The chilaquiles were one of the best in the city in my opinion! The pancakes were a good portion for two to share and they weren't overly sweet which I enjoyed I will note they were a little tough to cut through. This place is amazing...came to have breakfast the churro waffle caught my eye so I decided to give it a try.It was amazing the churros are cut in half filled with cajeta DELICIOUS the sugar to flavor balance was perfect no over bearing sugar taste the strawberry additive was a nice touch of flavor. Came for brunch with some friends. I ordered the cinnamon roll french toast combo with eggs, bacon and potatoes. The BF ordered the chickenfajita sandwich. Our friends had the country fried steak, chorizo and eggs and birria tacos. Birria tacos were the star that afternoon. Far betrer than we expected. Everyone was decently happy with their food. Most horrible breakfast experience I've ever had. Family came to visit and we wanted to try a good breakfast spot so we come here. Lied about wait time, said 15 minutes, ended up waiting over an hour. The whole time waiting didn't get a refill or talked too once, once food came it was an even bigger disappointment. Bacon was not good at all, totally undercooked. Everybody's food came out at different times. Like a hour 30 for the first persons food, finally she brings out the hashbrowns and there freezing cold and I asked for cheese and onion on them and there wasn't them; she asked if I wanted them I said no cuz I was hungry wanted to eat and leave.Our waitress realizes how upset we are after bringing it up so she's apologizing and brings out a bowl of fruit, we are eating it and then FIND MOLD. Not on just one ethier multiple different ones. We complained and felt disgusting after eating there and then she says she gave us a 15% discount. Lol. And then offered coupons for next time. We got two Mexican breakfasts (the Machaca and Chile Verde) which we thought were stellar, especially the Chile Verde. They gave us homemade salsa with the Machaca, which really made the dish. We were seated immediately, and greeted with a friendly smile; however it took about 20-25 minutes to get our order taken. The servers did not return to check on our table for the rest of the meal, but when we did get their attention for a cup of ice they forgot. The servers seemed to be gathered at the checkout counter having a conversation. Overall a nice spot, just needs a little bit more attentiveness from staff. My daughters and I wanted breakfast. This place is famous for its pancakes. The main reason why I wanted to go. We ordered chilaquiles, biscuits and gravy, funnel cakes and I order short stack pancakes, hash browns and 2 sausage links. I never got my pancakes even though other customers were getting them. The 2 order of hash browns were cold and not brown, like raw. Plus I never got my milk. By this time my daughters were done eating and I still haven't gotten my pancakes. I was past frustrated! I had to find our server as I was too upset to stay. I didn't expect to be compensated but it would have been nice. Almost $100 just for the food. Amicable chap made us feel welcome immediately, and checked on us a few times during our visit to make sure all was good. LIGHT BREAKFAST: 2 Egg whites, 2 turkey bacon, Whole wheat toast, and fresh fruit... This "sounds" small but it actually was a good sized meal. Delicious food and friendly staff! I found the Downtown Cafe on Yelp and wanted to give it a try after seeing it was located in the same area as many other popular eateries. I ordered biscuits and gravy to go but came inside to pick up. The owner was very friendly and thankful for my visit. My biscuits and gravy were wonderful! They were served with easy scrambled eggs and home potatoes sautéed with onions. The biscuit was very fluffy and tasty and complimented by one of the best sausage gravies I've ever had...hint of spice and consistency was just right, not watery or too thick. The home potatoes were also delicious and a great side to the meal. Scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked as well as the side of breakfast sausage I had ordered. Will not be back. My buttermilk pancakes were more like crepes and no taste. The potatoes had seasoning on it and I could clearly see it but it strap taste like nothing was on it. Finally! A place that does endless mimosas and has good food! I frequent this place with my coworkers early in the morning. I love that you can order a side of strawberries by themselves.
