My family has been frequenting Dr Field Goods since it was at its past location. They have solid food and tons of seating at the new place, so there's almost never any wait. Some of the waiters are absolute stars and the service is usually pretty solid. My favorite dishes are the summer fruit salad and the achiote poblano chicken sandwich. read more

So apparently Dr Field Goods has bought Santa Fe Bar & Grill in the Paseo de Peralta mall. I'm a long time fan of Dr Field Goods Patatas Bravas and all their wood fired pizzas. Very disappointed that these signature dishes are gone. They kept a few things from Dr Field Goods but mostly mediocre pub food. Things come and go, but Santa Fe Bar and Grill stays the same. I had dinner last week with a couple of friends, and the tortilla soup was as good as ever. The calamari, meanwhile, could have used some marinara or cocktail sauce, but was still a delicious appetizer. Today I returned with my girlfriend for a special dinner together. She was characteristically indecisive, finally settling on the halibut special. I opted for an old off-menu secret item, the legendary tortilla burger, for which I often pine. Our waiter, Saxon, was on his game. He put in my order correctly, and it came out exactly as I hoped: smothered in green chile, with fries on one side and black beans on the other. I asked for a side of sour cream, then proceeded to eat the entire burger. Absolutely delicious. My girlfriend was likewise impressed with her halibut. Nicely done! Sometime I get nervous about the effects time can have on old favorites like this restaurant. I'm happy to know they can still put a smile on my face. read more

We chose this place for a work mixer. They were very accommodating when we asked to be moved to the patio as our party was too large for inside. The food was great! We only had appetizers and drinks. The bbq wings were spicy and so delicious! The service was impeccable and I was very impressed at how quickly they were serving everyone in our party. Locals all talking about how bad things have gotten. Nothing like the great food Bar and Grill had. You have to ask for salt and pepper. I wish I could have given this restaurant a better review, but overall, it was just ok. I will say that we really liked our server and that was perhaps the best part of the meal. We started with a house salad with their creamy blue cheese dressing. The salad was fresh with nice ingredients, and the dressing was excellent. However, we were only about halfway finished with the salad when our entrees arrived. I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes which was ok, but nothing special. The potatoes were served in a separate dish with no gravy, and the meatloaf only had a little of it spooned over the top. The dish could have used a green vegetable, but that was an extra $4.00. Overall, it was on the dry side. My wife had asked for the veggie quesadilla with chicken, which they accommodated. However, when we got the check we saw that they charged $20.00 for it. That is a total ripoff. The cocktails were ok. I had a house margarita which was too sweet; my wife had a Manhattan which she liked. We did not have dessert. The ambiance and decor is nice; they've done a good job with the lighting making a large restaurant feel on the cozy side. The bar is fairly big and looked comfortable. Would I go back? Yes, I think so, although I'm not in a big rush. We had been once before on a Friday night when they featured prime rib and fish & chips as dinner specials, and we liked it better then. That's what brought us back. I think if and when we go back, it will be on a Friday. read more

This is a casual restaurant that I've had a couple times for takeout and finally made it to dine in this past weekend. I sat on the patio for dinner and the ambiance was quite nice. The view of the parking lot is completely blocked by the adobe and there's lots of plants which make it very cute. I had the trout special. Really good margarita but I have to say the new owners really messed up this menu. There's nothing like a quality mall restaurant that serves fresh meatloaf to old people at noon on a Tuesday. I used to come here all of the time for lunch. The new owners have raised the prices while the food quality has dropped a little. For example the burger has more bread and less meat. I find burgers at The Compound , La Fondas, and Rio Chama provide better quality at similar prices. I hope things get back into a groove. I'm impressed. I've started coming here more often after hearing about the new ownership with good reputation. Plus a water leak has me kicked out of my house until further notice, so eating out daily. I've mostly sat at the bar because I'm eating very late lunches/early dinners. That they are even open from 3-5 when most Santa Fe restaurants aren't, is a big plus. As for the food, as bar and grill food it's very, very good. And even at 3 in the afternoon, when you know the chef isn't there, they hit the right temp on a burger every time. That's not as common around here as you might think. Very flavorful burger with no enhancements like bacon or cheese, and that's uncommon too and is a guarantee of excellent meat befitting a butcher/owner. But definitely add the green chilies! Also can recommend the Cubano, not traditional (nor claimed to be) but very tasty (sub out mustard for mayo imo). So why only three stars? Because the bartender is a dick. I'm told he's been there 12 years so obviously came with the place. Surly, arrogant, and all-around unpleasant dude who should get out of the service industry. Today I made sure to eat on the patio so I didn't have to face his smugness. And I have to add other servers I've had aren't especially welcoming either but nothing like his royal smugness. After ordering the grilled shrimp salad, I don't think I'll be back. They put it on a too small plate, forgot the mangos, didn't bother to cut up the tomatoes--which are too big to eat--and the shrimp was not that tasty. Basically, you're paying about $18 for some simple lettuce and six pieces of so-so shrimp. It's pretty loud and not easy to hear what some of the staff were saying especially since several of them still wear masks. My wife ordered soup and salad but the waiter forgot about her soup until we were ready to leave. She was fine with not having the soup as long as we weren't paying for it but the waiter gave it to her in a to go bag as he brought us the bill. LOL. No apologies for that. Our food took over a half hour to receive. The waiter blamed it on my sandwich which he told me he was waiting for to be prepared. What's sad is that it occurred in a restaurant we have been frequenting almost weekly for several years. The new owner changed a few items on the menu. When my husband ordered one of these, he specifically instructed the server what he did and didn't want. She said that was fine. When the entrees arrived, his was what he said he didn't want. We were polite about it while letting the server, and the manager she summoned know it wasn't okay. She said today was her first day, although I'm pretty sure I saw her there last week. Our normal bill there is usually about $32. Today it was $45, and my husband ate about 3 bites of his. Yay! We are staying at a creepy hotel around the corner at The Lodge at Santa Fe. We came here by accident and who would of thought! First of all, we just got in town it's 38 degrees..::but for us, it's cold so we are bundled up like we are about to get frost bite! Brrrrr. So yes we look like tourists! We saw our server maybe twice to take our order and when he quickly grabbed our appetizer plate and didn't check on us when we were all clearly out of water.
