Doug's Day Diner has a variety of breakfast offerings. I was here for the Eggs Benedict and my wife came to try their breakfast . We arrived about 9;15 am on a Saturday. It was quite busy but only had a 15 minute wait. My review is only of the Benedicts, nothing else. The staff was polite and helpful. Amanda was my waitress. She took good care of me. With that in mind, I will let you know that have a "top ten" list for Benedicts. After my visit I was able to rate these "Bennys" in my top 10. #1 being the best and #10 not as good. Now with that said these were viewed as #1 of all the Bennys that I had tried in the Fort Collins area. (approximately 6 different places.) I found Doug's good enough to be #3 in my top 10 while holding on to the 5 star review. My rating is based on 3 weights : 70% = taste 20% = presentation 10% = price #1 - taste: They do use a thick piece of grilled ham. The eggs were a perfect easy. The Hollandaise sauce was made from scratch and had a very distinctive flavor and taste but not just a plain yellow sauce. The reason I review Eggs Benedict is because of the difference in the flavor of the Hollandaise sauce. Their hash browns were shredded in large strips. They appeared to be made fresh. They were lightly seasoned. All of this brought the review to 5 stars. #2 -presentation : It was great. They did come with pesto sliced tomatoes on the side. (unnecessary for me) #3-price: $11.25 is right in line with Bennys with hash browns. Coffee for $3.25 a cup seems to be the norm in a lotta places. I was happy to move these Bennys into 3rd place. My wife had 2 eggs over medium with hash browns and wheat toast. She also enjoyed her breakfast. She took a taste of the hollandaise sauce and agreed it was very flavorful. read more

I continue to love Doug's Day Diner. I've been twice recently. Once for breakfast with me son & the other day for a lunch date with friends. Service remains friendly and attentive. I hadn't been for lunch in some time, so this last visit was a treat! I chose the "Crunchy Bird" with a side of coleslaw. My daughter ordered a burger with a side of soup. The burger and bowl of soup were HUGE!! She finished the burger but saved some soup for dinner. So I felt the cost/portion ratio was very fair. How about taste? I loved my crunchy bird! They didn't skimp on the toppings- heaps of spinach and guac oozing our the sides (in a good way!). Coleslaw was nice and crunchy, too. I will return for lunch soon as there are other menu items I'll be tempted to try. As for the recent breakfast visit, my son happily polished off his breakfast burrito. I ordered the oatmeal with blueberries. My only complaint here is that the blueberries offered initially were scant. A dip sized container with about 10 blueberries. Not sufficient; however, I asked for more and they graciously provided. The homemade jam is always deliciously fresh and sweet. And they keep the coffee coming! Finally a great diner! We just moved in Thornton area and I'm so happy we have a great establishment near us. This was our first time here amazing Cheryl was our waitress and boy is it amazing. All the servers are friendly and helpful and the food is so good. I got the Sharon omelette and bf got The Cowboy Papas. So so good and is a great portion size for the price. One of my favorite places for breakfast! I have been here on several occasions and eaten several different dishes. The parking situation is good and there is a large lot outside. The wait can be a little long if you come on a weekend morning, but it's worth it. The breakfast quesadilla is wonderful! The biscuits are big, heavy, and delicious. Doug's makes their own jam in-house and it is always tasty. I have visited the other Doug's restaurants in the area, and this one has the best service and consistent quality. Come hungry because the meals are huge. I often get the "wimpies" version of some of the meals and it is still plenty of food. The coffee situation is top notch and they leave you with little flavored creamers if you like that sort of thing. Doug's does it right! read more

Fluffy, flavorful and everything a pancake should be. Get one for the table and dig in! Breakfast burrito, huge! Had the veggie breakfast burrito with green chile and it was so big and loaded! Only down side is that lettuce, tomato, guac and sour cream is extra but it's so big that you won't miss them. The papas are good especially if you get them with half red and half green chile.
