I noticed one of their vans in Los Angeles and took note of their phone number. I called and arranged for a quote. Leo came to my house in Hollywood to review my belongings. He was professional, courteous and well-mannered. After a few days he sent the quote which was remarkably low and I felt I needn't look further. Leo assured me it would be a straightforward move and that if I needed to change the date he could be flexible. As it turned out I did need to postpone the move by one week. True to his word he said it would not be a problem and we arranged the move one week later. The move was flawless!!! I had spend weeks packing my belongings and as it turned out I had over prepared. Had I know how efficient they would be I would not have spent so much time packing everything myself!! I was concerned that the van wouldn't take all my furniture. I needn't have been. I managed to take everything and much more than I had planned. The actually price was exactly as he quoted. It was a 120 mile trip, I was sure the price would be more as gas prices had risen considerably since his initially quote but still it did not effect the final price. I hired this company for a labor-only move to load my belongings into four U-Haul U-Boxes parked directly in front of my garage. The job was on the first floor with no stairs. The move included approximately 30 packed Home Depot extra-large moving boxes (most of them were already stacked three high), two refrigerators (one was already outside in front of the garage and the other was a French-door refrigerator inside the house), one washer, one dryer, two six-drawer dressers, three disassembled bed frames, two queen-size mattresses, two full-size mattresses, one disassembled sofa, two nightstands, one bookshelf, and a few smaller items. While the hourly rate was reasonable, I was disappointed with the crew's efficiency when handling the refrigerator. One of the movers spent about an hour trying to figure out how to get the French-door refrigerator through a standard doorway. Instead of removing the refrigerator doors, he attempted to remove my home's metal security door using my own tools because the crew did not bring the necessary tools for that task. He also told me that removing the refrigerator doors would take too much time. In addition, the crew told me they do not disconnect the refrigerator's water supply, so I had to disconnect it myself before they could move the appliance. Throughout the move, I also helped carry items and assisted the crew instead of simply supervising. Since I was paying for two professional movers, I expected them to handle the work without needing my assistance. Overall, the move was completed, but based on my experience, the crew appeared to have limited experience handling larger appliances. I expected professional movers to have the proper tools and know the standard procedures for moving a refrigerator safely and efficiently. I am giving them a 2 star for the courtesy of the 3 movers that took care of our move for their personal effort. I had sent the company pictures of all my furnitures and stuff that needed to be moved. Considering that they had all the information about the size and amount of furniture and stuff and they knew I have a two bedroom they sent a small truck 16ft instead of a large one. (Their quote included the large truck of 26ft). Boxes, tools, disassembly and assembly were included in the quote but they came with 6 large boxes and 4 small ones. They had no tools with them. All of these and the added trip caused at least an extra 2-3 hours waste and added time. The HOA in the building gave us only until 5 pm to use the elevator so these mistakes put us under a lot of pressure. I got lucky I had almost packed all my stuff out the raise I had to do the move in two days and I could not meet the end of my lease. At the end they also charged me an extra 1.5 hours overtime for their labor. I also got lunch for them but that was for the crew and not the business. Not too bad but they are just doing this transactionally and you may get screwed for their mismanagement. Not recommended. read more

They started off with the lie saying their prices are $99 per hour, but it was $109 per hour. The day of my move, they didn't bring a truck big enough to accommodate my backyard furniture in which I told them I have backyard furniture therefore I had to pay a separate moving company to move that furniture. They also told me they will mount my TVs back on the wall at the next location for a small fee. I was cool with that but the small fee was like $500. They also start talking about overtime which I was not aware of. They also wouldn't plug up my waterline for my refrigerator. I was not happy with this moving company and the guy came in talking on both ends instead of working and the other guy he had with him didn't speak English,,,, not good. read more

I was looking for a moving company super last minute because the building I was moving to took a long time in the approval process and didn't finalize approval until 2 days before moving. DoStar was available on short notice. The service was great. They were punctual. I saved a parking for them in front of my building. All of my furniture was in tact at the end of the move. They built back the furniture that needed to be taken apart. The workers did their job quickly and efficiently. I did move out of LA county so it was a far drive. I did have a bit of an issue when it came down to what I was charged but after reaching out and having the office review the billing, we came to an agreement and the issue was corrected. Overall, a great choice and grateful that they were available when I needed them. My move was expensive because I was moving very far away so the mileage fee and double drive time was clear and included in the contract. The traffic was gnarly but the drivers were very gracious and in a great mood all day. Would hire them again if I ever move back to LA. Separate advice, If you are moving a far distance and want to save some money, get your own moving truck, hire a moving company like DoStar to load the truck, drive the truck yourself to the next location and hire a different company in your new town to unload. That way you save on the mileage fee, time and mileage charged for the double drive time and time stuck in traffic. Assuming you're ok with driving a huge moving truck. I have driven the largest Uhauls in the past but I didn't think about this until after I was charged. read more
