo architecture that has hanging peppers throughout the r Probably the best part about this restaurant is the salsas. The roasted tomatillo is quite literally the best flavor that will ever come in contact with your tongue. I always get extra salsa and practically drink it while I eat it is so good. The service is always very friendly and FAST to prepare your order. The restrooms are consistently clean and the hand soap smells so good that I want to steal the wall mounted soap and use it at home. Bottom line/TLDR: absolutely nothing wrong about this place, really good food.

The food here is excellent! This place has great ambience and courteous customer service. I placed an order for pick up was ready in less than 10 minutes. They also have a great salsa bar where you can have whatever you like! What you see here is a border burrito, ranchero style, and a side of steak

I love our neighborhood Dos Coyotes. We have dined in and ordered takeout and food is always good. Our all time favorite is the paella burrito. Always great service. We do not wait long for food. Nice place and clean. Thank you.

Burritos have gotten smaller at this dos coyotes. I mean I don't care about the prices of everything going up (I do but) but at least make the portions equal to what it used to be. Geez! Pic shown is 1/2 burrito and real thin.

COCKROACH DEEPLY EMBEDDED IN MY SALAD. They continued to serve guests after this was brought to their attention, including serving the exact contaminated salad I got 4 minutes later. Called the County Health Inspector, who said the roach was in the lettuce obtained by Sysco foods, purchased by Dos Coyotes. Why aren't they inspecting the FOOD THEY GET FROM SYSCO???? WOW, DO NOT EAT HERE. At least they didn't try to deny it and saved the roach for when the inspector showed up hours later.

Crispy potato tacos with a flavorable crunchy slaw in the front. In the background were the salmon tacos.

While in West Sacramento, we were in the mood for some good Mexican food. Dos Coyotes was close to the hotel, so we stopped in for a light dinner. We ordered at the counter, and found a high top table next to the window. Shortly after sitting, we visited the salsa bar and found a nice selection of salsa's. Our food was out quickly, and it looked delicious. I ordered the potato tacos and the potatoes in the crispy tortillas were crispy, there were a lot of nice textures in these tacos. Mr. Bee ordered the salmon tacos and found them delicious. The chips on the side were crispy and the salsas all were scrumptious. We were very happy with our meal, and would absolutely eat there again if we find ourselves back in the area.

    Yolo Mango Bowl
    Eliza G.

I like their Yolo Mango Burrito Bowl. It has a nice kick to it with the mango and tangy sauce evening out the spiciness. It's nothing super amazing imo but it's a quick simple meal and comes with complimentary chips. The salsa bar is convenient as you help yourself to as much as you please. I like the Pico de Gallo and the Green sweeter ones the best. I've tried some of their regular chicken tacos and didn't really like them. Makes me not want to explore the menu and just stick with the mango bowl I like. Service is good. Restaurant clean. Not busy the times I've gone.

Border burrito, $16 same size as hand. Very small.

We had a reservation and were seated immediately. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was on point and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. One thing I love about Fixins is that the menu truly has something for everyone. We even got the chance to meet Aunt Pearl, whose name appears on the menu, which made the experience feel even more special. We ordered the Chicken & Waffles along with sides of Mac & Cheese and Candied Yams. The candied yams were buttery, sweet, and everything you want from a classic soul food side. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. The waffle was a standout. It had a subtle spice to it, a crispy exterior, and paired perfectly with the chicken. The chicken itself was well seasoned, perfectly battered, and fried just right. And then there's the Red Kool-Aid. Fixins should honestly bottle that stuff and sell it by the gallon because it was THAT good. One thing that caught my eye on the menu was their Kool-Aid soaked pickle. I didn't try it this visit, but next time I'm definitely ordering one of their sandwiches because it comes with the sandwich plates and I'm too curious not to. The food, service, and atmosphere all came together to create an experience that felt like family. It truly feels like somebody's grandmother is in the back making sure every plate leaves the kitchen with love. Definitely looking forward to coming back.

I hadn't been since last summer and was happy to return. Parking can be a bit hectic, but once you're inside, the atmosphere makes up for it. I ordered the French toast plate, which came with thick-cut slices of bread, eggs, and bacon. The French toast was soft on the inside with a nice golden finish, full of flavor without being overly sweet. The eggs were well seasoned, and the bacon was cooked just right. BB ordered the cheeseburger with fries and a side of grits. The burger was juicy with grilled onions and melted cheese, and the fries had that crispy, beer-battered texture. They had some unique syrups, such as bourbon caramel and praline. The syrups were on the more subtle side, which some people prefer. I am not one of those people, but it was a good latte for a breakfast/ brunch spot. I wish there was more ice tho.  The skillet cornbread with sharp cheddar, creamed corn & garlic, honey butter & house made seasonal jam on the side was a great starter dish. There's a gravel lot right next to the building and you can take your food to go or enjoy it there. Our food took about 15-20 minutes and then we took it home to enjoy. The portions are definitely fair for the price. They also pack everything well for the ride home. The gumbo is our favorite, it's flavorful and packed with protein like their sausage, chicken, and shrimp and has just a hint of spice. We tried their riblets for the first time and it was a generous portion and we really enjoyed the bbq sauce they used. The mac and cheese is good, but I like mine creamier. It does have a little spice which was nice. The dressing was packed with flavor and we were excited they offered this side because you don't see it everywhere. Their hot water cornbread is definitely something they're known for and is really good on its own or dipped into the gumbo. The Palmer here tastes like Brisk raspberry tea mixed with lemonade, and we really enjoy this twist on it. Overall this spot is a local gem and we love visiting.

Usually, I am greeted with rolling eyes, laziness, and--most of all--attitude. (See one of my old podcasts link below regarding my opinion on soul food restaurants on iHeartRadio): https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-the-david-mack-show-105280474/episode/lena-s-soul-food-in-oakland-ca-119449772/?cmp=android_share&sc=android_social_share&pr=false Back to my review: Her name is Victoria... like the Queen! I told Victoria I was looking at the menu, which has a very nice variety of soul food selections. Victoria asked me if I would like to sample the gumbo. Sure! Victoria came back with a small, teasing sample, and after tasting it, I told her, "SOLD!" Just from the taste of that gumbo, I knew my Mother's Spirit was back there doing the cooking. It was a very cold day, and I would have eaten there, but because of the layout, I ordered the family size to-go. The gumbo also comes with hot water cornbread. Victoria took my order, my payment, and advised me it would be ready in five minutes. I waited in my car. I came back in four minutes, and my order was already bagged and ready for pickup. I "suffered" during the hour-long drive home, smelling the aroma of that meal the whole way! Finally home, I opened the secure bag, filled to the top container, and took out the prize. The food presentation was excellent! I put the gumbo in a bowl, and it was still very hot. I then proceeded to taste my meal: Rice: Nice and fluffy! Chicken: Flavored perfectly. Soup Juice: Perfect. Prawns: Excellent. Sausage: Plump and sliced perfectly. All many other ingredients: Very tasty with a hint of spice. Note: There were no crab legs to make a mess (which I did NOT miss) and no slimy okra (which was great)! The sweet hot water cornbread was very buttery and looked like a thick pancake. I put mine in the toaster oven to warm it up and get it a little crisp. It was amazing! That gumbo not only warmed me up, but it also put me to sleep like a big baby! If this restaurant continues with the trajectory of this review (professional attitude, unique layout, and great menu items), they will be the "go-to" soul food spot on the 80! I wouldn't change a thing! I will return because I want to report on another food item I had my eye on before the gumbo sample! Go check out this spot and see the Young Queen Victoria! Make sure you tip her for great service (No Tax On Tips), just like I did! David Mack (Reviewer-in-Chief)

Q1227 easily became one of my favorite dining experiences in Sacramento…read more We started with the lobster bites and broccolini. The lobster bites came with a lemon wedge and their house Thousand Island sauce, and that sauce was incredible. The combination of the crispy lobster, lemon, and sauce worked perfectly together. The broccolini was also seasoned really well and paired nicely with the grilled lemon. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the smoothest I've had. One detail I loved was that they stamped the restaurant's logo into the ice cube. Small touch, but really cool. For my main course, I ordered the Grilled Huli Huli Chicken with a crispy rice cake, pineapple, greens, and a house sauce that completely made the dish. The sweet and tangy flavor paired perfectly with the chicken. Me and my girlfriend also shared the mac and cheese, and honestly, this was one of the best mac and cheeses I've had. It was rich, creamy, well-seasoned, and the breadcrumbs on top added the perfect texture. My girlfriend ordered the braised short rib with garlic mashed potatoes and carrot purée. The short rib was so tender it practically fell apart with a fork. Everything on the plate was delicious. One thing that surprised me was the portion sizes. Everything was very filling, and we ended up taking some food home. By the time dessert came around, we were already pretty full, but there was no way we were skipping it. To finish the night, we shared the Ghirardelli triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and strawberries. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The restaurant was busy and lively, but it never felt crowded. The tables were spaced out really well, so my girlfriend and I could still enjoy our conversation and watch the basketball game. I also appreciated seeing Chef Q and his wife walking around and checking on guests throughout the night. They stopped by tables to see how everyone was enjoying their food, which was a really nice touch. I even had the chance to take a picture with Chef Q before we left, which was super cool. Between the food, service, atmosphere, and attention to detail, this is easily one of the top restaurants I've been to in Sacramento. Definitely worth a visit.

I have never seen such poor service in my life…read more Two weeks prior to tonight, my dad made a reservation for parents' 58th wedding anniversary. He paid $102(!!!) to reserve the table. Flash forward to this afternoon, they called my dad's cell phone to confirm the reservation. They never mentioned anything about the restaurant being closed for a private party or anything. My elderly parents show up for their reservation, only to be turned away by the host due to a private party! When my dad explained they had a reservation and paid for their table, the manager came over to speak to them. The manager said he would refund their reservation charge, but did NOTHING to make it right. They called and confirmed just hours before, turned them away at the door, and didn't even offer to get them a table for the next day or anything. For elderly parents with mobility issues, it's hard enough to get out of the house on a normal day, but to be turned away at the door due to mismanagement of their establishment is just embarrassing. Won't be coming back. Ever.
