Our dog loves to play but can also be independent-minded and reactive. The daycare staff intentionally groups dogs that play well together and genuinely care that the dogs have fun. My dog greets the staff as enthusiastically as family. I scheduled a grooming appointment expecting the groomer might be able to partially wash him if they're lucky since the veterinary office suggested we give him a sedative before the next visit. My German Shepherd Damian has been going to Double Dog Dare Ya for over a year now, several times a week, and it's been a great fit for him. The moment we pull into the parking lot, he gets SO excited -- tail wagging, whining with happiness, ready to run in and greet everyone. Seeing that kind of joy says everything. Everyone who works there is caring, attentive, and playful with the dogs, and it shows in how Damian interacts with them. He's also boarded there for multiple nights, and those experiences have always gone smoothly. It's become his home away from home, and it makes traveling a lot less stressful knowing he's in a place he knows and likes. Both of my dogs LOVE Double Dog. We now have to spell Double Dog if we are not immediately taking them because they know the name and get beyond excited to go. One service I really love is the non-anesthetic dog teeth cleaning / scaling. It's way less traumatic for my dogs and much less expensive than doing it through the vet (which requires pre-op blood work). My dogs already know and love Jerry, who does the service, so it's not stressful for them - and he really does a great job. As a bonus for me, their breath is also way better after this service! So in addition to great daycare and grooming, consider teeth scaling! It keeps your wallet and your pet happy and healthy in my experience! read more

I think this is a better daycare option for big dogs since the big dog daycare is outside and feels just a bit bigger. We checked our small dog in for daycare and did not realize that the small dogs are kept in a small room for the ENTIRE day (no outside breaks). It looks like there is a small back area that may be open to the outside for them to relieve themselves but not an area for them to hang out or sunbathe. The bigger disappointment for me was that the dogs were checked on VERY infrequently. I'll admit I am a first time dog daycare owner but it took me by surprise that there was very little human interaction throughout the whole day. I try to put myself in a business owner's shoes and only comment on the things that are in their control but I do think it would be nice for a human to hang out with these dogs a little more. If your dog is SUPER social then it may not be a concern for you but something to keep in mind for others. read more

We recently adopted a pup who was left tied to a post outside East Valley shelter. She had signs of abuse and was wearing a prong type collar that was partially embedded in her skin. She is friendly towards people, but I was nervous about introducing her to our other dogs. Kevin came to our house, and we took the dogs for a walk together He showed us how to keep control of her if it seemed she might get aggressive. We ended the walk hanging out in the driveway and the dogs seem to be fairly friendly, He taught us some basic dog psychology and gave us tips that will be useful in future training. We found them over a year ago because our recently adopted boy Rhett had terrible separation anxiety. He didn't do well with crates and we couldn't leave him alone in the house. Jerry, the manager was great on the phone. We brought Rhett for his first daycare visit and evaluation. That was May of 2023. We've since adopted another boy, Travis. Our first experience with boarding at Double Dog was... mixed. The check-in was perfect to be honest. A really nice lobby and set up, and the young lady checking in our pup was very friendly and enthusiastic that we were there. Left feeling great. Here's the only challenges we had. They very much encourage pet owners to go onto the live camera feed to keep an eye on their dog at check-in, which was obviously a big bonus for us. In the past, we have checked our dogs into Wagville and this has been a nice option. I sent the link to my girlfriend so she could occasionally pop in and watch our pup as well and we both noticed after three or four hours that the dogs themselves get almost know human engagement at all. Very small, rundown room with a few cots (which honestly is not that big of a deal... I get it... Dogs are not known for keeping things nice) were there were six or seven small dogs wandering around barking at the gate. My assumption is this was for some attention. Well after checking many times throughout the first day or two we noticed a theme that they are checked on very infrequently. I will be the first to say that maybe we just missed the time where staff are actually in there with them, but we got to a point where we were counting the hours to go get our dog because he seemed so lonely and neglected in the space. I think we would use double dog as a back up option moving forward, but given the neglect, his lack of eating and the way he smelled upon picking him up. I can definitely say this will not be our go to choice moving forward. We wanted to love this location, but unfortunately, we're not totally satisfied with the stay for reasons mentioned above. read more

We've had our dogs stay at a few different doggy hotels in our day. We just moved, and this spot is close to our new home. I cannot express enough positivity about Double Dog. We've been taking our hyper Golden Retriever there for over a year now (since he was a puppy!). I could not be a bigger fan of Double Dog Dare Ya or love the team there more than I do! My dog has been going there for almost five years -- both daycare and boarding -- and it feels like a second home and his extended family. The entire facility is very clean and they do a great job of keeping the dogs calm and relaxed and avoiding the kind of conflict that can come when you have lots of young dogs in a yard together. But what I've always loved most about DDDY is that - from the owner all the way down to the newest team member - it's never felt like they were "just doing a job" -- you really feel like they love the dogs, and especially your dog. :-) I give them an A+ and 5 stars!!
