Grand Dynasty has been my go to spot for the last few years, I was usually not a dim sum fan growing up, as I was so accustomed to the one at Grand Century mall called "Dynasty Seafood" because of that I was never really craving or into wanting dim sum, but I do enjoy the dinner menu's usually when there is an event of sort with the crab soup and the duck with bao. So as covid hit, dim sum places stopped using carts to hand out food, and when I heard Grand Dynasty was still using carts for the food I was so excited to try out. Every food item is HOT and FRESH, everything is always so delicious, from the siu mai, pork footbal, fried taro ball, crispy shrimp balls, everything!!! Their space is huge, but to not be underestimated that they do get packed, so go right at opening or before they close mid day. They slowly went from having their own number system for waiting in line, to now using yelp as a waitlist. Staff is always great, but it is hard to wave them down, as I often get confused between who can take my check, who can I ask for sauce or water, etc...

We come here for dim sum whenever I'm back in my hometown. My kids request it because they know they will get consistent and tasty dim sum every time. On top of that, the restaurant is huge and service is always attentive. We have never had a bad meal here. Sui mai and har gow are juicy and plump, all the other staples are solid as well. My nephews woofed down at least 5-6 sui mai each, the love it there!

Fine dining, Chinese style. The exterior of the building is unassuming, you would not guess the beauty and atmosphere and experience that awaits you on the inside! This is our family's new celebration restaurant. You know, the place you go to when out of town guests come and you want to treat them. The place you go to to celebrate a birthday or special occasion. The first time we came was for dim sum, which was soo good! I like that they still do carts and you get to experience the steam that tells you it's fresh. The interior design is beautiful, refined elegances, with marble flooring, chandeliers above, bright lighting, big screens where appropriate, numerous private rooms and details even in the bathrooms. It is a banqueting venue with ample space for weddings and large events. Our family particularly love their large round tables that can accommodate up to 12, as sometimes it's hard to eat all together at 1 table. When we were there for Chinese New Year celebration, they had a special menu with different selections to choose from. There was also a large party going on, where they were able to partition off the main space for privacy. Also there was a Tesla test driving promotion out front. Definitely good business to partner with other services like that, knowing their clientele. Overall, highly recommend this beautiful restaurant. Of course, it is on the high end of dining experiences, but for special occasions, I think it's worth it.

I think this is the 2nd or 3rd location in the South Bay... I'm not certain. Their website is not functional as of this review. I'm presuming this place is related to the one in Milpitas. Everything looks the same or extremely similar inside; form the entrance, to the giant screen on the back wall to the fish tanks with live seafood and the private dining rooms. I usually go to the Milpitas location with my extended family for big dinner celebrations. This year we had a bit of a change. I think this location was chosen probably because the Milpitas one was full. This is a new location, I didn't even know this place was open until I was told to come here for dinner. I reckon not a lot of people are aware... This location was empty compared to the Milpitas one, it wasn't even a 1/3 full when we came on a Friday evening! The parking lot was still jam packed, and parking was a bit of a challenge. It's not the biggest or parking lots. Although I believe this is the same chain, I found the food to be much better at this location. I didn't feel lethargic and sleepy right after I ate, I also felt everything tasted better as well. I can't stand some of the dishes at the Milpitas location. They taste off to me. My family members seem to agree or have the same consensus as well. I'd rather return to this location for future events...

A spacious and beautiful restaurant with classic family style dishes. This was my first time at this restaurant and we ordered a bunch of our favorite dishes that we have ordered from other Chinese restaurants. The service was quick and attentive and they even gave us extra to go boxes for the birthday cake we brought (so that everyone could take home a piece). Favorite dishes were the Peking duck, fried lobster, and honey walnut prawns!

Revisited Grand Dynasty and they are still solid option for push cart dim sum. I do think the quality is a little less consistent than when they first opened, but the food is still generally good, service is attentive, and parking is easy with a huge shared lot. Went on a Sunday before 11 AM and the restaurant was fairly empty, but by the time we left just before noon, there was a fairly long queue out the door. The crystal dumpling skin (the kind on the har gow or scallop shrimp dumplings) were unfortunately much thicker this time around and a bit overcooked, which made them a mushy and not very structurally sound with the fillings falling out. The fried items (fried glutinous dumplings and crispy taro puffs) were actually delightfully fresh and not greasy at all. Chicken feet and egg tarts are always a solid option here as well. TLDR; not the kind of dim sum that will blow your socks off, but it's a classic neighborhood spot that's still a great option.

Very grand, very nice. Some hits, some misses. Spareribs and chicken feet were surprisingly bland, and the XO rice rolls were super salty. The $17 green beans were surprisingly skimpy. Overall, nothing was standout amazing, but nothing was bad. Just your average dim sum in a beautiful renovated setting.

The food was decent, but there was no service at all. We came around 1115am on Sat and got seated quickly within 5 mins. However, It took a while to get our waitress to come and order food. We kept waving at them, but all of them just kept saying we gotta get this other person, basically just pointing at each other 4-5 times. The carts also didnt come very often and not sure if it was because we were seated near the side. They also automatically added 18% to the bill without saying anything about it, which was annoying since there was no service at all. Overall, it was a meh experience, will try other places before coming back

First and foremost, Esmond, the event manager, was amazing to work with. Before we went to Grand Dynasty, I read a lot of reviews for Grand Dynasty specifically for weddings, and the positive feedback about Esmond was 100% true. We felt so taken care of and each time we showed up to Grand Dynasty regarding questions during the wedding preparation, Esmond was present, patient, and always pleasant to work with. We did not feel pressured in any way to make any specific decisions. Weddings are incredibly chaotic. In fact, we forgot to even taste our cake after cutting it because we were behind schedule and had to move along in our program. Though the cake was not cut and served to guests, which was supposed to be done (cake cut fee per table), but luckily we saw family the next day that we could share and distribute the cake to. That would be my only concern to have wasted the wedding cake because it wasn't served. But we could have also communicated if we had remembered. Things happen, but regardless we had a wonderful experience. We chose Grand Dynasty specifically because of the large screen, which we incorporated as a backdrop. We worked with another company called TDE Weddings for decorations, but the restaurant itself already has beautiful lighting, chandeliers, red and gold accents which we incorporated into our theme. They also had a small bridal closet for dress changes where we were able to store our reception items/wedding favors/name cards/seating chart. We were also able to drop it off the day before so there was no need to worry about it on the wedding day. We did choose to book the full banquet hall. Logistics-wise for set-up, we chose to section off the first third for the restaurant with a wall partition which worked perfectly to make the bar area a cocktail area. Our guests loved the dim sum which we ordered as appetizers before the main course, which was incredibly bountiful. Genuinely, our guests kept talking about how good the food was (we decided to go with the Perfect Match banquet menu). Also, we were eating our leftovers days after and it was delicious. We were able to use the screen for personalized slideshows and have a wedding that felt like the most perfect representation of us. It has been over a week since our wedding and we have no regrets. It is definitely one of the most memorable evenings because our guests enjoyed every bit of it but also because we enjoyed every bit of it. Wherever and however you choose to have your wedding, don't forget to have fun! I highly recommend Grand Dynasty and I would most definitely plan future events (not just weddings) here!

Love the decor here. High ceiling, many chandeliers, bright lighting feels more like an experience than going in for dinner. Got many dishes, but some of the highlights were the Peking duck, smoked sea bass and scallops. If I were to compare it to other Chinese banquet type restaurants, this would definitely be above average in atmosphere, service, food and price. I thought the food was just a little better in a slight way than what I normally get and other restaurants. Overall, I would come back for a special occasion or family dinner here.

We went to Grand Dynasty for dinner and dim sum before . Tonight we came here for an events with 300 people for the dinner banquet. It is nicely decorated with pretty flowers wall paper , high ceilings and crystal glass chandeliers. Service is great , especially to handle all the hot dishes in such a large group. A stage was set up for the presentation. Food is 3 out of 5 in taste but the presentation was great . The sautéed sirlon cubes dish was the best tasting dish of the night . This restaurant is good for wedding and big parties .

This was my second visit to Grand Dynasty Seafood for dim sum. My first visit, about a year ago, was just average, but this time the experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered a variety of dishes, including chicken sticky rice, BBQ pork buns, shrimp egg rolls, swan-shaped durian puffs, deep-fried sesame balls, roast duck, siu mai, steamed pork ribs, and congee with century-old egg and pork. Let's start with the positives. The roast duck was surprisingly good. It was flavorful, well-seasoned, and tasted like it had been freshly prepared that day. The deep-fried sesame balls were crispy and delicious, and the egg rolls were generously filled with shrimp. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal fell well short. The steamed pork ribs were among the worst I've ever had--tough, lacking uniformity, lacking flavor, and simply not enjoyable. The swan-shaped durian puffs looked attractive, but they were virtually tasteless. Mind you it cost $15.68 for three pieces. The congee with century egg and pork was also disappointing, containing only microscopic pieces of century egg when it's supposed to be one of the featured/star ingredients. The dining experience ended on an odd note. We paid with cash, and the cashier counted every bill in front of us at our table before taking it away. While there's nothing wrong with verifying a cash payment, the way it was done felt unnecessary, tacky, and unprofessional. We have never ever witnessed something like this and were annoyed. Overall, this visit was a letdown. Aside from the duck, sesame balls, and egg rolls, the food did not meet expectations, and the service left a poor final impression. We won't be returning. There are other places in the bay area with better food, better service and offer better value.

I came here one evening for dinner with family. It is the first time I've formally had Cantonese food in the South Bay. Grand Dynasty did not disappoint, my relatives said this is their favorite Cantonese restaurant as the chefs who cook the food make delicious dishes. After coming here, I agree with them. Everything we ordered was very tasty and seasoned perfectly. We ordered a variety of dishes and they also have specials for the day that they share with you when you arrive. We ordered the chef special fried rice, pan fried vermicelli with steak cubes and scallop, sautéed mixed vegetables and lotus root, beef brisket with enoki mushroom, hand roasted squab and a steamed clam/abalone with vermicelli. All the dishes were so good, but my favorite was their fried vermicelli with steak cubes and scallop. It was the first time I've had fried vermicelli which reminded me of crispy rice. It went nicely with the filling inside the noodles - the steak and scallops were cooked perfectly. I also really enjoyed their chef fried rice, with various dried seafood mixed in, but what is special is the strands of eggs cooked in the fried rice. Very good and flavorful. They also have dim sum in the morning, so will come here to try it in the future. Overall, will come back here again.

As of this writing (12/30/24) do they serve dim sum on carts? If so, is it for lunch or dinner or both? Thx

Dim Sum is only lunch time. And Cart is only weekend.

Can you bring your own cake to be served?

    You have to ask them.

What hours do they serve dim sum?

Lunchtime; so from open to about 2 or 3 pm

Can I order off the normal menu for dinner this weekend or do I have to order off the Chinese New Year menus?

Do they serve dim sum with a cart on weekend brunch?

    YES!

Is this the same Dynasty that was in Valco?

Yes, now expanded and a much nicer ballroom facility!

Do you serve dim sum at night?

They have very limited dim sum dishes available during dinner service: har gaw, siu mai. You can ask them when you place your order. The dinner portion is 6 pieces per order.

    What is the parking situation?

no problem, plenty of parking, large lot

Is it same as Dynasty in Vietnam town?

    Definitely not

Are the dim sum items available at dinner times?

Dim sum is not available at dinner time.

Do you guys host rehearsal dinners?

They have the space and private rooms for rehearsals, but when I went there it was considered to be a 'soft opening' so they are still working out their kinks. Service was slow but the food was very good.

Is it related to the original Dynasty in Cupertino?

    Yes it is the replacement.

They're upholstered in fabric that looks pretty old and worn, which takes away a bit from the otherwise comfortable dining space. That aside, my husband and I really enjoyed the two dim sum dishes we ordered: siu mai and har gow. The har gow in particular was delicious. This is one of those dishes that can easily taste a little "boring" when it's not done well, but Sifu Wong nails all the flavor components. You get the sweetness of the shrimp along with sesame oil and ginger, all wrapped in that perfectly delicate, translucent wrapper. The siu mai was also solid and something I'd happily order again. The half duck was an unbeatable deal at around $24. It comes with that familiar savory sauce you typically get when ordering roast duck from a Chinese grocery store or specialty shop, and for the portion and price, it's hard to complain. We also tried the beef chow fun with black bean sauce, which was a little different from the standard beef chow fun I usually order. It's lighter in color with a wetter, saucier texture, but still tasted good nonetheless. I enjoyed it, although I'd probably stick with the traditional beef chow fun next time. Overall, Sifu Wong serves up solid, satisfying Chinese food at reasonable prices with plenty of variety on the menu. There are already a few dishes I'd happily order again, and I'd definitely come back to explore more of their dim sum offerings.

There's no wait on a weekday last time. 3 of us came here on…read moreSaturday around noon, and had to wait for about 20 minutes for a table, which wasn't bad at all. Even though their parking lot had a lot of cars, it's so big that there're still plenty of spaces. Their inside was huge as well. Because of the high ceiling, it didn't feel too crowded, even though it was packed. They had a lot of servers, too, though getting the attention of one took a while. Our server highly recommended their sea bass 2 ways (congee and chow fun) on their daily special menu. We would have ordered that if they still had fish at ~2lb, but they only had fish at ~3lb, which would be too big for us, as we would like to order some dim sum as well. So, we just ordered from their dim sum menu. The 2 different house teas we ordered came out pretty quickly, but it took a while for the food to come. The Sauteed Turnip Cake in XO Sauce was the dish I liked the most. It could still use more XO sauce, though. Pork & Crab Roe Siu Mai was gigantic; taste was normal. I wished they had chili sauce at the table. We're too busy catching up and didn't bother to flag down someone to get some. The Fried Bean Curd Skin Roll w/ Shrimp was not bad, just a bit oily. The Fried Chinese Donut Wrapped in Rice Noodle w/ Dried Shrimp was on point; it came with a peanut sauce on the side. The Chicken Feet w/ Black Bean Sauce were well cooked and off the bones. The Salted Egg Yolk Lava Black Bun wasn't too sweet; the inside was more runny than we expected. We're already stuffed after having 6 dim sum dishes. Overall, dim sum was solid, but on the more expensive side. While their service was typical for a Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area, they did apply a 16% service charge to the bill automatically, which was stated on their menu.

Went to HL Peninsula, and it was aggressively packed! We came on a Sunday morning and waited over…read morean hour and a half for a party of five, so come prepared. In my opinion, their system for waiting for tables is a bit chaotic. They do not ask for your phone number; instead, they print out a receipt with a number and call it out when your table is ready. There is a monitor inside the restaurant that you can watch, but since it's so crowded and the way the system is displayed on the screen, it's kind of hard to tell what is going on or what your status is. Service-wise, it's exactly what you would expect from any Chinese restaurant serving dim sum, if you know what I mean. :) Inside, the restaurant is very spacious and large, and I am assuming the reason for the long wait is that it's one of only two places to get dim sum in Milpitas (the other being Mayflower in the other highly packed plaza nearby). They do not serve dim sum with the traditional cart system where dishes are rolled around the dining room. Instead, you order from a menu and mark down how many quantities you want of each item. My family got a variety of dishes, but I'll call out some notable ones: * Their shu mai was juicy and packed with meat, probably one of the best shu mai I've had in the South Bay. * Their har gow skin broke apart really easily, which bummed me out, but it was generously stuffed with shrimp. * My favorite dish was their purple rice rolls. It was basically a Chinese donut stuffed with shrimp and wrapped in a purple glutinous rice roll. * The chicken feet were very balanced and not too sweet. * The truffle scallop dumpling had a rich mushroom flavor, and the scallop added a nice flavor profile. * The BBQ pork was coated well with the char siu sauce. It was tender and bold in flavor. Overall, my experience here was great, but I do not think it warranted more than a 30-minute wait. The food also came out a bit slowly in my opinion, but that was probably due to the high volume of people.
