The chicken tenders were also a healthy offering, along with a serving of mashed potatoes. Rubbery and tough chicken, the "blackened" rub was not flavorful. The drinks sounded good but we asked the server how a couple were and she said negative things about them. Black Mold in the water cup, the chips were bad too. The atmosphere is cool though. Had good music and the boat dock is very cool. I grew up coming here by water but lately was really disappointed. I pulled up to their dock and proceeded to head to the bar and grab a drink. I recently had my new jet ski 50 hour serviced and a new battery installed. When I went to leave the battery was dead. I asked around for a jump box and the bartender checked but didn't have one and I made a joke saying I would have given her a million dollars and several of the bar customers even went back to their house to check. Suddenly a young employee from inside approached and had a new one. I used it to start my ski to check if it worked and headed inside to pay my tab. The employee came over and said I owed her $80 per use. I thought she was kidding. She said it was a $300 jump box and wasn't letting it get used for free. I looked it up and it was $49 bucks on amazon. She laughed and said well do you need it or not. I told her mariners code is common courtesy and I wasn't gonna fill her greed. Customers were all disgusted and talking about it. The manager came over screaming at me for telling everyone and I explained that they heard it I didn't need to tell them. She said can it be dropped because the incident was slowly being talked about by everyone. The sun was setting as I sat on the dock trying to start my ski. I explained that it was illegal to ride at night and dangerous but they didn't care. They even called the cops because some of the customers were getting upset by the incident. The cops knew us and laughed about it. I got a ride to hidden treasure and Jerry's tiki bar where I was able to fix the incident. (Two very awesome businesses that even stayed open a little later to help their patrons. I wouldn't go here if I was paid to and just be weary of where you spend your money in a "community" read more

Went into the inside bar - great experience. Janet was our bartender and server. Prompt and friendly service. Knows the menu well. Had the stuffed salmon special on Janet's recommendation. Outstanding-best salmon I have ever had. Cooked perfectly with delicious light lemon butter sauce. The service we had from Janet was second to none. She is amazing- we watched her serve drinks,food and warmth to every customer. The outside bar is packed but the really great experience is at the inside bar. We have done both - inside is the best! It's the day after Christmas, Omicron is spreading like wildfire and there's not a mask in sight. I picked up two of the Hatch Original salads at $11 each and this is what I got. Not even any salad dressing. We ate their takeout before Christmas and it was delicious. Very disappointed after our second visit. Not sure we'll be back. Mask up! My dad is 88 and I can't risk bringing it home to him. He's gotta eat!! read more

Great location. Food is just ok and pricey for what you get. She Crab soup was ok. Don't bother to get the shot of Sherry as it tastes like low quality cooking Sherry and adds nothing. Ordered shrimp and scallop fettuccine, scallops were tiniest I've ever seen, less than dime size. Everything bland and under seasoned. Husband got fried platter. Batter fell off all seafood. Service was fine and food came out quickly. Beer wasn't particularly cold. Not worth over $100. read more

So disappointed in this place.. we had a party of 10. Arrived at 4:30 PM. We started out with some cocktails, beer and appetizers . The beer ordered was "flat". The calamari was lightly battered and the taste was good. Now to the meal.. all the pasta and seafood were very good by all. The 2 seafood combos were not as ordered. We asked for blacken they came out broiled.. the scallops and shrimp were cold . Very small portion size. The scallops were a joke and looked like something from a store bought very small frozen ones. For spending almost $300.00 with dinner and tip we were NOT impressed. Now looking at the receipt it shows the waitress ordered broiled and not blacken.. so guess besides the cook the waitress staff also needs retraining and to listen to the customers request. read more

Been here several times over the past 20+ years and not had issues! Server thought he was helping us by not putting our order in to not flood the kitchen because there were 12 of us! When I wanted the she crab soup instead of a salad he said there'd be an up charge. No problem, until when I got my bill and the up charge was a full charge of the soup! Just be up front! Apps came out fast, but when food finally came, hour and a half later, salads came with the entrees, and an entire meal was missed! Getting our checks was a DISASTER! Everyone had wrong items on or missing from there check! My 13 yr old daughter had 2 beers on her check! Took 30 minutes to straighten out. Food as a whole was good, only thing that saved this 4 hour mess! read more

We had a wonderful experience today at Down the Hatch before we took a river cruise. Our lunch was fried shrimp and a delicious fish dip with crackers and jalapeños a bloody Mary and an IPA. We were going to try to eat on the light side today -- but the amount of food was very generous and tasty! Our service was friendly and fast and we would give this establishment two thumbs up. I would definitely recommend and hope for a return visit when we come back from out of state. read more

Terrible food and mediocre service. They brought our salad and entree at the same time. They brought rolls 5 minutes. The red potatoes looked like they were in the microwave for 20 minutes and were served cold. Second visit: Food was much better. Our server was attentive and informative. The food was alright but the view is probably what most people visit this spot to experience. Be prepared for lots of food, and be sure to listen to the descriptions. If you have the brussel sprouts as a side, you can tell the minute you taste them that they're "boiled" not "broiled". We broil brussel sprouts at home so all of us at the table knew the minute they were put down that it wasn't at all broiled. Good service, not sold on the food yet. read more

I've always liked DTH, going back to the 60's and 70's when I went with my parents. It's been through some changes due to storm damage, but the rebuild is coming along. The food quality here is great. The prices reflect it in that they're a little higher than other local places, but I think the food is also a cut above. This remains a much quieter spot also, just a nice place to watch the river while enjoying some afternoon sun. Can't wait for the outside deck to get rebuilt! Then the 5 stars come out. Right now, those looking for outside will have to go somewhere else. read more

Out of the way locals dive bar/casual restaurant with totally relaxed FL atmosphere. Post golf/business meal with smoked fish dip, calamari and spicy (Bang/Bang?) shrimp apps. Dip was the best Had Parmesan Trigger fish dinner which was first time fish choice; didn't knew it existed as I live in Grouper when traveling FL. Excellent fresh dish with not overpowering cheese flavor; let the taste of the fish come through. Waitress was top notch however one server had nasty attitude serving plates. Calling out the meal being served while group was talking and she got pissed when we didn't immediately answer. Like we were doing her a favor. Two minutes later she's checking her phone and chatting to hostess. Couldn't blame her attitude on having a "busy" night. Regardless a cool place and look forward to returning during better weather. read more

This has always been a favorite of ours. We went for dinner. The waitress was great. We had a group of 16 which was tough for her but she handles it well. Order took a while, but it was during dinner time, so I can deal with that. My seafood sampler wasn't warm so I sent it back to be warmed. It's small, but decent. The parmesan portobello mushrooms were fantastic. So is the bread basket. My wife ordered the Gouda salmon dinner. Very good. It's a good place to go. The scenery is awesome and the outdoor bar has a very nice atmosphere. read more

They're open! Yay... happy for this local place. They've been around since 1975 so they're important to the community. We went today for the opening and the place looks amazing, the view is great, and the food was delicious. We ordered the House Fish Dip, which was fresh and flavorful. I had the grilled fish of the day (Triggerfish) and it was great. My husband ordered the fried fish sandwich which he really enjoyed. The service was wonderful, very attentive, but not intrusive... and everyone was so happy and excited to be back in business. read more

After almost 40 years of supporting this restaurant, we are done! We were seated last night, on a very slow night given menus and told somebody would be with us we waited nearly 15 to 20 minutes while several servers just walked by our table, none stopping to ask if we needed any help. Finally we decided enough waiting was enough and we moved on to another restaurant very close to this place. They were extremely happy to take our order to give us great service and good food. Steer clear of down the Hatch you will not get service and the food is not that great. Spend your money with a business that wants you to be sitting in their seats! read more

Haven't been here since it was redone after the hurricane. Place looks good and what a beautiful location, sitting right in the water watching the boats, I have even seen dolphins in the past. We had a few beers and the peel and eat shrimp with the mussels. Food was really good however the reason for the three stars is the prices, five beers and two appetizers was over $60. Server was good but didn't tell us it was happy hour. Not sure we will be back anytime soon, this place has turned touristy and isn't great for locals anymore read more
