Just got home from an early dinner with my sister. It was steak night, so I had that. It was delicious. I love this place, it is my favorite restaurant. The food is off the charts, the atmosphere is relaxed and the service is excellent. Downriver Grill is the total package and the prices are very reasonable. If you have not experienced this, you need to go. Now! My sister had a chicken and vegetable dish that she thoroughly enjoyed. For an appetizer we tried the Gorgonzola fries, amazing. Just got home from an early dinner here tonight and it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in Spokane. For a drink, I ordered a Late Harvest, which was quite good. My fiance ordered a cranberry mule with gin and had another later in the meal. For my main course, I had the cioppino. The meal looked great but was surprisingly not very good. I was only able to take 3 or 4 bites before I had to stop. My fiance ordered the chicken masala, which also looked fantastic, but was quite bland and disappointing. The service left a lot to be desired too. I never actually recieved a place setting at any point during the meal. Also, our server switched about 80% of the way through our meal and never bothered to introduce herself, which was quite confusing for us. Maybe Restaurant Week was throwing them off their game, but I will be avoiding Downriver Grill for the foreseeable future. read more

Used to love DRG, have been there many times, but the quality of the food seems to be declining. I always liked their salads, but now they aren't even close to as good as a cheap kit from the grocery store. Disrespectfully bad, actually. I've never been served a salad with fewer toppings/extras in it than my last few times here. They've been about 98% lettuce or spinach, depending which one you order. I've gone back three times since noticing this, because I had so many good experiences before, but it's not worth it anymore if you are looking for a good salad. Decided to try out restaurant week in Spokane. We tried the Braised Wild Boar Crustini, DRG Signature Salad, Pablo Rock Fish and Chicken Marsala, and finished with the Tiramisu and Creme Brûlée. Everything was phenomenal. Highlights go to both entrees potatoes and their sauces. Zero complaints here! I have had many many creme brulees. DRG wins the best in my book. Was there for lunch and had a ceasar salad and their gorgonzola fries. Loved both. The salad was huge and had lots of shaved parmesan. Very good. I love the fries and had been thinking about them before I got there. I had a half order, which was much too large for me but when shared with my friend, half and half, was just right. Another plus was I noticed a chef wearing a beard hair net. Thank you! Kinda grosses me out when a chef has more than just scruff & that hair is so close to my food. Wow! That's all I can say about this place. It impressed me from the time I walked in, to the time I walked out. I ordered the Chicken Marsala, as it was the top choice among my waiter. He did not disappoint. The flavor was amazing, and the presentation was spot on. I also ordered an old fashioned. It was just as impressive as the main dish. I can't rave enough on this place. Good food, good service, not exceptional but good, you always get a fair meal for the price.

This place let me down in multiple ways. Firstly we were told when we phoned there would be a 40 minute wait, okay that's fine we were added to the list, we arrived approx. 20 minutes ahead of time and went to the bar to have a drink. Ordered two mojitos and if I was at a club wanting to get wasted they would of been great seeing they were SEVERALY over poured, to the point I had to ask for more club soda, that's not a good thing, also $10 a drink, kind of pricy and not flavorful, but the bar tender appeared to be a waiter who just "made a drink" since everyone was running around. We await our turn to be seated and a party of three comes in, after the stated 40 minute mark has passed, they were sat before myself and my party, this was unacceptable and it was noticeable in my face that I was not please by this. The waitress was pleasant when we were seated and even comped out app and dessert for the wait so that was nice of them. My biggest issue however is that we were sat adjacent to a table of cackling, overloud and boisterous hens who would not shut up. I could tell you the entire conversation as I was able to hear literally everything. I shouldn't have to ask the wait staff to ask someone to quite down, for the prices you pay at this place, the atmosphere was unpleasant to say the least. I should not have to give up a night of dinner at my behest because others want to be loud. I believe that management should of said something to that table and instead the wait staff was taking pictures for them and indulging them in their annoying behavior. I'm rather put off by this and that stinks because the food was rather delicious. Due to this experience I do not believe I will be dining there again. read more

Great spot! I've had the burgers, the tri-tip sandwich, salads and of course the fries. The Gorgonzola fries are pretty dang tasty and a must try at least once! Overall the food has good flavor and quality produce and usually pretty quick to come out of the kitchen. For a nicer restaurants they do give you pretty good size portions as well. They have the all day happy hour on Wednesday's for burgers with a dollar off a beer or something. It's usually pretty busy but I always head the the bar area and get seated pretty quick. read more

There was only one thing I was unhappy about this place... that it took me so long to find out about it. Had "brunch" there today. Service - excellent. Food was just unreal. We sat around the table trying to figure out who got bites of who's food so we could all order something different but still try all the goodness. Had bananas Foster French toast... OMG. Also shared a half order of fresh made (I mean chunks of everything) corned beef hash. From benedicts to omelettes, everything was just spectacular. We looked at the dinner menu for about 2 minutes before my wife informed me we were coming back for dinner....very soon. It is hard for me to be impressed at a restaurant. Hats off to this place... I walked out with the feeling that I couldn't wait to come back and try more of the goodies. Very rare find. One suggestion - get some great coffee... not just good. The food deserves it. read more

My husband and I were given a gift card to use at one of the three affiliated restaurants we chose Downriver Grill. I looked them up online and was super excited about the menu and the reviews. I got my hopes up for the Apple and Chorizo Sausage Baked Mac and Cheese which was on their online menu, we got there and it wasn't on the menu at all. There was another similar Mac and Cheese option so I got that. I ordered it with the prawns, big mistake. That was a considerable waste of money, the prawns were overcooked to the point of squeaking when bit into, for an additional $4 I would liked to have seen at least four prawns, there were three. Also, I eat a lot of seafood and have had many prawns and jumbo shrimp in my life, I would be willing to bet the 4 "prawns" were actually jumbo shrimp (a lesser quality ingredient). The most disappointing part is that the dish itself cost $20 and I was still hungry when we left. My husband got the DRG Chipotle Burger, it was good with a lot of flavor. He added the egg and it was a good meal, but he also walked out of the restaurant hungry as well. I ordered the huckleberry mint lemonade and that was a saving grace of the meal! It was so good! I was disappointed in the fact that my glass sat empty for about half the time we were there, I wasn't drinking it fast that was how slow the service was. It was a Friday night so I understand that it was a little busy, but it did frustrate me that the wine glasses on the table beside ours never emptied. Had it not been for the gift card I would have left a much worse review because for the price we paid. I do not expect to go home and have to cook another meal for us. We do not eat huge meals, we don't expect a buffet but we do expect to question if we should take it home or finish the last 5 bites for a $50 meal. read more

My fiancé and I are from out of town and decided to stop and have dinner before heading home. I had the chicken Marsala and I must say, this chicken Marsala was hands down the best chicken Marsala I've ever had! The chicken was tender and juicy and the sherry sauce on top was to die for! My fiancé had the filet mignon and it literally melted in his mouth it was extremely tender! Seasoning was perfect and the balsamic reduction was delicious! Drinks have the perfect amount of alcohol. They did not lack alcohol that's for sure. Service was prompt, courteous and friendly. Indoor seating or outdoor seating available. Went for my birthday. Made reservations for outdoor seating and they spaced tables appropriately for Covid measures. The drinks were pretty good, not life-changing but interesting and suitable options for everyone. Service was attentive and thorough. The food was very good too for the most part. Some of the greens in my wife's salad were well on their way to decomposing (red leaf lettuce...no surprise there) and the mushrooms in my Gorgonzola sauced burger were a bit overwhelming. Venue: Good. I have been for dinner and brunch. The tables aren't so close together that you feel like you are eating in your neighbors lap. However dinner got a little loud when it was busy. Felt comfortable enough to bring my two year old to brunch...probably wouldn't take him to dinner with us. Service: Good. The brunch waiter was knowledgeable. For a party of 6 he only got two orders flipped at the table so not bad. The dinner waitress was also knowledgeable and pleasant. Food: Brunch was great and there was no wait!! I had the pork belly ciabatta and it was very tasty! The ciabatta was perfectly soft! Hubby had the California Benedict and he enjoyed it. Kiddo got the pancake. He's allergic to dairy so I asked for no whipped cream and it came out with it. I just scrapped it off. Kind of bummed the kids pancake was so huge and no protein or fruit option to go with it. Dinner was good. We went a few months ago and while it was good it wasn't memorable enough to remember what I had off the top of my head. Overall pretty great experiences both times. Gorganzola Cheese Fries!!! This is a nice little restaurant. The food selection was decent but the star of the show was the Gorgonzola fries. My Fiance and I have been here multiple times now. They also have some tasty deserts. The dining area isn't very large but it is cozy and the lighting is kind of subdued. I actually left my debit card here once but there was no issues at all. I have tried about 4 separate visits to like the food here today I had the wagu beef French dip sounds great right , slices of med rare beef on a bagette with a rich ah jus , when the sandwich arrived it looked good served on a Texas style toast the main ingredient the wagu was dry chewy and flavor less the au jus was not much better . I am very disappointed in how Downriver has gone down hill.... we always go here for family dinners as they have a great seating area for big groups. This time my father in law got food poisoning from cioppino. I ordered a quinoa salad, see pic below. It was a kale salad, without the veins removed and a half a teaspoon of quinoa ! It was horrible. Our waitress was lovely and did the best she could to repair the damage done but it was bad.... I hope they can get their act together as we really did enjoy their food. read more

One of the best experiences we have had in a long time here in Spokane. Our server Desaray was very knowledgeable, professional and kind. Upon entering, the ambiance was very calm and romantic. I had just got off work and my family and I wanted to head out for a nice family dinner. We were seated right away and had prompt service. We tried the gorgonzola fries which were very cheesy and delicious. My husband and I both agreed on the DRG BBQ burger. It was a very tasty burger. They make their own bbq sauce! I had mine with a fried egg. Everything tasted fresh and on point. At the end of the night we decided to try the apple spiced cheese cake( just flavored with spices, no actual apples, which is what I prefer). It was like heaven in your mouth. The caramel sauce tasted hand made as well. Food was very reasonably priced for all food on their menu.
