I've been a customer of Downey Nails and Lashes for nearly two years, and the nail technicians have been phenomenal. Their work is consistently excellent, which is why I've often recommended them to friends and family. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the salon's management and front desk staff. Their scheduling and customer service are extremely disorganized, and they seem to have little regard for the customer experience. The salon routinely overbooks technicians and assigns walk-in clients to technicians who already have upcoming appointments. Despite making appointments every time I've visited, I've regularly been forced to wait 15-30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time, even though I make a point of arriving early as a courtesy. My most recent experience was the final straw. I scheduled both a lash lift and an acrylic fill. When I called, the receptionist told me my lash appointment would be at 5:00 PM and my nail appointment at 6:00 PM. However, the text confirmation I received only listed a 6:00 PM appointment. On previous visits, I had been told by the front desk that appointments are not considered booked without a text confirmation, so I reasonably assumed the salon had adjusted my schedule and moved the lash appointment. When I arrived at 6:00 PM, the receptionist informed me that the text confirmation was incorrect, my lash appointment had actually been at 5:00 PM, and I had missed it. No apology was offered, nor did anyone attempt to rebook the service. I then asked if I could still proceed with my 6:00 PM nail appointment, only to be told that my nail technician would not be available for another hour. The receptionist blamed the delay on my technician's timing, which was both inappropriate and inaccurate. I've worked with the same technician for two years, and she has always been professional, efficient, and respectful of her appointment schedule. It was clear that the salon had double-booked over my appointment. Their only solution was for me to return at 7:00 PM, which was not possible given my schedule. This experience was incredibly frustrating because I genuinely love the work of the nail technicians. However, I can no longer tolerate the level of disorganization, poor communication, and lack of accountability from management. As a result, I will not be returning, and I can no longer recommend this salon to others. The business needs to get control of its scheduling and customer volume before more loyal customers have similar experiences. read more

I feel really horrible leaving this review, but after today's experience, I left in tears. I have been coming to this salon for well over a year and have consistently spent between $200 and $300 per month on my fill and pedicure services. Unfortunately, today I was treated like a complete stranger. I had a scheduled appointment at 9:00 AM and arrived at 9:06 AM. When I walked in, both my nail technician and pedicure technician were already servicing someone else. I stood there for several minutes while multiple employees looked at me, but no one acknowledged me or offered an explanation. When the receptionist came to the front, I informed her that I had an appointment and explained the situation. She apologized and spoke with the technicians, who eventually serviced me, but both seemed to have an attitude. I asked Kevin if he knew he had an appointment with me that morning. He stated that they had called to confirm the appointment, but I did not answer. I explained that I did not have a missed call. His wife, Sam, then told me she had called from her personal cell phone and showed me the number. While it was my number, I never received the call. Many phone carriers and newer iPhones automatically block or filter unfamiliar numbers as spam. Had the salon called from its business phone, as they have done in the past, I likely would have received the call. What was most disappointing was that I never received a sincere apology or any acknowledgment of how uncomfortable the situation was. While I was explaining my concerns to the receptionist, she seemed largely indifferent and simply said "sorry." My service was completed, and I still left a tip, although it was lower than I would normally give. However, customer service matters. Loyalty matters. Respecting long-term clients matters. Perhaps because they are currently in high demand, customer service is no longer a priority, which is unfortunate. One thing that really bothered me is the double standard. As customers, we're often expected to be understanding if a salon is running 5, 10, or even 15 minutes behind schedule. Most of us wait patiently because we understand things happen. However, when a customer is running just a few minutes late--in my case, six minutes--it seems completely unacceptable. How is that fair? Respect and understanding should go both ways. Long-time clients should be afforded the same courtesy and grace that they're expected to extend to the salon. I've attached a video so others can see the situation for themselves. I didn't want to have to leave a negative review, but after giving this salon three chances, I feel it's necessary to share my experience. The first time I came in for a pedicure, I had a male technician whose name I unfortunately do not remember. He applied gel polish, but when I got home, I noticed that the gel had seeped onto the skin around one of my big toes. I returned to the salon to have it corrected, and during that visit, I was informed that both big toes needed to be corrected. I was not aware that the other toe also needed attention at the time. I let it go because I understand mistakes happen, and I didn't think it was worth making a big issue over. The second time, my pedicure was done by Nina. During the service, she accidentally nicked my toe, causing it to bleed a little. Again, I chose to overlook it because I assumed it was an honest mistake. Unfortunately, my third visit with Nina was unacceptable. During my pedicure, she pulled out a hangnail, which caused my toe to bleed significantly. At the time, I didn't know any better and assumed this was a normal part of the pedicure process. After doing some research, I learned that pulling out a hangnail can create an open wound and increase the risk of infection. Looking back, this should never have happened. The following morning, I woke up with a painful, infected toe that was swollen and draining both pus and blood. A routine pedicure should never result in an infection. I returned to the salon to report what had happened. I admit I became emotional while speaking to the receptionist, but it was out of frustration and disappointment after repeatedly having negative experiences. I want to make it clear that my frustration was not directed at her. She was helpful and handled the situation professionally. I did feel embarrassed having to discuss everything in front of other employees and customers. After three visits, I can confidently say I will not be returning. I gave this salon multiple opportunities, hoping each experience would be better than the last, but instead, the quality of service continued to decline. Overall, it has been extremely disappointing to pay for a service and not receive the level of care, attention, and professionalism that I expected as a customer. No customer should have to return because of poorly applied gel polish, leave with cuts that cause bleeding, or, even worse, develop an infection after a routine pedicure. I'm sharing my experience not to be malicious, but in the hope that the salon takes greater care during its services and follows proper procedures to prevent this from happening to someone else. A pedicure is supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Instead, I left with pain, frustration, and an avoidable infection. I went in for something very simple. Just a gel pedicure and clear gel manicure. I have never been so disappointed by a service before. I have one injured nail, it's on my pinky. A new nail is growing underneath. I told who was doing my manicure to leave it alone and she proceeded to cut the old nail off. This caused me so much pain. I repeated for her to just leave it alone as it is still healing and I don't want to risk infection and she continued to chip away at it. This caused me so much discomfort for the next few days. Causing it to bleed at work. The clear gel manicure over all looked horrible. Nails were cut and filed differently and she only did what seemed like one coat and the top coat. She then just DOUSED my hands in oil. And left them like that? I am so confused. The pedicure was OK however I just wasnt feeling the most relaxed. They keep chipping away at an insane amount of skin around the nail. Then she said I cut my own nails too short, but they look okay to me. And I still have enough nails even on my pinky for the gel to show. I don't understand the commentary. I reached out, followed the instructions to send pics through text and haven't hear back since. When someone comes in saying to leave a finger alone, I think it's important to listen. This should have been very easy and simple. Just something to make me feel put together as my nail is still healing. I couldn't even relax in my chair. All of this for 75 dollars. Not worth it, especially when given the opportunity to correct this or talk outside of a review. Lack of accountability. After an experience like this, now I know to expect way less from this business. Goes to show a lot about how your business is ran. Money hungry and quality is low. read more

I went in just for a pedicure. Everything was going great until she start cutting down the sides of my big toenail, and she kept pulling until I was bleeding quite a bit. She then told me that it was because I "had an ingrown toenail", but she never even asked let alone I'm not sure nail salons are in the practice to do that. She then put nail glue in the cut area to put it back together because it was bleeding too much. They booked me for 6:30, so 30 before they close but they absolutely rushed to get my toes done, a bunch of people closing around me while I was still in my service and it was very uncomfortable, making me feel like a burden because of the appointment time they confirmed. It's the next day and I'm limping because my toes hurt so bad. The overall experience was extremely uncomfortable and not relaxing in the slightest bit. Their "ombre" looks like a line and the see through, such a simple concept and they failed!. In addition, the nail shows bumps and is not smooth, very chunky and thick!. I'm extremely disappointed with our experience. My daughter and I went in together, and when we met back at the front desk, I immediately noticed her nails were crooked and bulky. The shape was uneven and clearly not symmetrical. I calmly brought it to the receptionist's attention, who then called over the manager. I explained the issue and showed him exactly where the nails were crooked and thick. By this point, I was becoming uncomfortable because people in the salon were staring, and what should have been a simple correction turned into an embarrassing situation. The manager said the nail tech could fix them, but his tone was dismissive and unpleasant, which made my daughter feel embarrassed. When the nail technician came up, she questioned the issue again and began making excuses -- saying it was due to three layers of polish and that she didn't see them as crooked. Instead of acknowledging the problem, they were focused on defending the work. At that point, I told them not to fix it because if they genuinely couldn't see the issue, I didn't trust the correction would be done properly. What upset me even more was that no discount, partial refund, or apology was offered despite the obvious poor quality and the uncomfortable experience we were put through. At another salon I visited in Houston, the receptionist greeted every guest warmly and made sure to offer drinks, which added a thoughtful and welcoming touch. Here, I didn't notice that same level of attentiveness or hospitality, and it made a difference in how the visit felt. If you're looking for fast service and quality design, this place delivers. But if you value the extra touches and a more inviting atmosphere for the price point, there are definitely salons out there that do it better. By the way they don't give you an estimate of price. My friend goes here for nails so I was excited to get my nails done here but I left a little disappointed . I walked in for a mani and pedi and removal for Gel-X. The pedicure I received was good and I didn't have any problems. When it came to my manicure, I asked for normal gel and for my old set to be removed. I showed her a picture of an inspo I had and asked if it was possible to be done on my natural nail. She said no because the removal would make my nails thin which is understandable so I told her just regular gel french tip. Instead the lady cut my nails too short and when I told her I didn't want gel-x she said my nails were already too short for regular gel so I was forced to get gel-x. I didn't want to leave empty handed because I came to get my nails done. While doing my nails she cut me twice, and made the pink way too bright and neon even though we agreed on a dark pink. The floral corner has a queen back chair and swing, for picture taking. We both wanted a mani/pedi which took about an hour. This is my 3rd time updating my review. First review, the male nail tech filled my nails with the wrong red and tried to gaslight me into thinking it was the same color. I get red acrylic XL stilettos. New set every time (ever since the mishap with fill colors) and the male tech argued with me. 1st that they didn't carry red acrylic (like what???) then that they didn't have clear stiletto tips. Proceeded to "advise" me that stilettos weren't something HE prefers and if i wanted something else. Not that he couldn't do them, but that HE didn't like them personally... weird... i also got a pedicure at the same time. My nails were finished 3 hours later, paid $180 and left. I receive multiple phone calls about 1-2 hours later as I'm picking my kids up from school. I answer and it's reception telling me they didn't charge me for my pedicure & i need to pay (additional $60). I had a concert that night & told them they'd have to wait til I'm done getting ready and I'd be there in a few hours. They (reception and nail tech) proceed to call my phone OVER 10+ times every hour. I show up 4 hours later, and as I'm paying the bill (and I'm pissed off over the harassment) the nail tech is STILL CALLING, as i am trying to Apple Pay. all were from different (714) phone numbers. I told reception never to call my phone again, left. They proceeded to call me for an hour (after i paid). Completely unprofessional & unorganized. Extremely, extremely horrible experience -- genuinely one of the worst nail salon experiences I've ever had. The most basic set of nails that were asked to be done (an almond French tip Gel-X) came out SO bad it was honestly embarrassing. The shape was uneven, the nails were all going in completely different directions, the polish was messy and crooked, and the entire set looked extremely rushed and sloppy. It looked like zero care or attention was put into the work. When we brought it up to the front desk, a young girl who clearly cannot handle any type of situation on her own had to go get the salon manager. Instead of taking responsibility and fixing what was very clearly wrong, he immediately started making every excuse in the world. What makes this even more ridiculous is that the staff themselves literally admitted that the nails did not look good -- yet they still continued to defend the work and make excuse after excuse. It turned into an uncomfortable and unnecessary back-and-forth instead of the staff simply being professional and fixing their own mistake. There was absolutely no accountability, no urgency to make things right, and no real attempt to provide decent customer service. And don't be fooled by the "complimentary drinks" they advertise. The young girls working there offer you drinks, ask what you would like, and then never bring them out at all. It feels disorganized, careless, and completely unprofessional. This place is extremely unorganized and unprofessional. The staff are defensive, unwelcoming, and clearly not trained to handle even the simplest customer concern. There is absolutely no accountability, no customer service, and no pride in their work. Save your money, your time, and your patience. We asked if they had availability for nails and lashes, and they immediately said yes, twice, even after I clarified that we didn't have an appointment. They did my sister's nails first, and only after taking our money and time did they suddenly claim they had no availability for lashes and tried to push us to book another day. I originally left a positive review but decided to delete it after this incident. I had a gel pedicure here (unfortunately I don't remember the technician's name). During the cuticle cleaning, she left a deep cut on my big toe that left alot of bleeding. At first, I assumed it would stop on its own, which it did for a while. later at work I noticed the toe was still bleeding, swollen, numb, and beginning to ooze clear pus. Since I work in the emergency department, I had access to supplies to properly clean the wound and apply antibiotic ointment.
