The waiter was a bit rushed. he would ask what we would like and before we could get all of the words out of our mouths he would be walking away. We finally said wait! We are not finished! He did apologize and stopped and listened to be sure he got everything we wanted. I had the soup and salad. Soup was a cream of mushroom. Very flavorful but rather thin. Would have liked it a bit creamier. My salad had the most delicious blue cheese vinaigrette on it. They advertise red Chile croutons which scared off my friend as she does not like spicy food. There were croutons on my salad and I gave her one to taste. They are not spicy. But they are flavorful. She enjoyed her Caesar salad and said the dressing tasted homemade. She did ask for some croutons and they brought some. I would try the restaurant again as their menu looks very interesting. read more

Won't be back. Slow service. BAD communication from server. I waited a very long time for a beer (water never came), was told after waiting, that the keg needed to be changed. I ordered a different beer and got the wrong beer. I again waited for another beer. By this time the meal was almost over. Speaking of the meal, my sandwich was inedible with raw uncooked bacon the most oily pesto I've ever had with one tiny slab of turkey. I wouldn't even give the other half of my sandwich to a homeless person. read more

If I could give a zero star I would because our meal was just awful. Our lobster in the lobster taco was underdone and our service was even worse. We saw our server maybe twice to take our order and when he quickly grabbed our appetizer plate and didn't check on us when we were all clearly out of water. I am not sure if this restaurant has gone downhill or if my expectations have risen. We used to eat here whenever we visited Santa Fe on short trips over the years, with the Tortilla Soup being a favorite for both my husband and me. Now that we spend more time in Santa Fe, we have found that meals here over the last year have not been up to snuff, or not as good as I had remembered. My chief complaint is that the chicken pieces are not cut into edible size and I have mentioned this to the wait staff before. The Tortilla Soup is still delicious, but I cannot eat a piece of chicken that is 2" long by 1" thick with a spoon. PLEASE, shred the chicken, like it used to be. The same goes for the enchilada - very large pieces of chicken - again PLEASE shred the chicken. I DO appreciate it that it was all white meat, but the tortillas were quite tough and I could only eat half of it. When you arrive you are usually greeted promptly and seated. But why do you get one type of menu for each person and only one of the other menu? Why? Drinks are always well done: perfect cosmopolitans and a nice wine selection. Servers are always pleasant, efficient, and attentive without hovering. Decor is warm and friendly, and seating is nicely arranged with a few booths. We were really disappointed in the changes at this restaurant. The prices are high, the menu less extensive, and the food was nothing special. The presentation was downright unappetizing; I ordered the rotisserie chicken and an grayish half-chicken was dumped on the plate with a small bowl of coleslaw. No garnish, nothing. They used to serve their chicken with a vegetable, rice, and potatoes for around half the price. Now it's expensive, unattractive, and not particularly tasty. After eating there for the past 15 years, we won't be back. The service was fine, but everything else was blah. The new decor is nice enough, but it's totally generic and we might as well have been in Cleveland or somewhere. read more

Last time I came ai had this succulent chicken breast with mole negro. Tonight I was hoping for more of he same. I got a garden salad that was yummy with a lime vinaigrette. Then I got a charred chicken mole verde. The sauce was good and helped cover up the very dry chicken. It came with steamed broccoli and roasted potatoes. Having a place nearby we stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon, opting to eat closer to home rather than drive around looking for a place to park downtown. My dining companion had their burger, adding green chile and Swiss cheese. I ordered the Cubano sandwich. We both had fries as the side. The burger was cooked perfectly to medium rare. I've been here a handful of times and yesterday was the worst customer service I have ever encountered. my colleague and i ordered the New York steak, medium rare and when we got it, although a little pink in the middle, it tasted like it was well done- super tough and grainy. I couldn't even swallow it and spit it into my napkin. My colleague didn't like it either. I really am not one to complain but figured I say something since we could not eat it at all. The OWNER came across uncaring and didn't offer to correct the complaint and asked if I wanted to "buy" another steak.. which to me made me feel like I was a liar. We visited Santa Fe Bar & Grill this past Monday, looking to get our red sauce fix. The outdoor seating was nice and warm in the sun, and that's where it got interesting. Shortly after we were seated, a single gentleman was sat at the table next to us. Plenty of space apart, no concerns at this point. After 10 minutes, the host came back out and asked the gentleman if he was expecting more and when he said no, asked him to move to a smaller table. Despite having asked for a seat in the sun and no other tables having so much as a ray of sun on them, the man obliged. What happened next was truly shocking... They didn't wipe down the table nor was ANY type of sanitizing performed before they seated a family of 3 right where the man had been seated with his mask off. That family only stayed at that table for a few minutes before they began complaining about the sun and moved themselves to another table. Can you guess what happened next? Once again, no cleaning was performed on this table which has now sat 4 people from 2 different families with their masks off. The food was decent but to say I was distracted by the appalling lack of sanitation given the current pandemic is an understatement. Perhaps once after this is all over we may return, or make sure you're the very first table of the day because your table will be covered in whatever the person before you left behind! read more

"New Mexican Plates" (tacos, enchiladas and chile poblano) No burritos. "Soups and Salads", "Sandwiches" and "Desserts". There you go. No burritos. ¡Ay, caramba! So I ordered the Grilled Fish Tacos - Fresh NW salmon served on 3 fresh Alicia's soft corn tortillas, topped with an apple-jicama citrus mayonnaise coleslaw. Hubby had the Grilled Mexican Steak Tacos, marinated sirloin steak served on Alicia's soft corn tortillas, and garnished with shredded lettuce & tomato. Served with a fire-roasted salsa & guacamole. We went to this restaurant in a strip mall at the suggestion of our friends. I have to say the decor is excellent. The service was fine. And we loved the food. My friends said the spaghetti Bolognese was outstanding. I had the vegetarian tacos and I loved them. They serve a very good vege burger with nice, ripe Vocadas well as juicy beef burgers for the carnivore set. Cobb salads and Caesar salads are plentiful and fresh. The pasta specials are always terrific and vary by season. The various fish dishes have never disappointed.The large jalapeño stuffed peppers are delicious and HOT, so watch out. Clean restrooms with handicap access are a available. There is a full bar that seats 15 and sports 2 TVs for those inclined to watch sporting events while chomping on a steak and downing a beer. Desserts are great, so save room. The housemade adobe mud pie is stellar, as are the cheesecakes (made New York style). The chocolate espresso brownie is a favorite. You can even choose to have a hot fudge or cajeta-piñon sundae. The decor is Southwestern and attractively presented with shades of the Santa Fe sunset. Seating is comfortable, offering a choice of tables, booths or banquettes. There is a small dining area off the main room used for private parties. Very conveniently located at De Vargas on Paseo de Peralta near St. Francis, situated front and center just opposite the parking lot, with multple entrances (and even a mailbox just outside 100 feet to the right facing from the parking lot). Host/hostess seating. New Mexican dishes are great. Some personal favorites include fish tacos, trout salad, meat loaf and potatoes, shrimp and avocado salad, enchiladas. Soups are quite good. Mixed drinks are generous and tasty; bar team is great. Watch out for the peanut butter ice cream pie; it can be addictive. Pleasant and reliable; open breakfast, lunch and dinner; continue to take food orders up to 9:30 or 9:45 and don't rush you out if you're still lingering a little at 10 pm. I had planned to have our regular Sunday brunch with my mom at the Santa Fe Bar and Grill but that was quickly cancelled when the Owner accused my elderly mother of having not left a tip the prior week. This was a completely false claim, not to mention humiliating for my mother. My mother did leave a tip of nearly 20%, (although leaving a fatal note on the receipt for why she didn't give the full 20% ... "burnt side tortilla was inedible"). Despite my mother's proof of innocence via online credit card statement, the owner asked us to leave. When the owner was called upon to prove his claim on an on line review, he admitted he was "misinformed by management" but neglected to apologize to my mother. Instead, he again made false claims about her dissatisfaction at his restaurant, stating she had sent back food in the past. Neither she nor I have ever sent back our meals. I think in this time of Covid, most of us are just happy to have some place to go despite the quality of the food. But when it comes to the treatment of the customer, both my mother and I were very upset. Neither she nor I, in our collective 122 years, have ever been asked to leave a restaurant. read more

Noah the bartender ignored us, we had to ask for more to drink, when I did he was arrogant and the only time he approached us was when his shift was over and he wanted to cash out (and get his tip). It is located in a strip mall (Office Depot next door) but don't let that make you think that it is anything less than equal to a classy restaurant elsewhere. The menu (Mexican with non-Mexican flair) hosts many great choices. I got the chicken enchiladas and it was enough for two. The flan was awesome. Service was excellent, and (this is the fooler) there is a lovely patio with live guitar and fountain as well as a large indoor seating area. I was here for lunch today with my baby and my family. As we were about to sit down at our table a man approached my stroller and stuck his head in and got really close to my child. He then asks if there's anything else that he can do for us. To which I reply Yeah don't do that again. He reels back a bit from what I thought was a totally appropriate comment. He then grabs my arm and squeezes and says that he is the owner of the place. I say well that's great and to not touch me. He squeezes again and says that he will have me removed from the restaurant. I tell him that he has no right to touch me. To which he again responded by saying that he will make me leave. He walks off somewhere. I then grab my car keys and stroller and leave the restaurant. My entire family soon follows out if the place. I would not recommend this place even if every other place on Earth had burned down.
