    Great times at Pat's Kosher!!
    Seth B.

Pat's really is a place to enjoy a great occasion. I went with two friends the other day, and we really enjoyed it. Given the pandemic, we were seated outdoors in a converted parking lot, which they did more than I could ever imagine with it. There was still a great ambiance between the trees, lighting, and appropriate distancing. But, there's also the food!! Out of this world: I had the whole Branzino, egg rolls, and the lemon dessert (i forget the official dessert; next time i will write the review right after i eat there.) Everything was outstanding. The waiter we had was brilliant at how he interacted with us: he knew how often to approach the table, the suggestions he made were on point, he had a great sense of humor. This always adds to the experience (in addition to the dining companions!). A great experience, which I wholeheartedly recommend.

This is my go-to for high end in the area. Classy, clean, and good food. Service is acceptable, good sometimes, okay sometimes. But the outdoor atmosphere is much much better than the indoor restaurant that felt cluttered and tight. I'll be back soon for sure!

It's tough to have steak with my Jewish friends, as Kosher restrictions makes finding a steak very very difficult. But alas, enter into Pats, and Pats got your back. First impression: clean restaurant, friendly waiters, families eating together. To my East Coast crowd it's feels like Friendly's with nicer food and a bar. Food: Good! Steaks weren't drenched in truffle butter or anything but after eating my ribeye I felt good! The food you're eating makes you feel very clean, on contrast to eating a ribeye at a regular steak house and having a STEMI on the way out. Bread pudding is a must, order it immediately since it takes ~45 mins and get it with a cup of coffee. I'm a little sour about the drinks I received though: I ordered a Manhattan and they got away with serving me whiskey with some seltzer.

Pat's is my FAVORITE Kosher restaurant in LA! If you haven't been, you should definitely check it out. The vibe is cool, the food is consistently tasty and the bread pudding is a sweet ending +plus they have a great wine selection! Hope you enjoy your experience at Pats.

I may have reviewed Pats Restaurant some years back. The first time I experienced Pats was for my Wedding Reception in June 1993. I loved the food then and 26 years later it is still incredible. The service is always amazing and the food is to die for. When you first arrive order the bread pudding. They make it fresh and it takes over 30 minutes to make. I ordered the candied Pastrami. Melts in your mouth. The Ribeye is cooked to perfection- medium rare. You can cut it with a feather it was so tender. Pat and Errol Fine are the owners and are incredible people. If you are to try to go here, make a reservation since they are always fully booked. My mouth is watering thinking about my next visit, whenever that maybe.

Black cod with a cooked tomato, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The cod was excellent.

I started with the walnut avocado kale salad. It was very tasty. I asked for the dressing on the side but they forgot but luckily out the perfect amount of dressing. The bread was warm and the pesto butter and olive tapenade was very good. I also recommend the fresh mint hot tea. I ordered the special which was the black cod. The sauce and fish were excellent! The mashed potatoes were not very good but tasted better when I put the pesto butter on it. The chocolate soufflé was a big hit.

    Special - ribeye

Not so good. Had a hamburger and others had salad and for the price don't bother. Not sure what the issue was. The service is great.

We started with the San Diego Bluefin Tuna Tartare, which had an incredible burst of flavors. Then we had the Moroccan bread, which was fresh, warm, and delicious. Next came the Japanese sweet potatoes, and they were so good I honestly couldn't stop eating them. We also had the Red Snapper Schnitzel, which was probably one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. We finished with the Hanger Steak Kebab, which was really good as well. Overall, we had a great experience. Carmel is definitely becoming a new favorite spot for my wife and me, and we'll absolutely be back. Next time, we're definitely trying the kosher steak! Highly recommend making a reservation, especially on the weekends because it gets very busy. Amazing food, great vibes, and definitely a place we'll be coming back to!

Food: 3.5 stars Ambiance: 3.5 stars…read more Service: 1.5 stars I have now been to this place twice. I was excited to share the experience with my friends, as I recalled it being good when it first opened; so it was definitely repeatable. However this second trip was -- insulting. It looked like a place run by kids in their 20s, with no customer service experience, and unregulated emotions. So let's start with the main star-- the food! With a number of options, it was hard to narrow down what we wanted. But finally, we made our choices between the small plates, shareables, and mains. To our disappointment, they were out of the branzino- fine. We understand. We replanned what we wanted (you have to put your whole order in at one time). Then we decided to get a number of additional small plates-- and wanted wings. Guess what? Womp womp-- after our server informed us the Branzino was out, she moved on to attend other tables. During that time, they ran out of the wings. No problem! We decided to just get the chicken. The Blue Fin Carpaccio The Octopus The Grandmas Cigars The Crispy Tuna 2 orders of the Chicken Jidori 4 glasses of wine for the table This is everything we went with. The wine was excellent. The Blue Fin Carpaccio with Challah - Good, but the Challah was not grilled, instead burnt The Octopus - some of the best I've had, exceptional The Grandma Cigars- underwhelming The Crispy Tuna - salty & nothing outstanding The Chicken Jidori - very good Now here's the problem. When we asked the server to if we could get another challah, she was annoyed. She then brought out another piece, this time much smaller, less fluffy, and entirely dry, and said-- "it wasn't burnt, they grill it". Then I started to explain, well the last one, the taste was burnt and the edges-- but before I could finish, she said, "I'm gonna walk away now". To our shock, she left mid-sentence. This could've been a kitchen issue and not her issue-- but with the way she handled the service, it was absolutely insulting. I asked for the manager, who simply changed our server. Made no additional amends (but she did fix our wobbly table). There was no concession, or enjoy xyz on the house, or remorse. I suspect if she was a friend of the servers that was a host, and not the manager. As she didn't handle the situation like an established and competent manager. In the end, it may have been an off night for the kitchen and the staff-- perhaps the manager went to enjoy the World Cup watch parties and left the restaurant in hands that just couldn't match the demands of the evening. It was a Sunday night, and the vibe was on, with a filled restaurant. I enjoy the space, but I can't say I'd be delighted to experience what I had, not from a food or wine standpoint, but pure service. After $400- I expect better service. I get treated better at Sweetgreens, and that only costs me $25.

The Caesar arrived within minutes--slightly warm, which was odd. The pizza came out in a reasonable timeframe and was excellent: well-executed Roman-style crust and toppings, exactly as remembered. The pasta, however, was a different story. It took over 45 minutes to reach the table and arrived undercooked, with a visible white uncooked ring when cut in half. After clarifying the issue, it was sent back and a fresh plate arrived about 15 minutes later. By then it was time to leave. The children's pasta ($26) was not comped. Solid pizza and atmosphere, but the service timing and the undercooked pasta (plus the lack of any adjustment on a $26 kids' dish) left a sour note on an otherwise nostalgic visit.

I visited with my mother and my toddler son. Since my son wasn't going to eat fried food, I bought him a fruit smoothie from a neighboring business. While we were already in line paying for our order, the owner or manager approached us and informed us that outside food and drinks were not allowed because the restaurant is kosher. Although he said he would make an exception this one time, he approached us again while we were waiting outside for our food. We had chosen to sit outside because the restaurant was crowded, loud, and stuffy inside. Despite us not causing any issues, he again insisted that the smoothie could not be on the premises and began explaining that his license could be suspended due to association rules. We politely told him it wasn't a problem and decided to take our food to go. I understand businesses have policies, but the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily confrontational, especially considering the drink was for a toddler and we had already spent nearly $70 at the restaurant. Between the mediocre food, high prices, and rude customer service, I would not return. There are plenty of better dining options in the area.
