Yesterday may have been our ninth visit and appointment at Rainbow Vet Hospital. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The vets are well versed and also friendly and more importantly you can tell they love animals and care:) We have three rescue dogs and take them all to Rainbow. Ive seen the negative reviews and that has not been my experience in the last year since first going there in April of last year when we adopted a dog from valley shelter and her free vet care (via valley shelter) was done by Rainbow Vet. We've tried many other vets prior with our rescues over the years yet of them all I have faith in Rainbow and feel that the service there is the best of the lot. As someone who once worked with working dogs to having dogs in my family since childhood I just feel comfortable at Rainbow as their staff care which is something we don't often get from other vets where employees seem to hate their jobs or dealing with customers and their pets and it's all about money i.e. soaking us for every penny they can if they can. Rainbow are and have been a completely positive experience for us and our three rescue dogs for one year almost to the day. Again have tried other vets who all seemed too concerned about how much can they throw on our bill or just too busy or disinterested to help us when we were in need of help with our four legged children. read more

We recently adopted two kittens, and a friend recommended Rainbow Veterinary Hospital to us. I'm seriously so thankful they did. One of our boys got really sick within the first week of having him, which was scary, especially being a new cat mom. We've been here twice now, and both vets who have seen our boys have been amazing. They were knowledgeable, kind, patient, and never made us feel rushed. They gave my daughter and me plenty of time to ask questions and actually understand what was going on. Being a RN myself, I really appreciated the way they cared for our kittens. It honestly reminded me of bedside nursing, just for animals. The patience, attention to detail, communication, education, and compassion were all there. What stood out to me even more was how they included my daughter in everything. They took the time to explain things to her in a way she could understand, showed her how certain things worked, and talked to both of us about what we should be watching for at home. As a mom, that meant a lot to me because these are her babies too. The vet techs were also amazing, especially when our little guy was sick. They were gentle with him, patient with us, and never made us feel like we were taking up too much of their time. Their prices genuinely make sense for the level of care you receive. Nothing has ever felt pushy or like they were trying to sell us something. If they recommend something and you're unsure about it, ASK questions! They'll explain what it is, why they recommend it, and let you make the decision before paying for anything. I never once felt pressured. They also offer so many different services, which is really convenient. As a new cat owner, it gives me peace of mind knowing we have one place we can continue bringing our boys as they grow and that many of their needs can be handled in the same place. Even the front desk and customer service have been exceptional. I've had questions about appointments, medical records, and pet insurance issues, and they've always been quick to respond and willing to help. They are open Saturdays which was a huge plus for us! We've only had two visits so far, but they made a really stressful first week with our kittens so much easier. From the vets and vet techs to the front desk staff, we've genuinely had such a positive experience. I'm so grateful our friend recommended Rainbow to us, and I feel really comfortable knowing our boys are in good hands here. read more

I've tried to give this place a chance multiple times and this was the last straw today. Every time I have a scheduled appointment I am left waiting for over an hour for my pet to be seen. I scheduled a grooming for my dog and upon bringing her in I expressed very clearly I want to minimize her time spent there as she just had a traumatic experience after her spay and she's very anxious at the vets office. I wrote down on my release form to please be conscious of her belly area and the front desk girl told me I didn't need to write anything down. I expressed that I wanted to make sure that was in writing to the groomer, as I don't exactly trust this office in conveying information. I asked how long this would take and when the groomer would be in since my appointment was at 9am and her answer was " he's usually in around 9am" Also not reassuring. " around 9" is not exactly a professional answer for a scheduled appointment. I requested they called me if she was too anxious. I leave my dog, an hour and a half goes by and I get a call that the groomer got a flat tire and it would be longer. AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER to tell me my already anxious dog I warned her about was stil sitting there and not being groomed. She was the only dog there and she was going to be there for now 4 hours?! I understand things happen but if you don't have a plan for staff emergencies it is unacceptable to wait an hour and a half to inform me of this after I repeatedly stressed I wanted to minimize her time there. Something very conveniently happens everytime I have an appointment there that ends in me and my pets waiting an absurd amount of time with a stressed animal. I immediately went to get my dog after knowing she was not going to get the service I booked for her for another 3 hours. Disappointed. read more

The cost itself is not the issue--this is about being put on record regarding the pattern of care and billing practices. Second, you stated that you do not pre-charge for services. However, on our first visit, we were charged for a second visit in advance, meaning that follow-up was already paid for. That directly contradicts what is being stated here. Third, you mentioned this is based on "medical judgment and standard of care." That may be the case, but we have formally requested a written explanation outlining the specific medical necessity, and we still have not received a direct response addressing those questions. That lack of transparency is a major concern. Also, across each visit, we were consistently presented with additional products and services, including items that were not brought up previously. From a client perspective, it feels less like a clear treatment plan and more like separate billable visits. For additional context, we sought a second opinion, and another veterinarian prescribed the same medication without requiring repeated visits for the same condition. That further raises questions about the necessity of the approach taken here. At this point, I am simply asking for a clear, written medical justification for requiring another exam for the same condition despite prior visits. I generally don't write one-star reviews but in this case I think I should because people need to know what's going on and this business needs to take corrective action. I selected one star because it's for "not good" even though the service I received on Monday could have been rated at 4 stars except for one thing. I'll explain. My cat had emergency surgery last weekend at TrueCare Studio City for an abscess infection of one of her anal sacs. She went in Saturday at 2AM and I picked her up at 6 AM. I had to take her back again Saturday afternoon because they wanted to see her after I called to let them know she was not urinating even though she was straining in the litter box. She finally produced her first urination at 6 AM on Monday morning, so she had not urinated for 48 hours plus. I was quite concerned for her. To Rainbow's credit, they gave me an early appointment on Monday and I was glad to have it. And during the appointment they gave my cat an antibiotic shot that has proven to be very helpful. However, my cat needs further treatment of her anal sacs. But, the doctor told me that he would not treat my cat unless she gets a Rabies vaccine. I tried to explain to the doctor that my cat has not done well after previous vaccinations and that I did not want her to be vaccinated but he would hear none of it. No Rabies vaccination, no treatment. I tentatively agreed to the vaccination (thankfully, they were not able to give it concurrently with the antibiotic) and set up my next appointment for Wednesday. In the meanwhile, I called the Burbank Animal Shelter to get the lowdown on Rabies vaccines for cats and was told that they are not required by law in Burbank. So on Wednesday morning early, I called Rainbow to inform them of this and they said they could transfer me to another doctor who was 'less strict' for an appointment on Thursday or Friday. At the point, I cancelled my appointment and will be taking my cat elsewhere. Bottom line: if the Rabies vaccine is not required by law in the City of Burbank, it is the customer's choice, not the doctor's dictate, to get this vaccine for your cat. I hope this review helps someone and causes Rainbow to change their policy. read more

We recently switched over to Rainbow Vet to take care of my senior dog. We chose Rainbow Vet particularly because they offer grooming services, and our longtime groomer recommended that he be groomed in a controlled environment at the vet. They also offer boarding, which is helpful with an aging dog that takes meds. I can trust that he is getting the care he needs while we're away. The issue, however, is even with appointments, you can wait quite a while. We've waited over an hour to be seen twice recently for a 20-30min appointment. It's really inconvenient and I wish they would call to just postpone your appointment instead of making you wait without being seen. It seems like this is a recurring issue at Rainbow Vet, so it feels like they could do a better job in their scheduling system. read more

After multiple visits for the same issue, it feels unnecessary. This doesn't seem like a one-time situation, which is concerning. My rabbit died after seeing this vet. She was only four years old. She did go over the rainbow bridge. Maybe that's why they named it Rainbow Veterinary Hospital beware. Everyone was extremely kind and professional. The only thing for me was that when I had called to make an appointment for my 2 older cats to get health certificates so that they could fly, no one asked when I expected to travel with them. I didn't know it had to be done within 30 days of travel and not one person in the office mentioned it to me until I had already gotten there. My cats got their required vaccinations, but now I have to go back to comply with the 30 day window. If that question was initially asked, it would have saved me a huge hassle. Sign could be bigger or brighter, hard to see. Staff was nice and efficient. Did have a newbie on the desk, but she was willing to find out when she wasn't sure or didn't know something (always a good sign to me). Didn't care for doc's manner. Called my dog fat before putting a hand on him. Lectured me about his dog food even though he wasn't familiar about the brands. Scheduled an anal without asking me (he gets one every time he is groomed) every 6 to 8 weeks by professionals. Do yourself a favor and don't take your pet here. Their scheduling is a complete mess. You will wait at least 15-30 minutes just to get called into a treatment room. The receptionists are actually really nice though they look like they have way too much on their plates. Now for the most Important part, the professionals... So my pet has had skin infections and issues for over two years now, and I've had multiple visits, over 10 at least to address her skin issues. The vet has been running me through the mud, blood, and in circles for the past two years and guess what?!? My dog still has skin issues. The professionals here aren't looking to address your dogs issues, they looking to make the most $$$ off of you. Dr. Steadman has been treating my dogs skin issues with ORAL antibiotics for the last two years. ORAL MEDICATION WHICH COSTS UP TO $100 for a month worth, for the PAST TWO years!!! WHY ARE WE TREATING SKIN ISSUES WITH ORAL MEDICATION?!?! Not once did he recommend antibiotic shampoo, which costs maybe $20-$30 and gets rid of the lesions in literally two days. Instead, I've had to have my dog take oral medication for almost an entire month, just to see her skin issues clear up and eventually flare up again. This place is a joke and I will never take my pets back here. I've had another experience with this specific veterinarian in which he took my dog to the back to do an assessment and then came back to the lobby and began to give his recommendations in the lobby in front of everyone else, because they were so busy that they didn't even have a treatment room for my dog, even though I made an appointment. To add, they tried to charge me for an actual visit when I never once even got to step into a treatment room. If you wanna get played around and continue to go back and pour your money into this business by all means, feel free to do so. A real veterinarian will educate give proper recommendations and address your dogs concerns accordingly. This place is FAR from that. read more

horrible experience at rainbow vet. first time patient brought in my dog for an ear infection. I've been taking him to vca but they were not available. Rainbow Vet had me wait in their waiting room for an hour and a half. When I got to the back room and got to look at the doctor in the face. He was blatantly rude about what I was feeding the dog, but couldn't tell me what to feed the dog. I let him know he had a cist on his right leg as a puppy that I asked the last vet to address and wondered if he saw anything about his hips. He said he wanted to see the records from the Vet and laughed at me when I tried to advocate that I do believe there's a big problem with the dogs hips. OK, so he leaves they take the dog back. Saying going to check his gait. I sit in that room alone for 45 minutes.. Nurse man comes back not the doctor. With a clipboard and he starts listing all of the charges that the doctor wants. I stopped him and said hand me the clipboard and your pen. THIS DOC WAS TRYING TO CHARGE 1400 i crossed out OVER 12 ITEMS that were not mentioned. He didn't even bother putting anything about the hips. i left paying $340. For two ears being cleaned out with antibiotic drops. No aftercare. I've been coming here for years and it's progressively declined in service and quality of vet care. The DOCTORS, cause it's multiple vets there, are inconsistent when it comes to their work. One tells me one thing and another doctor tells me another. Plus my dogs hate it here, and now I know why. I recently asked for my pets records cause I'm going to get a second opinion and just cause I won't pay their 8THOUSAND dollar surgery on my pet, they wanna make me wait to get the records. They NEVER did that before they've always given me copies of records there and now cause I said I'm getting a second opinion for my dogs' knee problem they wanna make me wait for the doctors' approval. I've given this Vet hospital multiple chances and now I'm constantly let down by them. I will not be returning here any longer. Do yourself a favor AND for your pets health, go somewhere else. read more
