I've been to a few other Dough Zone locations but this was my first time at this one. My boyfriend and I had a great experience. Our server was so great. He was very friendly and checked up on us every now and then to make sure we were okay. The space is a decent size. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The food came out pretty quick too. The food was just as good as the other ones we've been too. We were a little sad that the chicken soup dumplings were out of stock since we couldn't eat the other ones due to our personal dietary restrictions. Either way, the food that we did get was still great!

I almost never leave reviews, but after this experience, it felt necessary. We visited Dough Zone in South San Jose with pretty high expectations given how large and well-known the chain is, but unfortunately this was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had in a long time. The food itself was average at best, around a 3/5. We initially ordered four dishes: the Pork Xiao Long Bao, Pork & Shrimp Potstickers, Beef Pancake Roll, and Green Onion Soy Sauce Noodles. The Green Onion Soy Sauce Noodles came out after about 15 minutes, and the Xiao Long Bao came roughly 10 minutes later. Nothing came out after.  About 30 minutes in, we also ordered fried rice since we were so hungry, but that didn't come out either. Only 40 minutes later did a waiter finally approach us after we were sitting there for long. We voiced our concern, but nothing really happened afterward and no explanation or apology was given. We would also hear them approaching other tables that were seated after to apologize , but not us. Another waiter came by about 10 minutes later. We voiced our concerns again, and only then did the fried rice and potstickers finally arrive shortly after that. The Beef Pancake Roll still took another 20 minutes after speaking with the waiters. By the time all the food finally arrived, we were completely frustrated and disappointed. The service was incredibly disorganized, slow, and inattentive from start to finish. We left immediately after eating and honestly felt very unsatisfied with the entire experience. What makes this especially disappointing is that Dough Zone is such a large chain with many locations, so we expected at least a baseline level of service and coordination. Unfortunately, this experience completely turned us off from the brand, and we won't be eating at any Dough Zone location again.

Try this with my son the other day because he was in the mood for soup dumplings. We really enjoyed the crab pork dumpling the most, but we did try the chicken and the pork only. Tried the potstickers which were pretty good. The wonton soup was ok, always tough to beat pay pau's. Service was friendly, the place was very busy. Did not have to wait too long for only two people but anything above that might take a little bit longer on the weekend. Would definitely come back and bring more of the family.

I heard about this place when scrolling DoorDash one day, however, I decided to visit it in person. The decor is cute, modern Asian and sleek. We came here after lunch rush around 3pm and ordered a bunch of food that were part of their favorites and must try's.There were a bunch of items that were out of stock and we were disappointed we weren't able to try it. We ordered the Dan Dan Noodles, Chicken Crispy Gyoza, Egg Fried Rice, Chicken Xia Long Bao, and Pork Xia Long Bao, and the Beef Pancake Roll. I am not a big pork eater so I was thoroughly happy they had Chicken Xia Long Bao. The chicken XLB were steamed to perfection with a wonderful broth. I honestly couldn't tell I was eating a non-pork XLB. The Dan Dan Noodles are one of the dishes they are known for. We were excited to try these as a bunch of places that we eat don't have this offering. We were rather disappointed because the noodles, on the printed menu, shows meat in it, however when we got it, there was no meat in the dish. The flavor was ok, I think the absence of the meat lended to the lack in flavor we were expecting. The beef pancake roll was stuffed with beef and provided a nice crunchy, flaky pancake against your palate. It was seasoned perfectly. It is quite a large roll and can be shared. Overall, besides the lack of some items in the menu and the lack of meat on the Dan Dan Noodles, I would recommend trying this place.

The food was excellent and dishes came out quick. But I had to knockoff two star because the toilet had brown-buildup under the rim and looked like it wasn't cleaned properly in months. And how they handled a customer service mishap. I had lunch with my family and we asked for a refill on our tea from who we later learned was a trainee. When our server returned from their break they explained that the trainee was unaware that tea was charged per pot and indicated that it would be added to our bill. I feel that they passed the cost of a training mishap onto the customer for an item that cost the restaurant cents. With that said, it was off-putting to charge us after it was delivered for something that was trivial. The explanation after-the-fact was inadequate and made the entire dining experience very awkward since most other restaurants would have comped the second tea in that situation. It gives the perception that they were cheap and penny-pinching. Especially since it was a training breakdown. My recent experience was disappointing solely because of how they handled their mistake. And I would have overlooked the restroom had it not been for how they handled it.

Holy shrinkflation Batman! Their dumplings are very deflated. Mostly wrapper and a bit of filling. Hopefully this is just a one time mistake and not where they're headed.

Would give 4.5 stars if possible. Great very reasonably priced options, most under $10 each which is amazing. The Dan Dan noodles were fantastic with a nice numbing spice. XLB were nice and hot and lots of soup inside which was awesome. Dough is a little thicker than DTF but they were really good. Great scallions pancakes which are flakey and very crispy which is key! Enjoyed the beef scallion pancake roll. Easy to use app for ordering in store too. Love it!

I've been wanting to try Dough Zone for a while, so when I found myself in the neighborhood recently I decided to get takeout for a late lunch/early dinner. I used to love dumplings, but haven't enjoyed them at the last few dim sum places I've tried. I was hopeful Dough Zone's would be good. I went to their website to order online and was redirected to DoorDash. I ordered Pork Xiao Long Bao, which are dumplings filled with pork, broth, and seasoning; Pan-fried Pork Buns; and a romaine salad with sesame dressing. The DoorDash app alerted me when my food was ready, which only took 10 or 15 minutes. When I went inside to pick it up, I was surprised to see how busy the restaurant was at 3:30pm in the afternoon. One of the waiters told me to go look for my food on the DoorDash shelf near the back of the restaurant. I thought that was a little odd and wondered if he thought I was a delivery driver picking up an order. I found my food without any issues. Unfortunately, I didn't like any of the items I ordered. The sesame dressing was so spicy that I couldn't eat the salad. As for the dumplings, I can't say why I didn't care for them other than personal preference. There was nothing wrong with them, they just weren't for me.

Was craving dumplings tonight and decided to try Dough Zone for take out tonight after it was recommended by a friend. I used the mobile ordering on their website and found it to be easy and user friendly. The order was ready right on time when it said it would be and pick up was seamless. I found the food to be tasty, but it fell a bit short when compared to other exceptional dumpling places in town. However, the prices are far more affordable, no giant crowds, and the food still really satisfied my craving so it was worth it! The chicken fried rice (3/5) was probably my least favorite thing I ordered. It was missing the traditional taste of a a fried rice for me and was underwhelming. I would pass on this next time. Chicken XLB soup dumplings (4/5), delicious broth, perfect amount of chewy texture and flavor. Hit the mark but didn't surpass it. Lastly, the Dan Dan noodles (5/5) were very good! Perfect texture that you would want them to be with a lot of flavor and the classic "numbing" feeling from the peppercorn.

We beat the Friday dinner rush which was nice! The person who greeted us was very cheerful the entire time so I really appreciated his presence. Cute Christmas decor too! My only gripe is that my favorite dish has reduced in quantity :( Food: - pork xiao long bao: 5/5 delicious, can't go wrong with a classic - pork wonton in chili sauce: 1/5 my favorite dish but it barely had any meat :( mostly ate wonton wrapper which I do love me my carbs but the portion was off for sure - beef stewed noodles: 2/5 delicious noodles, like I said I love carbs, but only four small pieces of beef... - fried pork buns: 5/5 delicious, if you don't liked smelling fried oils maybe skip this but I don't care I like a good crunch on the bottom (forgot to take a pic because it took a while to come out which is fine) - meat pies: 3/5 I was too full to finish my share, but it was decent, again more carb than meat but flavor was alright

Pretty full house when i came by myself on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm after a golf lesson. The service was very good even as a single diner. I've been to the one in Cupertino which is a little bigger. U can order thru scan or paper, i like paper. Ordered the pork xiao long bao , cucmbers, and dan dan noodles. They give hot water. I enjoyed all my dishes. The dumplings look a lil powdery but their are yummy with soup inside. Cucumbers taste fresh and no overly marinated. Noodles were nice as well. Had a nice dining experience and would recommend!

We've walked by this place a bunch of times but never thought to try it out. We were craving some xiao long bao's but didn't want to drive to valley fair and/or wait a long time to go eat at Din Tai Fung so we decided to give this place a try.. I am so glad we found this place because it is simply awesome! Slightly smaller space with ample seating. They have a simple menu which resembles going to a traditional dim sum restaurant - a small paper which you can check off individual items you want. Although it isn't a complete dim sum menu, it definitely has enough. We decided to order the pork xiao long bao, high tail shrimp and pork steam dumplings, sesame cold noodles and steamed broccoli. The pork xiao long bao checked off all the boxes - flavorful soup, wrap stayed in tact, and the pork was delicious, good texture and not overcooked. Goes perfectly with the minced ginger and vinegar. My favorite was the sesame cold noodles. The noodles were al dente, had a perfect chew, the sauce was perfectly balanced and all the toppings added to the texture of each bite. The portion was not overly big but the lower price point matched it. The steamed broccoli was good, although I wish they had broccolini but it was good to have a break between all the saltiness. Lastly, wasn't overly impressed with the high tail shrimp dumplings, shrimp was slightly over cooked. The service was prompt and friendly and they also had some cool lunch specials too. I came here again last night for dinner and also had a great experience so it's 2/2 for me. Another important thing to mention is that this place is very affordable and has good value for the money you spend. I recommend checking this place out for lunch or dinner!

We knew to go early, since they don't take reservations and we often see lines outside. We arrived at 10:30am and the front manager said if we can be done my 12:30, that they had a table for us. Party of 12, since we got there early, we agreed. The side room had the biggest round table for us. They ask you what kind of tea you want, we like chrysanthemum tea. You order the items on the paper menu and it comes to your table. So we got going on the orders and TBH, we must be hungry, because we did a lot of orders (we had plenty of left overs). Tried some favorites and a few new items that we thought were unique to their restaurant. My dad has to order crispy noodle and chow fun, and we also ordered chicken fried rice. The service was prompt and attentive, with enough servers to take care of the side room. Since it was the "sun room", the sun was shining through the windows and it was bright. Review from my parents: it was just meh, they prefer the other place near our house. I think the food is good, but probably won't come back again with a big group of us, since they don't have many big round tables. And personally, I prefer the whole experience of the ladies coming around with their carts. Perhaps their dinner menu is also worth trying. Bonus for us is that we can literally walk to this restaurant. Parking could be an issue if you come later.

Ironically, I'm not a fan of them myself--they're a bit too eggy for my taste. When it comes to dim sum quality and service, I honestly prefer Koi Palace. The food quality there is more consistent, and the service is much more phenomenal. The only things this place really has over Koi Palace are the lower prices and those black sesame custard buns my friend loves! I've been here at least a dozen times, and the food can be hit or miss. Sometimes dishes come out cold, like they've been sitting out for a while instead of being served fresh and hot. That said, there are a few items we always order that are consistently good when brought out fresh like salted crispy pork chops, siu mai, shrimp rolls, and fried calamari. Be prepared for a wait on weekends since it gets crowded. If you're coming with a large group, it's best to arrive before noon. The restaurant is located next to a hotel, and finding the restroom can be confusing since it's inside the hotel. Service is also pretty minimal--they seem understaffed, and I almost always have to flag someone down just to get basics like soy sauce, chili, and water. I don't understand why they don't just have the sauce on the table for guest to dip, but I get that they're saving $ on controlling the cost down. On my most recent visit, the experience really went downhill. Our table had food but no soy sauce, chilli nor water, and when I flagged a waiter multiple times, he got visibly annoyed and irritated. It was frustrating--we shouldn't have to chase someone down repeatedly for basic condiments. Being met with attitude for that honestly left a bad impression. That experience alone makes me reconsider coming back. Good food at a good price is one thing, but poor service--especially to that extent--can really ruin the overall experience.

Doesn't look customers in the eye, provides minimal service, hell, we had to ask the support staff to bring us chopsticks for food we had delivered to us 10 minutes ago, which grew cold. Really unfortunate service from our waiter, other support staff seemed really nice, but he wasn't in charge of taking care of us, sadly. We were thoroughly ignored. Gailan: Fresh and a perfect balance to the heavier meat items. Overall, the sincerity of the staff and the food quality made up for the initial logistical hiccups.

"This service charge is not meant to be a gratuity but is instead used by management for operational costs including providing employees fair wages and benefits." Based on their volume and price with dishes averaging $10 for 3-4 pieces for dim sum this shouldn't be an issue. I had a better experience this time. I reserved on Yelp and got seated right away. We got tea and a menu you can mark up for your order. No dim sum cart to make you order with your eyes. We had 6 dishes with the chive shrimp dumplings and rice roll with bbq pork and crispy roll inside. We got 6 items and with the 18% it ended up being $74 for two people. The food was decent but for this price I would have gone to Dim Sum King and have some extra money for something else.

They get the food out and stamp it off as they bring it to your table. Unfortunately some of the dishes we ordered were lacking flavor. We left wanting more. The Shanghai dumplings were pretty good, the shrimp rice noodle roll is a solid choice as well. Overall solid 4/5 and would come back with friends and family, and definitely make a reservation!! This place fills up fast.

We ordered some of our usual dim sum favorites, including shiu mai, har gow, chicken feet, steamed pork ribs in black bean sauce, and the shrimp spring rolls. Everything tasted really good, and the portions were generous! Even though they don't have a huge selection, they do have most of the classic dim sum dishes I like, so I had no complaints. The flavors were spot on, even without soy sauce, and I didn't feel thirsty after the meal at all, which is already a good sign. I was a bit disappointed with the har gow wrapper because it was a bit too floury. The shrimp spring rolls were fried so much that the shape completely changed, and I couldn't recognize them at first. Overall, we paid around $38ish for two people, which was a really good value for the portion sizes. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I noticed that a lot of people were ordering takeout as well. Highly recommended!

Updating my original review to increase to a solid 4 star review…read more Last night, May 30, 2026, Dad and Thelma treated me to dinner at Pearl Bay Restaurant to finally celebrate my birthday. We arrived around 7 PM without reservations. The restaurant was PACKED with several parties one of which was a wedding. Still, we were able to be seated at a table after about a twenty-minute wait. Below are what we ordered: Macau Style Roast Pork Belly ($22.99) - Good, but on the salty side. Steamed Shrimp Dumpling (6 pcs, $16.99) - Yay for Pearl Bay offering these dim sum dumplings for dinner. These are HUGE har gow because there are two shrimp inside. Double yay!! Sweet Corn & Minced Chicken Soup ($18.99) - Velvety smooth and the perfect balance of savoury and sweet from the corn. Sweet & Sour Chicken - I didn't see this in the menu, but I requested for a plate of crispy chicken with a sweet glaze. Our waitress suggested this and said that she ask the kitchen to fry the chicken to a crisp. Although I would have preferred a little more crisp, I was happy with the flavour. Special Deep Fried Tofu ($13.99) - These looked a lot crisper than they were, but I still enjoyed the little cubes of fried tofu. Crispy Spring Rolls (6 pcs, $14.99) - These fried egg rolls were crispy, indeed. The side of sweet and sour dipping sauce were a good complement. Wok Fried Minced Chicken, Diced Fish & Pine Nuts with Lettuce Cup wraps ($23.99) - I heard our waitress ask if we wanted it with chicken, and I didn't taste any fish in the yummy mix. Very nice. Pan Fried Beef & Vegetable Egg Noodle - This was another special order that I requested. Very good. Dad really liked it, too. Deep Fried Sesame Ball - Yummy, but, again, I was looking for more crisp. Service was stellar again. Now that Ho Chow has permanently shuttered, Pearl Bay Restaurant is looking to become my new favourite Chinese restaurant in Fremont.

It was loaded and had some crunchy tidbits on top. They was also a steak dish that came with shrimp that was delicious. It was also nice to be able to shop after dinner as there is a TJ Maxx Home goods right next door.

The dim sum carts have large variety and are fresh and fast, but the set menu helps alleviate the chaos and the decision of having to pick what to get haha. The food gets delivered fast and is fresh. The set menu has a large variety of different foods, from meat like duck and sweet / sour chicken, to veggies like mushroom and snap peas, to seafood like fish and lobster and scallops, as well as soup and fried rice. The food is served in waves, so there's always a new dish on the table every 5-10 minutes. The portions are massive! We always have plenty of leftovers to last us the rest of the weekend. Everything is tasty and seasoned well. My personal favs are the fried pumpkin, lobster noodles, and scallops, although all dishes were hits. Will definitely be back for the next group gathering!

Plenty of private rooms to dine in, 2 humongous TV, and plenty to space esp for a wedding. Well, we reserved for a party of 24. Placed our order, but the food took a while to come out. It did not seem so busy for a Friday night around 7:30pm. There were plenty of tables available. When our first dish came out, it was the fish maw soup. Which is usually eaten with red vinegar and white pepper, but there was none on our table. We asked for white pepper 3x and no one brought it to us. The soup ended up being ao bland, the only bland dish for the night, because everything else we ordered are SALTY!!!!! SALTY! SALTY! SALTY! We ordered 2 of everything bc we had to 2 tables. Thefried shrimp, SALTY! Honey walnut shrimp, SALTY! Expensive lobster with noodle, SALTY! A few tofu dishes, SALTY! Clams were okay. I forgot what else we ordered, but it was SALTY! And I wasn't the only one who felt this way. Service was HORRIBLE!! I had to ask for water for 3 different people, I order in English and Chinese, and still nothing. The white pepper we asked showed up around the end of meal. I'm not sure if all the staff were new, but it was horrible service. Especially for a $1,000 meal, we want better service, just asking for the bare minimum. Will not be attending again.
