This place is clean and tidy and all, and it clearly has some loyal customers who love it, but from my one experience there, the food's even worse than it is at other locations of the chain. I spent a great deal of time bonding with the Annapolis TT's during college, and have been to at least a couple others, so I feel I know whereof I speak here. This is another establishment that my wife and I disagree on. She loves to come here, I would rather dine at some of the nearby ethnic restaurants. The advantage here is their huge menu, probably the biggest in the entire area. Almost everyone can find something they like and they do have a decent variety of seafood. They also have plenty of fresh desserts, quite a spread in the display case. Depending on what you order, the portions can be generous. The disadvantages are the prices always seem to be creeping up, the food is pretty inconsistent and the service can be at times decent, but more often pretty slow. One time last year we ate here and the cooks literally got into a fight in the kitchen and slowed down everyone's meals. I wish Maryland had more competition for diners like New Jersey. I am utterly appalled and disgusted. I honestly just watched the manager named Anna cough for 20 minutes, not wash her hands and handle customers place mats as she seated them. I only come here (usually late at night) for one thing: the French Toast Double T Breakfast Special. I've been to many diners in many different states, and I can honestly say that this special is the most food for the price. The home fries and bacon/sausage are alright, but the french toast is some serious artery-clogging goodness. I will come here for as long as I live in the area, because the food (when you play it safe & don't set the bar too high) is generally consistent and will surely fill your late night hunger pangs with friends and family. Service is spotty, and confirming with other reviews, staff seems a little on the shady side (sometimes seriously feels like I'm in a mob's money laundering front or something...I'm sure they're all really good people), but when it's late and nowhere else is open, Double T never does me wrong. OH, and this Double T seems to be a little bit cheaper than the one in Ellicott City, at least comparing breakfast special prices (probably because this one is 24hrs and the EC one isn't). read more

Ate lunch here on Monday July 26: the service was good but the food was horrible. My Greek salad had brown lettuce in it and was very small in a tiny bowl. I've had the same chicken souvlaki at double T in Glen Burnie and it was excellent but not at this one. My friend got wings and they were so overdone they were black on the tops. She ask to send them back and was told that they always come out that way. My other friend ordered a sandwich and ask for wheat bread . They didn't have it. I've always wanted to try this place but I'll probably never return after my 1st and last time visiting this establishment . I came here over the weekend and was truly disappointed with everything about this place. It wasn't crowded but there was a 10 minute wait. We got seated near a window seat with 1 of those juke boxes, Ummm yuck. That thing was filthy along with just about everything else in our booth. I put that aside but then or food came. We asked for syrup for our pancakes and the waitress went to the next table and grabbed a basket of butter and syrup packages. I guess they just pass it around until it's empty?? That's not sanitary. Then I noticed my plate of food had a smudges of black ink on it. Long story short, I didn't finish my food. I just think they need to deep clean this place b4 I'll ever step foot in it again. Worth it: 2.0 ...Nahh. Don't waste your time or money. We tried the meatloaf special, the banana pancake, the brownie, and the Greek burger. We chose to pair our entrees with a side salad and vegetable soup. Double T gives you a considerable amount of food. Unfortunately the majority of the our food was lacking in flavor and texture. Banana Pancakes- It was delicious, fluffy, and sizeable. Meatloaf-The thick cut meatloaf sat on house made bread, topped with mashed potatoes, and is drenched in what we would describe as dirty water gravy. Like...the gravy literally tasted like dirty water. This dish looked so promising but it wasn't seasoned and everything was so mushy. You couldn't taste any of the flavors from the mashed potatoes, the fresh bread, or even the meat. The Greek burger - It was nothing special. It was a burger patty with a giant slice of feta cheese and LTPO served with a side of fries. Brownie- The brownie tasted okay, but they were out of nearly all the toppings that came on the brownie. We had a great quick dinner on Sunday night. This is a traditional Greek diner with great pastries and a huge menu. In fact I think even the pickiest eaters would find something to eat here. We had the fried shrimp appetizer with a sweet orange dipping sauce. I had the Greek gyros. Very tasty with Greek salad and fries. My companion had the Athenian pasta. Here are the Double T "rules": -No splitting checks. If you only have credit cards, too bad. One person has to pay for everybody. -You must order $3 worth of food. You cannot sit with your friends without ordering food. -Splitting plates is a $4 fee. So if someone lets you try a piece of their (likely disgusting) food the restaurant charges you $4 more. I would avoid this place purely on principle. And that's not even counting the angry waitresses, borderline inedible food, and all around attitude that makes you want to put a gun in your mouth. I'm really surprised that a bunch of other reviewers said "the food sucks and the service was terrible" then gave it 3 stars. Proves most people go back to a bad restaurant every day like Rihanna rushes back to Chris Brown after he punches her in the face. Had the WORST dining experience here today. it took 20 minutes for our waitress to greet us, we were about to get up and go to McDonald's right before she came to our table. This Double T diner is a bit nicer than the other Double T diner that is located in Ellicott City due to the newer interior and friendlier service. The service here was prompt, attentive and friendly. The food is not bad and this location seems to have a slightly wider selection of desserts (brought home a slice of cheesecake and Black Forest). I've been on a diner kick lately and Double T was the next on the list. A friend and I arrived around 10/10:30 on a rainy Sunday morning and the place was packed. Luckily Double T has "booths" for tables of two and we were able to be seated immediately. Parties larger than two had to go on the wait list. Our server arrived quickly, as did our coffee (little weak for my taste). The menu is huge so I only had time to get through the breakfast items before our server came back to take our order. I went with the Double T Special - two eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, and pancakes. I skipped the pancakes and it was still a lot of food. While the home fries smelled delicious, they needed some serious addition of salt and pepper. My eggs were poached soft, just the way I like them but they could have been drained a little bit better. The bacon was cooked without being too crispy. The sausages were much thicker than most places and the casing popped when cut - probably my favorite item of my meal. My friend ordered two eggs with ham steak. The eggs were cooked correctly but we both agreed that the ham steak could have used some more time on the grill. Additionally, the menu states that you can get a tomato as a side with your breakfast. What my friend got was some iceberg lettuce and three slices of tomato. Not quite what we expected. In the end, Double T is your standard diner, you'll be able to find most breakfast items you are looking for, but I didn't find anything exceptional about the offerings. The food is good. Service and management suck. I have been going to double t for 20 years. Tonight it took over an hour to get my food. I watched 5 tables that came in after me get and finish their food before i got mine. When i discussed this with the manager he gave a piss poor excuse about new waiters and they never know when it will be busy. The waiter was not new and you brushed a long time customer off. This is a solid, normal diner. I was sort of steeling myself against bad food/service based on all the reviews. But anybody from the northeast will tell you that this is a typical diner, definitely no southern or suburban expectations should be brought in. By that I mean, the only things that you should be ordering are: eggs/toast, pancakes, bacon, fries, ice cream cake/ pie. These 5 categories are the holy grail of a Jersey diner, and these 5 things they do very well. Blueberry pancakes were amazing, eggs were perfect, bacon was crispy, and this diner does alcohol: fab/strong drinks. We were there for dinner and the boys got pizza fries, also excellent. We got dessert to go: cheesecake was also not bad but could have been better. Husband is not from northeast and broke all the rules by getting matzoh ball soup, fried chicken and spinach pie. All of of which were actually not bad. The phyllo on the spinach was a little too brown, but the filling was good. Things not to do at a diner: don't get the salad (obviously not going to be fresh), don't get eggplant parm or some other thing that requires a lot of fresh ingredients and technical skill, Mario Batali is not back in the kitchen waiting for you, finally don't order anything complicated because the guy back in the kitchen has to read how to make it. Service is typical diner service, it might be slow, it might not be, that's life. They lose 2 stars because: 1) no real pourable maple syrup, it's packets of corn syrup from Smuckers. This is completely unacceptable, they should find another way to cut costs. 2) butter did not come on top of pancakes, but in little square packets, also beyond wrong. A big cookie scoop of butter should be melting on top. 3) cake was not of good enough quality. It could have been better. If you are running a diner, you have to get these three things right. Members of my family and I have been patrons of the Double T Diner since the mid 1970's and we never had a bad experience until now. I am not one to complain but I believe in good customer service all the time especially when I am spending my hard earned money. There was no problem with the food but the service was unacceptable. I over heard that the waiter was new but there's no excuse for poor service. I spoke with a member of management about my poor service and they were apologetic and removed my portion of the bill. I visited Double T last week while my car was being worked on at Toyota. Well. I have always been pleased with pretty much anything served there, until I decided to take with me a blueberry muffin. I paid for the muffin, picked up my car and went back to work. When I got to work, I quickly opened the muffin and was shocked to see MOLD!!! I was so disgusted! Unfortunately today wasn't a good experience for me. Service was slow but nice. After waiting 20 minutes I got the wrong omelette. When I did get the correct omelette it was warm not hot. The home fries had a crust of dark almost burnt layer. They were warm too. The garden omelette had huge pieces of mushroom in it. It wasn't good. The last time I was here I had a similar experience. All good things come to an end right? This will be my last visit to this double T diner. I wouldn't discourage anybody else from trying it out. read more

I grew up within walking distance of this restaurant (although I've never walked there, because Catonsville drivers are nuts. Present company excepted.) I still keep coming here because 1) I know what to order, and 2) let's be honest, there aren't many other places in the area where you can get dinner after 9 PM, much less a milkshake at 4 in the morning (and it's a lot, lot more pleasant late at night since the smoking ban.) So, what to order? Their breakfast is reliable, especially the Hercules omelet; I'm not a fan of their pancakes or French toast, which have an ominous bright-yellow cast to them, but their Belgian waffles, home fries and grits are fine, and it's pretty hard to screw up eggs and toast. The owners are Greek, so the Greek food is also good: gyros, spanikopita, moussaka, etc., some of which are only available as specials. The soups are also homemade and excellent, especially navy bean and cream of crab (this one is actually an orange color from all the Old Bay, so you know it's good.) Other options: I like the shrimp salad, either on toast or a green salad (which is HUGE.) I'm also a sucker for really greasy, junky American grilled cheese every once in awhile, and this is my go-to. They have a great dessert selection, also homemade: try their apple turnovers, which are impossibly flaky and light, or any of their cream pies. Oh, and they have a full bar, which is pretty unusual for a diner. It's not really a drinking place, though; I did order a hot toddy once when I was nursing a sore throat, and I was heavily scrutinized by management. What I love about Double T is that it's not great, but doesn't pretend to be either. The servers are a mixed bag, just like the people of Baltimore. I arrived last night with a party of 12 at around 6:30. We went to the Double T, even though we'd all gotten together In Baltimore and you'd think we'd have stayed more local, because one member of the group had gotten a recommendation, and wanted to stay away from the Inner Harbor to avoid anything too touristy. That person who was the main guest wanted to see something "real." The restaurant had no problem seating us, and there was none of that gruffness you can sometimes get when trying to eat out with a large party. Three tables were pushed together quickly. Our waitress was pleasant and delivered the food in a timely manner. Drinks were refreshed without asking. I ordered the Manhattan clam chowder and the meat loaf with a baked potato and peas and carrots. I'd say the clam chowder was excellent for dinner chowder. Good flavor, and I found enough real chunks of clam in there so that I was impressed. I was less impressed by the meat loaf. It's not that it was bad meatloaf, but it was just OK or average. It didn't have a meaty texture, but more of a finely ground pate type of texture, if that makes sense. So it didn't have that homemade tongue-feel I'm looking for out of diner food. It felt a little too industrial. But I liked the atmosphere, and felt well-treated, which doesn't always happen with large groups. I'd certainly give the place another shot. I've been going here for over 50 years. I've noticed the decline in recent years as they switch to ready made & instant ingredients. I may have made my last visit today. Today's visit was for a bowl of the traditional Diner oatmeal, the kind that would fill you up for an entire day, at least. We stopped here on our way to the beach last year, on one of those hot summer nights when the humidity feels like an anvil on your shoulders. It was Saturday night, we'd been trudging around Antietam Battlefield in the stifling heat, and the motel manager had closed the pool after a 10 minute rain storm. So I was grumpy. Just saying. I opted for the Italian Combo sandwich, which would have been good except that they served it cold and the thick slices of prosciutto were impossible to bite through and chew--admittedly, that's one of the weirder criticisms I've ever leveled at a restaurant, but it ruined my meal. In order to rip a bite from the sandwich I had to squeeze the bun really hard and sort of twist my head back and forth, like a coyote pulling entrails from a jackrabbit, and then I had this thick piece of rubbery ham in my mouth. Eventually, all the other fillings began to squeeze out, and the bun just gave up and fell apart. My jaw was too tired to eat more than half of the thing, which cost about 10 bucks. The fries were good, though. I might have enjoyed this sandwich cooked, but it's hard to say. My wife had the gyro, which she found average, and the kids got the buffalo chicken sandwich and some other breaded chicken sandwich I don't remember--all of it good enough, but not great. With drinks and a tip, the meal set us back about $46 (someone got soup), which is way too much for mediocre sandwiches in a diner. We didn't even have desert. The food is average diner and for that, it's a safe bet if you are in the area. Where this location consistently falls down however is the service which is why I haven't visited the Double T in over a year. Bad weather and want of a warm meal while running a few quick errands caused me to give it another try. It took just a few seconds to get seated once the hostess was nudged by the server she was talking to about the weather forecast showing on the TV. The place was not packed and in her defense, I later saw this same hostess entertaining a little girl while she and her father waited for their orders to arrive. So cute! Our server appeared immediately and our drink orders taken though he assumed since I didn't want coffee that I didn't want anything to drink at all. My husband ordered the Double T Special and I ordered the waffles with sausage and a side of hash browns. What came was a bit confused. I was handed the special initially (it happens) and a third plate containing hash browns, scrambled eggs and bacon was placed on the table that apparently we were suppose to share from. That or my hash browns were forgotten. We weren't charged for extra hash browns so.... Our meals were well prepared as diners go, even the potatoes which can taste like they've been sitting awhile were properly cooked. It was, however, the service that left something to be desired. Coffee refills required trying to flag down our server who once our meals were delivered seemed to forget we where there. In general, our server seemed to only pay attention to a table up until the point they'd ordered and the food was delivered then... poof. He did seem to become more friendly after we tried to engage him in a bit of chatter. It felt as if we'd bothered the host who came to the register when we came up to pay. He was pleasant at least but he never really stopped the conversation he was having with someone who appeared to be a regular. Would I return? We both ordered the #30 Double T breakfast combo ... 2 eggs (mine were over easy, his were scrambled) 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 pancakes (he got French toast) & home fries. The service was good & the food came quickly. The sausage links were very good. The bacon was cooked just as I like it, still kinda soft with some chew. Pancakes were what you would expect although I should have bought some King syrup with me. The home fries lacked flavor. They were not seasoned and didn't have any onions in them. Maybe I should have asked. I was satisfied with my meal and the price of it. I recommend and will certainly return. read more

I wanted to like this diner but unfortunately I will not be returning for several reasons. Jumping right into the ugly......On (5/6/2017) I decided to pop in with my daughters and her friend for a late dinner. The table we were seated at was sticky, the silverwa still had the previous, and previous meal stuck to it, our sever took approx. 24 mins to return to take our order. The food arrives about 10 mins after we ordered (yay that's great). BUT my meal wasn't prepared the way I asked and the sever never came back around to check in on our orders.
