I was really disappointed with the tuna poke. Fresh tuna should be the star of the dish, but instead it was overwhelmed with oil and excessive spice. I've had tuna poke many times before, and I've never experienced it prepared this way. The heavy seasoning completely masked the natural flavor and freshness of what could have been excellent tuna. Unfortunately, the dish was not only unbalanced but also left me dealing with severe heartburn the next morning. It felt like the chef focused more on overpowering flavors than on respecting the quality of the fish itself. Good tuna doesn't need to be drowned in oil and heat -- simplicity would have made this dish far more enjoyable. I hope upper management actually pays attention to reviews from customers who are genuinely dining here and experiencing the food firsthand. Constructive feedback matters, and management should seriously evaluate whether the kitchen is maintaining the standards customers expect. Went to ReelHouse last night with my boyfriend for their "Pasta on the Pier" Thursday special--a 4-course meal with all-you-can-eat dessert. Given the mixed reviews, I wasn't expecting much, but we ended up having a great time. Our waiter was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and relaxed, without pushing upgrades. The meal included garlic bread knots (with refills), a light, tangy salad with sweet potatoes and goat cheese, and a choice of two pastas. We tried the cacio e pepe and baked rigatoni--both flavorful, though I prefer pasta a bit more al dente. Huge fan of the outdoor patio here. They occasionally have a DJ playing outside as well. The interior is so pretty with trees and chandeliers. The lobster roll and lobster mac and cheese are fantastic. So are the oysters rockefeller and caesar salad. I went to the ReelHouse with our intern and a colleague visiting from Europe. It was my colleague's first time in the U.S. so we decided on an early dinner that became a great and long dinner conversation accompanied by great food and drinks. Food and drinks are all good but it's a pretty pricey place. Service can also be slow since it is usually super busy and there don't seem to be a ton of floor staff. The inside is gorgeous, but because it was a nice night we decided to sit at the outside bar tables (which is walk-in), the tables right on the water were so pretty but all taken (would recommend reserving). Service was very friendly and rather fast. We ordered the petite shellfish platter and was a good size split between two people. It came with oysters, clam ceviche, raw tuna, lobster, and tuna. I visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago with my dog Emiliano and was told by the manager that pets were not allowed on the patio since food was served there. I understood and respected the policy, so I came back another day without him because the place has such a nice view. However, on that visit I noticed at least four different dogs on the patio with their owners, and no one said anything to them. It felt unfair and inconsistent, it left me wondering if only certain dogs or certain guests are allowed exceptions. Clear and equal enforcement of the pet policy would go a long way in making all customers feel welcome and respected. read more

Cassie and Emily on the events team did a great job explaining our options, and also saved the event day-of when the forecast ended up being 40 and windy in May! In our ongoing quest to try every outdoor-seating waterfront brunch venue in Boston, my besties and I visited Reelhouse, and what a find! The location is lovely, on the Boston harbor, with fantastic views of the city and other harbor sites/sights. The outdoor seating (not guaranteed but easily obtained on this partly sunny August Sunday) provided ample opportunity to view the city, the harbor, and pedestrians out for a walk. We were initially seated at tables along sofa-like seating with bolsters, but we spied a table at the railing that was more to our liking. The hostess accommodated our request to change tables quickly and with good cheer. It took a few more minutes for the waitstaff to kick in but from then on the service was quick and thorough. We started with drinks (sparkling rosé, sauvignon blanc, and Prosecco). Despite seeing many tantalizing dishes being served to tables around us (fried haddock and chips, lobster roll), were able to settle on our brunch selections. My two companions had the crab-fried rice and the smoked salmon benedict; I went for the unique, a dish called shakshuka, a stew of tomatoes, onions and spices, topped with poached eggs and merguez, which googling told me was a type of sausage. The dish came with za'atar pita chips which were used for dipping . The smoked salmon was good but "not the best I've had" (eggs a little overdone, hollandaise sauce okay), the crab-fried rice (which I sampled) was tasty, and the shakshura a spicy (but not too spicy) treat. There was plenty left for me to take home, and our waiter got the kitchen (at my request) to kick in a generous extra serving of the pita chips. There was valet parking, which at $20 did not break the bank. The staff were friendly, accommodating and efficient. My martini was 50% olive juice and 50% vodka - a full on salt lick. Will not be returning anytime soon. They need a full overhaul. My friend's chicken was also very mid & lacked basic seasoning. I went to the Reelhouse located on 6 New St in East Boston. This is my second time coming here and it did not disappoint! Last time I was here I came for dinner but this Sunday I tried their brunch menu. For their main brunch items we had their mini pop tarts. These were handmade and came in pumpkin and nutella chocolate flavors. These were cute but I wish they had more filling in them. If you come here with kids or you yourself have a sweet tooth these would be an ideal choice 5/10. The brioche french toast also satisfies all those who may have a sweet tooth. This was a thick piece of toast with berry compote, whipped cream and of course maple syrup 8/10. The star dish of the brunch was the salmon cake benedict This dish had the most perfect poached eggs and came with home fries. The salmon was also cooked perfectly a true 10/10 in our eyes. The non-traditional brunch items we got were the steak frites which had sirloin steak tips, sauteed spinach and parmesan fries 7/10. I wish the steak wasn't so tough to eat but otherwise the flavor was there and you really can't go wrong with parmesan fries. We also got the israeli style hummus which had mediterranean olives, crumbled feta and crispy chickpeas. The hummus also came with these cumin za'atar pita chips. A great pairing and a very shareable dish. I recommend getting this for the table when you come here 8/10. Lastly, the crab fried rice was another great shareable dish. It had generous portion of crab and diced vegetables in it 8/10. The cost of everything was very reasonable and I would be back again for a third time! I love their ever changing menu! This spot was super busy on a Sunday night! We first tried the crab rice and calamari, both of which were delicious, but I wish there was a little more that we could've shared between six people. For my main meal, I got the burger and was a little disappointed that I only got one tomato and one lettuce (maybe I should have asked for more). The burger itself was yummy, but nothing special. It was a cold and rainy evening the night we went to Reelhouse. When the rain stopped and the view broke, it was amazing! We were all starving and ordered everything under the sun. We had hummus, ahi tuna nachos, tomato soup, fish and chips, a hamburger, swordfish tacos, and truffled fries. Most of the food was good, some of it was so-so. The drinks were really good. I had a very tasty cosmo. The server was nice, but it was hard to get things like cucumbers for the hummus plate, but they did come. I'm surprised at the mediocre reviews of this place. My husband and I are San Francisco foodies. Our local friends took us here via a water taxi on a beautiful summer evening. Our cocktails were excellent as was the fun and delicious food. Our server was delightful and went out of way to get me the type of tequila I like best. Gave her more than 25% tip. For example, we ordered the Spanish Octopus for an app. Sounds great, looks amazing...tasted like...I don't even know! So weird.
