Coming from a stereotypical woman who knows nothing about cars, it meant a great deal to have an honest mechanic who didn't hesitate to thoroughly explain what I needed done and took time to explain the "why" and "how". I learned a lot and I appreciate the timeliness of the exceptional work done on my car. They even have loaner cars if you need to get around while your car is being serviced. I have never been more excited and pleased with my experience at a mechanic's shop. I had my engine rebuilt about a year and a half ago at AutoEngineRebuildingPros in Pomona and then took my car to P&Js in Whittier for a professional carb/timing adjustment. My car hadn't been running for years at that point so just to have it run from point A to point B was wonderful. I thought they did a decent job, even though I know for a fact that RebuildingPros totally scammed me on parts. $100 for a $30 part, $20 for an $8 part, etc., but I was happy to have my car up and running. Those "professionals" have got nothing on Dr. Smith! I recently did a tune-up on my ride and things just weren't working out properly for me so I decided to take it to a professional. Robert and the guys were so helpful, knowledgeable, and downright awesome fellas. He could have easily charged me for this and that, his time (what should have taken 15 minutes ended up taking over two hours), but he didn't. He charged me only for what he quoted me originally. Not only that, the time he took was not to take advantage, but to actually really figure out what my problems were and even took the time to show me and teach me. That right there, the willingness to teach, is what I truly love. Most places won't even let you into the work area. Not only was I in the work area, I was actually getting my hands dirty assisting in the work process. I was able to see for myself what he did and how he did it. I thought I had a sweet ride before going to the Doctor. Now, my car is super sweet! It's running better than it ever has. Now I have power off the line, speed, and a really mellow idle (I am not used to having any of those). Now my car will get, as Robert says, the "RESPECT" it deserves. I do not doubt it. I'm just really, really happy that I took a chance on Dr. Smith. I will not be going anywhere else. I told all this to my roommate who had been helping me, he couldn't figure out my problems either, but after seeing my face and hearing my story and hearing my car run, he says he's going to take his ride to see the Doctor as well. I have always been nervous taking my car to a mechanic for repairs, until now. Dr. Smith has the best service, prices and professionalism any car owner could ever want from a mechanic. He takes the time to explain the options available for repairs, and goes out of his way to show you the actual problem on the car, even saving the physical parts to show his customer what went wrong on the car- WITHOUT being asked to! I will be a customer for life, I don't care if i move away and have to drive 2 hours with no AC in California summer traffic, this is my mechanic. The name got me fooled forsure. The first time I went to this shop, later in the day I brought in my 1981 Chevy El Camino to have the carburetor adjusted and timed correctly. And let me say this is my first and last time dealing with "Dr. Smith" because not only does he come off unprofessional with cussing and telling me that my whole engine set up is incorrect. Instead of informing me that he wouldn't be able to do it, he went on and did it anyway. And so after he said it was so called "done". now my idle is really inconsistent. And when I drive it, it now hesitates a lot, when I turn the car off and take my keys out the engine still runs for about 4 seconds, a lot harder to start and sometimes turns off when it's in drive! Might I add it never had that problem before I brought it here... so if you have a carburetor engine DO NOT take it here especially if they can't do a simple adjustment. These guy's are absolutely the best for the job and i would recommend them to anyone A+ Great customer service very friendly and had an answer to any question I had. They have dealer quality work for a great price. They took me through the process of having my vehical worked on and made me feel very confident and comfortable with there work. Going through these guys to get my car fixed was definitely done with 5 star service and quality. I came from out of town to purchase a car. While driving it home up a hill it started to over heat. So I called the guy I baught it from and he recomended these guy's for the job. I took it to them and within 20 minutes they knew exactly what was wrong with it. They not only got a 5 day job done in 3 days so I could make it back home on time, They stayed late to make sure the job was done the right way and that I was back on the road. They were awesome!!
