I have to say that I'm torn on this. We had been going here pretty frequently because it's so close to our house. We'd walk over there to get their sandwiches for lunch, bagels and coffee for breakfast, whatever. Recently, however, I discovered something disturbing and that was a LOT of worms frozen in their ice. Now I don't think I ever want to go back their again but before I knew about the worms they had all the best. And yes, I did think it was better than Krispy Kreme but I would have to know that they really cleaned that place up before I go back again. It's a sad day. read more

this is the place to scratch that itch for a donut...fo' sho'. been coming to this mom 'n pop donut stand for nearly 30 years. and i will always give my business to the little guys ahead of big corporate donut dealers. lots of variety; nice and fluffy*; good place for a quick bite if you need something more than a donut -- they do have some sandwiches; fairly friendly staff. now why the *fluffy? well, last night a friend and i went by about 10pm to "scratch that itch". and delighted to see that the stand was open. and having had a really freshly made donut from there before, at a late hour, i had no reason to hesitate in ordering. got home with the "bounty" and proceeded to get that sweet tooth handled. but and i say this with no joy, BUT -- the donuts were not fresh. and definitely not up to par. stiff and pretty dry. not the fluffy yumminess that we had envisioned. so, i took the box of uneaten donuts that remained back to them this morning. i figured it was important to let them know that their "brand" is not well served when they sell donuts past their best. and it would appear that the donuts we purchased had sat out for a long time as they were pretty disappointing. they offered to replace the dozen and/or a refund. which of course, is appreciated by any reasonable person. that said, i will always still go back to donut hut. they will always have my business when donuts are desired. read more

The donuts are pretty run-of-the-mill except for the crumb donut that is fantastic when it is fresh(not everyday). The problem is that the place is dirty. They burn incense on the counter and let the ash fall everywhere and there is a bowl of some yellow nastiness that attracts bugs in the corner of the donut window. To see so many bugs(alive and dead) right next to the donuts made me want to vomit. read more

My sister and I always come here when we're craving something sweet. She's been on some crazy donut kick lately, and I've been a donut-fiend now through association. There are so many donut stands in LA, but DH is bar none the best. They have these glazed blueberry donuts that give my life meaning. They are not overly sweet and have a slight black-tea after taste which I adore. Alright. I have tried and tried to make these 5 star reviews a reality for me, but alas, I've been driven to write a poor review. Let me start by saying I usually pull up to the stand around 8:30pm when the doughnuts are on their last leg of freshness. Knowing this I let go of the idea that these donuts will melt in my mouth. I normally give into a doughnut craving at least once a week. It's a simple stand, with a simple product, which is usually a positive for me! My problem? The employees. BE NICER. Say hello, or at least pretend you're happy to have some business. When I gather a little change and come up for one doughnut, don't give me a dirty look and say, "that's it?" Furthermore, do NOT have the audacity to charge me $1.10 for a 90 cent doughnut. I can count, the tax in addition to a 90 cent doughnut is less than $1. Kind Sir, it may seem like a small difference, but you work for a living too hey? Just put yourself in my shoes, when you spend even the least bit of money on something that isn't a necessity, you definitely wouldn't appreciate attitude or an overcharge. In contrast, I had bought an old-fashioned the week before and the lady gave me an extra doughnut (that's not what I expect, nor was it actually a doughnut I liked), but the kindness propelled a $1 tip for the sweet gesture. In terms of the product itself, I give it a 5 out of 10. I've had most of their selection, and none have been my reason for return; the hut just happens to be on my way from point A to point B. Burbank used to be my hood and I'm bummed we didn't try this place sooner, like when we actually lived there! So low key, yet their donuts are the shizz! Thank you Marvin (on my friends list) for recommending the orange Frenchie...simply the best and so addicting! You can't just have one. I always tend to stop here on the way from a really tough day ahha. This time, I got a donut and some donut holes for me and one for the boyfriend. Since I was having such a terrible day before stopping, I was even more bummed when I went to pay and immediately swallow my problems with a good serving of deep fried sugar ring. You NEED to come here to visit my man, Roger. He is the master doughnut turner and also the sweetest guy. Every hour starting at 8:30pm-ish they make a different kind of doughnut so if you time it just right, you can get there for whatever your favorite is. Pretty sure they start with the heavy buttermilks and old fashioneds and then move on to the ones I love, the glazed blueberry, around 11:30pm. Honestly, most of these reviews have to be fake. I live in Burbank and have given this place one too many chances. The coffee is weak, the service is nothing special and th doughnuts are absolutely nothing to write home about. Top 10 in LA? Please. Go to Stan's or Bob's if you want a good LA doughnut. I am not sure if they recently changed ownership but I am writing this review after my kids begged me for a doughnut this am and we stopped at the DH. A couple raised, a couple cake, a cinnamon roll and maple old-fashioned. All were terrible as the oil used was off. Old at the very least. And stale. I can tell you that not much comes between me and a maple old-fashioned. But I tossed this one. The rest are still on the counter except the two cake doughnuts which my kids ate the frosting off then threw the rest out. Today, the lady behind the counter tried to get me to buy extra doughnuts for a "good price", then snapped at me when I said no thank you three times. The coffee alone is a reason to skip this place. I stopped by this Doughnut place late in the evening one day with some friends and I really loved the fact you can see inside the hut from the window as they prepare those wonderful, sweet pieces of dough with holes in 'em. I was told the maple is to die for here and boy did it deliver. So, my boyfriend's car broke down and we had to have it towed and it had been a bad day, so, on our way home, around 1am, we were driving by and decided to give in to a guilty pleasure - "why not?...let's get a donut!" - and O...M...G....it was THE BEST donut I've EVER had.
