What an absolute joke! The summer special is a chilled grain salad with mango salsa. Sounds good, right? It was except weren't any grains in the salad. When I asked about it, here was the reply: "Yeah, it's really misleading. There really isn't very much grain in the salad." "How about there's no grain in the salad. That would be more accurate. It's not a grain salad." "Well, none of the employees like that salad. We are out of the rice it's supposed to come with. I can order you a said of white rice, if you'd like." Welcome to Natomas, Dos Coyotes. Located in the Safeway plaza, right next to Papa Murphys. We were planning to go to Chaat Kafe but saw a lot of hustle bustle inside Dos. They indeed did a soft opening today and their Grand Opening is on Dec 18,2018 (Tuesday). Me and wifey ordered salads for ourselves and kiddos had their quesadillas. The food came fresh and flavorful as we had expected. If you have seen my previous Dos posts, I'm a huge fan of their Yucatán salad, it's LIT. Wifey liked her salad and kids emptied their plates so that's always a relief moment. Their service was excellent, at least 4 different employees came to check on us while we eating and they bussed away plates that were finished. Little too much contact but I can totally relate as they may be practicing best practices. Keep it up. Overall, an excellent experience, spacious facility, good service, good food. I wanted to like this restaurant and I talked about going there for a very long time I thought about trying it in many different cities but ended up trying it about two years after the first time I saw it and unfortunately, it was extremely disappointing I'm no a fan of having to walk up and order and then having my food brought to me the restaurant itself strikes me as a place where you would go sit down, and a waiter would come and take your order, but that is not the case. the decor is very bland. The seating is very uncomfortable. The customer service was OK but not great and the food was very unappetizing. The red sauce is very overpowering. The tortillas turned out like mush. The chicken was extremely dry and overcooked. The lettuce was also very dry and cut too thick. Overall, there was nothing memorable about this visit. After a lot of hype from other people and also seeing this restaurant inside of ThunderValleyCasino, I expected it to be amazing but to my surprise, it was absolutely the opposite and I have eaten better food off of a taco truck. unfortunately, this is a restaurant. I will never go to again not for any one specific reason, but for all the reasons listed above. I did not take any pictures of the food that I ordered because there are so many reviews on this restaurant and so many pictures already I didn't feel it necessary. read more

I have been a fan of Dos Coyotes, for years! I was happy to see it in my new neighborhood. I always order the Adobe Salad with Chicken. It was pretty good but a lot of lettuce and light on the meat. The meat was very dry and over cooked. Also, they put all of the plastic containers inside the salad. The guacamole and sour cream were in plastic containers too and a plastic fork, packed in the salad. Not the usual way other places do it. Minus the plastic and tons of lettuce....it was decent. The green salsa was very runny and bland. Usually this is a little thicker and has a spicy sweet flavor. They need to work on this. Service was great! The place was very clean and bright inside. I will give it a couple months and then go back...maybe they just had first day jitters. read more

We went to Dos Coyotes today for lunch and they had seating outside. Weather in Sacramento wasn't too bad today so we enjoyed lunch outside in their patio. I went with the green chili stew special with some green Priscilla sauce. You have to tell them the sauces you want during COVID since its not self serve anymore. They brought our food to the outside table and it was fast and hot. The green chili stew is awesome, its rich with great southwest flavor and lots of spices. It's hearty its has chicken, potatoes and lots of chili and seasoning and comes with a tortilla on the side. I'm probably not helping describe the recipe ingredients, but I can tell you it was delicious and i will return to have some more. They service was great and the manager on duty stopped by to say hello and thank us. They follow all COVID safety precautions with masks, gloves, and hand sanitizers. We felt safe and enjoyed our lunch in the small amount of sun we had today. Thank you Dos Coyotes for the service and the great chili stew. We were able to leave from the patio to our car and not have to go through the lobby to avoid contact with anyone which is very good. Just picked up dinner. All the entrees had steak in them. Don't get anything with steak. It's all burnt black. See my photo. Those are only a few of the burnt pieces I picked out. I'm disappointed. I was expecting better. I work in Davis and eat at the Dos Coyotes there and it's amazing each time. Never had burnt steak or weird tasting salsas. Why do they taste off here??? Been here a few times since it opened. I have frequented the location on 65th and Folsom but was excited this one opened up. Unfortunately, I think they are still having some opening jitters. The first time I was here, the soda machine wasn't working. It needed to be rebooted but the employees kept telling everyone, oh its just slow. Finally they restarted it and it worked but was so thirsty during most of my meal. Recently, my salad barely had any dressing on it and I noticed everyone's food was coming out at different times. Overall, the taste and quality are about the same as the other location I go to. However, they need to get their staff properly trained. The restaurant is pretty clean but there will be a lack of salsas sometimes or a lack of utensils. The staff is friendly but I get the feeling they also don't have much experience in customer service nor do they know how to hustle. Regardless, I'm excited to have a Dos Coyotes in Natomas! read more

Went here for lunch before touring the tech institute UTI close by. Dos Coyotes was super! I tend to use guacamole as a barometer for the rest of the food, and it was excellent. And guess what? The rest of the food was excellent, too! So I'll continue to use guacamole as a restaurant food quality barometer. When I'm back to UTI I'll definitely come by again. I'm guessing they have multiple locations. Seems like a chain, maybe franchise, so perhaps I'll be lucky enough to find one near where I live. read more

Stopped in recently for their 1 yr. anniversary $5 border burritos. Ordered steak with no salsa, no beans, and no sour cream, to go. I made sure to repeat my specifications to the friendly cashier. It was brought out to me just as I finished filling my little plastic cups at their awesome salsa bar. Brought it home to my man and after eating almost 3/4 of it, he came across sour cream! It was if they started to put sour cream and then realized it was NO sour cream, but were too lazy to fix it or make a new one. Ugh. People ask for certain food requests, not just for personal tastes but for allergy issues. This location is always hit or miss. Mostly miss. They need more consistency and quality control. Sometimes the food is very sloppy and dry, or lukewarm. Last night our food was terrible. This is definitely my go to spot for late night salads! I know it's been open for a while now, but last week I tried their Yucatán Salad! And let me tell Ya'... my Hubby and I shared that salad and I had some left over! It comes with; Mixed salad, corn, jicama, red onion, black beans, tomatoes, fruit salsa, chicken breast and one ounce of Southwestern vinaigrette (served on the side). Normally I dont give any restaurant bad stars but the food was just sad to taste. The stars here are only for the friendly staff who in my opinion should get an actual chef who knows the cuisine. We always wanted to try Dos Coyotes specially the one near Arden, but haven't had the opportunity. Much to our surprise this branch opened in Natomas and boy was it crowded the first couple of days it opened. We finally dined today. Nice big restaurant with lots of seating, a beautiful salsa bar offering mild & hot salsa-separately placed in colorful bowls with wooden spoons. Every bowl placed on perfect cubed ice. I was loving everything about the look & the feel. We ordered Red chili enchilada vegetarian with black beans for me and 1 mahi mahi taco & 2 chicken tacos for my husband. Being a Mexican restaurant you would except the food to be spicy (when you have explicitly specified it to be) but there wasn't even one ounce of chili or spiciness to it. Non of the salsa were good enough. Just ok would be a stretch too. My enchilada was covered in cheese but there wasn't any taste to it. Simply bland even after adding the chilis & onions from salsa bar. The beans were ok. My husbands tacos were great either. Over all nice people, but boring food. Do not recommend it! read more

I was excited when my husband told me that a dos coyotes had opened up in natomas. We usually go to the one on 65th but that's a drive. We went on a Sunday afternoon and the place was empty so I was surprised it took a long time for us to get our meal. However, the food was good and the staff was friendly. My husband and daughter loved their food. I was kinda disappointed because the Cesar salad I ordered was on the smaller side and i got only a few pieces of chicken ( see picture). I've been to the dos at Arden, 65th and both of the ones in Davis and I think it's the first time that I wasn't completely satisfied. I'm sure I'll be back and depending on how that goes we'll see if I have to continue driving all the way to 65th. read more

Came in for lunch on a Tuesday just after noon. There was only a few customers present. I ordered the Navajo nachos with added steak and extra sour cream and without black beans plus a soda to drink. The lady that took my order was pleasant and I was excited for my food. By the time I got back to my seat from fetching my drink my food was waiting for me. To say that I was disappointed would be and understatement. The nachos had minimal cheese and small spoons of sour cream and guac. The steak was placed almost as an afterthought. On top of that half the tortilla chips were burnt from whatever process they used to melt the cheese. That process also turned the cheese into a hard rubber-like substance. The steak was flavorful but dry; some of the bigger pieces almost had the consistency of jerky. I had to go up to the counter to request more sour cream and I asked for two cups since the person filling the sour cream cups was half filling them and scraping off the top. Portion control to the max. Thankfully they allowed me to get two half-cups! The nachos do not come with steak by default so thankfully I chose to upgrade, although this was $14 that I wish I could get back. read more

This is NOT anything like New Mexico Style Food AT ALL! Had the enchiladas the sauce tasted like chef Boy Ardee Caned spaghetti sauce. New Mexico style enchiladas are blue corn, with a rich Mexican red sauce. The food sucked for $24 for caned hard sticky refried beans and flavorless brown rice, which is also not New Mexico Style Mexican food. This place I would avoid if I were you. read more
