Great value for the price. I wanted something sweet after my flight into Burbank airport. Luckily this is about a less than 10 minute drive away. I came here for the giant apple fritter. To my surprise it was only $2. Knowing this I ordered something else just to try. I saw a huge Cinnamon twist with nuts (my favorite) they have a small private lot in the back. I had donuts here years ago and remembered really liking them. They were good, basic, fresh donuts. I was in the area (rare for me) so swung by. They had more fancy varieties than I remembered, and sadly didn't have what I remembered as my favorite from last time, but they're still excellent. First time visit on a Saturday morning with my wife and daughter, we found a wonderful donut stop. There is a handful of parking spots behind the place but plenty of street parking as well. As soon as we stepped out of our car, we were hit with the smell of fresh donuts. The line around 9am was short but gave us enough time to look over the wide selection of donuts behind the glass. They have quite the selection and every shelf was filled with racks of donuts visible behind them in the kitchen. I chose a coconut flake glazed and a red jelly filled sugar raised donut. Both were amazingly fresh and rewarding. The coconut one was generously covered with the flakes and the jelly one was filled to capacity with jam and no big air pocket. The person behind the counter was very pleasant and patient while we made our initial selections. To the side of the building are two picnic tables and benches if you can't wait to start enjoying your purchase which we did. There's an ATM there as well if you need it. Stopped by this donut spot last night and thought it was good enough to review. Got a few of the classics. My favorite was a chocolate long john filled with custard. All donuts tasted fresh and were the perfect mixture of soft on the inside and almost crisp on the outside. This place is cash only. They have an online menu you can order from but it didn't work for me. An online system seemed a little advanced for a cash only place. They have a small lot in the back for parking and they are open all day everyday which is great for when you get those cravings. It's a little on the pricier side, about $1 a donut, but i would say it's worth it of you are in the mood for some sweet donuts. read more

Let me try to paint this picture: It was around 9pm on a chilly January night. I was doing some late night work and out of nowhere I got the most insane craving for donuts. I figured why not treat myself to a late night snack. so I got up.. put on some sneakers and hopped in my car to drive to KK. Naturally....The way my luck is set up. I drove all the way to Burbank to find out that not only was the HOT NOW light not on.. they were CLOSED for cleaning. Now...as some of you may or may not know.. As I venture on I find myself in the deep pits of Burbank. The neighborhoods are empty and there isn't a soul on the streets. It was almost movie-esq. but not just any movie. Think Wes Anderson meets Hype Williams. I drive on and in the distance I see a faint light shimmering as if it were the North Star guiding me on the right path. As I get closer block after block I see that it's the one and only "Doughnut Hut". Chills ran down my spine. Upon my arrival I knew this was going to be delightful. The dust of flour, sugar and yeast were in the air. The heat from the ovens created a slight dew on the windows that trickled down to the counter tops and as I walked closer, a 2 man crew appeared through the smoke clouds standing behind a mountain of what looked to be California's finest freshly baked goods. PLEASE NOTE: I was greeted with the most SUPERB customer service and at that very moment I knew I was in the right place. After looking over racks and racks of flavors, shapes, sizes, sprinkles and creams I picked out which donut I wanted and they quickly bagged up the work. I could tell these guys were veterans and well respected in the game. This wasn't just any donut shop, these guys put up numbers and I now understand why. Anyway.. I love donuts! I really do and like to try different places, so I really wanted to like this place. I might have caught them on a bad day but I was not impressed with this place and will not return. Parking: There are three regular spots behind the hut and one handicapped spot. When we arrived we were able to park in a space but I also noticed that the street parking was also free. Food: As we approached the guy was eating donut holes. We laughed with him when he realized we caught him. He said they were really good and fresh. He even gave us one for free. We ordered a cake donut and a fritter. I did think the Apple fritter had lots of fruit and was flavorful but could have been fresher. Maybe because I bought a larger fritter it was just ok. It was National Doughnut Day last Friday. With 150+ people in line and 20+ cars at the drive thru at the nearby Krispy Kreme, we decided to go to Doughnut Hut. The line was only 10 deep and you can smell the donuts from the parking lot. You can see donuts in the making at this family owned shop right thru the windows. They were making maple and chocolate bars right in front of our eyes. We ordered a few chocolate and maple bars, glazed, chocolate, and sprinkled donuts. I couldn't wait and opened the box in the car. Been waiting a few months to find a good donut locally. I inhaled a maple bar in 9.86 seconds. Definitely a world record. It was the perfect donut.
