This place is the talk of the town with recommendations coming from uber drivers left and right. Delicious, fresh ingredients so good for that casual hang be it lunch or dinner. I have taken my parents, friends, out-of-state visitors and everybody LOVED it. In a single visit, everyone has asked me to bring them back for more. My go-to dishes are "Ceviche", "Chaufas - fried rice", "Pescado a lo Macho - fish fillet with seafood sauce", "Tostones de Cangrejo - fried plantain and crab salad". Last week I tried this restaurant for the first time. I am not giving a 5 start because it is too small for my taste but a 4 because the food and the service were excellent. We tried the Causas sampler and it was delicious, we also tried the sushi and the Mojito and everything was exquisite. One of my favorite spots in Miami! The ceviche is amazing and salads are refreshing. If you like tostones, you have to try the tostones with crab. The manager and staff are so attentive. The manager came over to ask if we were still waiting on our food. It actually had not been long since we ordered, but soon thereafter, he personally brought out our meals. The atmosphere is always vibing on a salsa playlist. I'm giving them a 4 star because we did not receive roasted corn on our recent visit. First time at this location. I had already been to the Kendall location a few tomes before and I love it, so I figured I'd try this one, since it's closer to home. The place is small but nice. And just like the Kendall location, this one is busy too, so be prepared to wait a bit. My gf and I had the ceviche w/ fried seafood, a shrimp chowder, passion fruit piscojito, purple corn piña colada, and lucuma ice cream w/ chocolate cake. Everything we had was very good; I can't even say what I liked best. The service was really nice as well. I only wish that the menu here was as varied as the one in Kendall, cause right now it is a bit limited here. Still, I look forward to coming ming back and see new dishes available. read more

Excellent food, amazing service. I would definitely recommend the psiquiatra and fried ceviche, which were both flavorful, fresh, and delicious. The only thing that would have made it better, is if they served the ceviche with tortilla chips like they do in other ceviche bars. The crunch would be a nice complement to the soft texture of the fish. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience and I'll definitely be back. read more

The first time I tried Dr. Limon I got take out and it was to my surprise one of the best ceviches I had ever tried. Tonight I dined in with my husband and it was also delicious. I had ceviche again and he tried the lomo saltado. The restaurant is in an unassuming strip mall but don't let that fool you. The staff is very attentive, the presentation is wonderful, the food is fresh...this is one of those few restaurants where the results of good management are crystal clear. Keep up the great work! I've been to Dr. Limon multiple times over the past 3 years, and the experience has been superb. I typically get the lomo saltado, pescado a lo macho, and of course, the ceviche. The unique culture of Peru is encapsulated in these entrees and appetizer, show casing the multiple cultures found in their cuisine. This makes for a more complex variety of flavors. As an example, the lomo saltado is a beef, sauteed dish with primarily a soy sauce base along with a pepper native to Peru. It's savory, salty with multiple textures found not just in the beef but also the fries and rice. The rice itself has a hint of garlic and is slightly seasoned. The salty and savory flavors are balanced by the slight acidity from the red onions and tomatoes. I must also note that Dr Limon's lager is exceptionally well balanced and refreshing. It is a wonderful pair to any of these seafood dishes or chicken based dishes; it works well as a palate cleanser to experience all those wonderful dishes flavors. Finally, our server Jana was wonderful to us tonight, making an extra effort to make sure our orders were complete and to our liking. Lomo Saltado was perfect, I ordered the green noodles and skirt steak as well. The steak was way undercooked the pasta was absolutely horrible the preparation of the sauce was poorly. Customer service is awful in this place! First and last time I go. We drove by and were excited about trying some Ceviche. Decided to stop by to order to go, so they told us to go to the back, and we asked for menus. While we were deciding what to order (because we had to read the descriptions as the names of the dishes are very original and don't necessarily describe the plate) the girl kept rushing us. As soon as we finished ordering, she rudely said "you need to go outside and wait". We were not planning on waiting there for the 20 min. Upon returning to pick up the order, the hostess said "wait here for your food". When she came back with the food, I asked her if we could get utensils. She went to get them and when she left, I noticed there were utensils already there. When she returned, I told her that I noticed we already had utensils and her answer was a rude "Whatever!". This place has NO customer service and I will never come here again. I ordered take out today and I specifically asked if their arroz con pollo was spicy because I know their chef has a heavy hand when it comes to using spices and sauces in their food. I was told no it was not spicy so I order for pick up. When I get home I take a bite and it is spicy. Arroz con Pollo should never be spicy but there is black pepper everywhere making it inedible. I call and nicely ask for them to exchange it out and this time deliver it to me as I did not want to make a second drive there for their mistake. First the girl that took the order argues with me saying it is not spicy and then passes me to their manager that does not apologize but reluctantly agrees to exchange it out. I hang up and wait for my delivery and by now I am starving. I get a call 30 minutes later from same girl to notify me there is a $5 delivery fee. No one mentioned this to me when I originally asked them to deliver it and how petty is it to call a customer that you made a mistake with to ask them to pay $5. Even if they use a courier service they should have taken the hit on the $5 and delivered the food as promised. Customer service 101 is that you make it right when you have wronged a customer. BTW- Chicken Fried rice is so salty it's gross so do not order it! Now they have lost an entire household of customers b/c of their pettiness over $5 and their mishandling of a situation that could have easily been fixed. Management and staff at Dr. Limon need retraining on customer service! read more

They all have new specialities and they also have the all time favorites, no matter what you choose you will never go wrong. My first issue was when I placed my ordered over the phone, the waitress did not recognize a plate I was trying to order. After repeated the same dish and the waitress not understanding me I got frustrated, she put on another waitress which understood what I was ordering. I got to the restaurant (small but quaint) I was greeted and was promptly given my order. The waitresses showed me my order (which I always appreciate). Eating the food was a disappointment. Was introduced to this establishment by my girlfriend and her mom. Decided to try on a Sunday evening. The place was packed and I could tell everyone was enjoying the food. We began our foodie adventure with the lobster tostones. Which was an excellent idea as these things were phenomenal. The flavor was perfect and not fake seafood and the tostones were crunchy. All the while we were munching on Cancha. Our waiter must've brought out at least three bowls. For the main course my lovely date and I decided we would split the Four Ceviche Cuarentena. My favorite being the orange and the original. It was absolutely perfect as it fulfilled what each of us was looking for as far as flavors. She preferred the original and the yellow sauce. All washed down with a Lychee martini. The wait staff was very helpful and answered all questions and kept our glasses full and always came around to see how our meal was. 5 stars for the food. I docked a star because the shopping strip it's located in is not fabulous as a place like this deserves. I've tried the sampler both times I've been and everything on that sampler is delicious. I especially enjoyed the octopus and the fried ceviche. I also tried the arroz con pollo. If you're a cilantro fan, give that a try. Their signature cocktail with passion fruit is also worth trying. The service is good. The inside kind of reminds me of Ceviche 105 with it's modern style. My mother is Peruvian and a finicky eater. She was always eager to try any Peruvian restaurant that was recommended to her, but time after time, they would disappoint. Peruvian food is very tasty, but can be time-consuming in its preparation, so it's nice to sometimes be able to go somewhere and have someone cook for you and serve you, rather than spending hours in the kitchen, she reasoned. When my father's health was failing, we became somewhat close to one of his nurses, and she told us about Dr. Limon. She insisted the food was good, and pushed mom to give them a try, so almost a year later, my mother, sister, and my sister's boyfriend headed over to the Kendall location for dinner one night. Mom actually had some positive feedback (for once) and since the place was mom-approved, she suggested I try it too. We were near downtown Miami and it was lunch time, so it made more sense to head over to this location instead, we figured it would be just as good. It is located in a shopping plaza near FIU, cramped between other establishments (she quickly pointed out the Kendall location is larger). The place was full, which is a good sign. A waiter led us to a white table with a big, green lemon just sitting there in the middle of the table, I kid you not, and no, it wasn't a plastic lemon, it was real. I looked at my mother in confusion and she laughed, saying they did this in the Kendall location too, and it's part of their quirkiness. Okay, uniqueness is good -- trust me, I should know. Nearby, a young man at the bar had a smoking, bubbling cocktail that looked intriguing, and then the waiter came wearing something that reminded me of a medical institution's employee. One look at the menu, and I felt I had entered a food hospital. Yes, all the dishes are named after maladies and cures. I guess the point is that Peruvian food is meant to be comfort food and will cure any ailment. Well, doctor, get to work! Since I was going out to dinner that night, I did not want to eat too heavily, so I let mom choose a small assortment of things we could try that would not be too filling. The ceviche is a Peruvian staple and not just that, but it is very light and refreshing for a hot summer day. My mom opted for the Fiebre Amarilla, which has yellow chilis, a hot pepper from Peru. We asked for it very spicy but it was actually mild, so that was a bit of a disappointment, but it was otherwise delicious and the fish was fresh. There was a decent amount of fish chunks in it too. Next up was the causa rellena, which is essentially a layered potato dish with mashed potatoes, and a filling of your choice. We ordered the tuna filling. The orange sauce that they drip over it has a strong flavor of lemon and so good that I kept scooping it up even when nothing was on my plate. It was plate-licking good! I was actually surprised by the fact I was full even though these were such light dishes. Everything was fresh and tasty. We topped our meal off with the Lucuma ice cream, something I had never tried in my life. Considering this is a subtropical fruit that only grows in Andean valleys, it's not all that surprising that I have never tried it here. The flavor is somewhat similar to dulce de leche, but not as sweet, and with a different texture. It's definitely worth trying. So why the 3 star rating, you may ask? Because service was incredibly slow. Mom said service in Kendall was speedy, but here, it took us 2 hours to get out of the restaurant, and the dessert alone took about half an hour to be brought to the table. We were hungry and when you are starving, the last thing you want to do is wait endlessly on a growling stomach. If they are able to speed up their service and listen more to their customers (when we say we want something spicy, make it spicy, or at least bring chunks of chilis on a plate so we can make it as spicy as we like without having to wait another half hour and bother you), they will easily weed out a lot of the competition and be a 4-4.5 star establishment. read more

This restaurant has updated its menu and condensed it to a page back and front, making it fairly easy to decide which delicious plate to choose. You cannot go wrong with any of their ceviche choices (although original recipe is the best for me). And what was surprising most of all was how refreshing their pressed juices were! My dinner buddy had to order two of them because he couldn't get enough! The Peruvian food has great flavor and sticks to the authentic recipe. The lomo saltado has really great charred meat with french fries. The aji de gallina has the great combination of cream, cheese, pepper poured over chicken (highly recommend!) Loving Dr. Limon! Came here for a lunch with coworkers. I was impressed at how lovely and modern this little place is. We were quickly served the roasted corn bites, which were so good and fun to munch on! I ordered the lomo saltado and also had chicken chaufa. The lomo saltado was soo delicious, except I wish it had been served a bit warmer. I absolutely loved it though. The chaufa was also pretty darn good! My main issue was the service. Although friendly, they seemed to struggle when the restaurant got busy. I could sense the staff getting more and more flustered as the tables filled. They ended up accidentally two charging my friends four times each, and then told them that their cards wouldn't. Luckily they checked their bank accounts right then and noticed that they were charged multiple times. After much frustration and confusion, the issue was resolved. It was painful though. Came in here since it's closer to my house than the one on Kendall, we waited 45 minutes to get in because it was busy. As soon as we got in the waitress took care of us right away the food was great, the ceviche was amazing like always, the Floridian beer is really smooth and I had the special of the day which was red snapper with some coconut dressing.
