My only complaint is about what you get for the money. I ordered a maple bacon slice. The slice was acceptable in quality, but they charge you $5.88. Last I checked, a slice was about 3 to 4 bucks, not six bucks for a few toppings. I have no quarrel with the service, location, food, ambience, etc. (except for the ridiculous picture of Patrick Swayze on the wall, but whatever). ALL restaurants in Davis are overpriced and underwhelming - we get that - but to charge almost 6 bucks for a slice that is half the size of a Sal's slice is a travesty. No thanks. read more

Was feeling hungry on my walk home, so I popped in for a quick bite to go. $5 for a slice that was quick, hot, large, and real tasty? I don't get pizza cravings often, but next time I do I'll be back. Yesterday, I went to the Fringe Theater festival at Dragon's Lair (next door and connected to this restaurant). Since this was a theater event, it was very queer so I figured I was safe as an openly trans woman. I was wrong. I stepped in, presenting female, and the first thing the guy behind the counter did was address me as "sir." When I pointed out that I'm a "miss" or a "madam," he didn't bother to offer an apology, just demanded to know what I wanted. Bottom line: if you're a red-hat-wearing MAGA fan and transphobic hater, this place is for you. Wanted a quick bite to eat while in Davis Square so decided to come here. I'd be lying if I said this wasn't on my list after all the hype from last year. We ordered cheese slices and the lady was nice enough to let us wait for the fresh pie that was in the oven. We also ordered two cokes. After ordering we went and found a table in the dragons lair, the attached room with a bar and games. Our pizza was brought to us and it didn't take long for it to come out! I actually really enjoyed the pizza, it's one of the better cheese slices I've had. It wasn't burnt either which was nice. Came here because it was close by and looked good. I had ordered on the phone and 2 large pizzas took 15 minutes to make so that was awesome. When I got there, the staff was very welcoming and cool when I was taking photos, they even posed! The sizes of the pizzas are so big for their price! I enjoyed the vegetable pizza but I wish there were more veggies on it, you get a bite with vegetables on it every 2-3 bites of a slice. The 3 cheese pizza wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad either. I also know that they sell single slices which I kinda like! Pizza is a well-priced, delicious, light, crispy, thin, and the cheese and sauce taste quality. They just opened their arcade area (which includes a well stocked bar). Staff are delightful. They told us they'd call our number, but brought the pizza to us. One of the employees showed my 5 year old how to get the Ms Pac-Man game working (we didn't have to pay for the game!). One of the best pizzas in the area - It's our go-to in the neighborhood since moving from NYC. None of that fluffy crust, Greek-style pizza that seems to be the norm up here, Dragon Pizza is similar to Brooklyn style: somewhat thin and flavorful crust, great sauces and quality toppings. Popped into Dragon Pizza during my last day visiting Boston and was impressed. Cool decor and lights on the outside. Dragon Pizza has a simple counter-order setup, bar, gelato case and basic seating in the dining room. It was a quiet night, I ordered up a broccoli di rabe slice, the classic maple bacon slice, some meatballs and a beer. The pizza comes out quickly (5 to 7 mins) and it's quite good. Crisp thin-crust, love the broccoli rabe which is light but intense. The maple bacon is excellent with a lot of flavor going on. Thumbs up for the meatball (2) with marinara sauce and cheese, a bit more basic but solid. This funky little pizza spot is quite good and I'd like to order a full pie to see what they can really do but from what I tried, my expectations would be high! read more

I think I've found the best pizza place in the Boston area. These are some top-notch thin crust pizzas. The crust is perfectly crisped on the bottom! Margherita: this seems to be the most popular one, but it didn't wow me to the same extent as it did for others. It was definitely good, but I think I preferred other flavors. Kung Pao: this one tasted how it sounds... A little weird, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you really love the idea of kung Pao on pizza Bacon and Scallion: I think this is tied for my favorite flavor. The bacon is amazing and also has a nice sweetness to it. The scallion goes well with it! Sausage and ricotta: this one is the other one tied for my favorite. Not much else to say - very well done I like how they let you order half and half flavors. The pizzas are very reasonably priced. We got 2 pizzas for 5 people and it was more than enough. Went to Dragon Pizza expecting flavor. Got a crime scene on a crust. Walked into Dragon Pizza hoping for a fire meal, but the only thing on fire was my digestive system an hour later. The pizza tastes like someone dared a raccoon to make it blindfolded. Sauce? Suspicious. Cheese? Questionable. Crust? Less "crispy artisan" and more "cardboard after a light rain." The pizza tasted like it lost a bet. I've had better slices at gas stations--and I'm including the ones that spin under the heat lamp for 14 hours. But the real showstopper? The owner. He's not mean in a "tough New Yorker" type of way--more like a guy who peaked during a high school group project and never let it go. He wears shirts clearly stolen from the children's section. Like, sir, no disrespect, but if I can see your bellybutton outline when you point at the menu, maybe size up? The different types of pizza allow for a lot of different pallets. Sold by the slice or the entire pie. Slices are worth the price. Service is very friendly and the staff enjoy the work they do! Service alone would warrant a trip back. Ambiance is trendy and a bit quirky with hint of old school neighborhood pizza joints. So why 3 stars? Uneven cook. Three different slices of pizza and it felt like the story of the three bears. Momma bear's cheese was too hot. Papa bear's Kamehameha piece was too cold. Of course baby bear's pepperoni was just right. Meat balls were ok. Garlic knots lack garlic flavor and the dipping marinara was cold. One of our group said she heard this place was targeted by conservatives so we came in to support it. Got a sausage and ricotta pie and a meatball sub. I've had the margherita, maple bacon and pepperoni and enjoyed all of them. Fav is the maple bacon - the savory n' sweet with the chili maple, bacon lardons, cheddar and scallions is really dang good, but also quite rich. I typically get a marg slice to balance it out a bit. Wash it down with a beer or lemonade. I like posting up by the window to people watch or sit on the patio if it's open and nice out. The space has a retro pizza vibe and service is pretty fast. Boom, we pop in for a quick slice. Right away, you can see that there's a vibe going on. There's cassettes on the walls, a retro color palette going on, and there's some slices ready to go for reheating (not to mention some cheap cocktails!) I get two slices (I was curious about the Kung Pao Chicken but I would've had to get the pie) and sit down with my slices. A solid meal for about $10. First few bites are enough to tell, this is a really, really solid place with good pizza. Think of it as a cross between a NY style pizza with some out of the box flavors. If you're in the area, absolutely stop by. Great place. Maple bacon cheddar 5/5 - oh baby this was such a good slice. Came right out of the oven and the lardon mixed with the chili maple syrup on this is insane. A little bit of salty, spicy, and sweet was a great combo and then the crunch of the scallions on top. Chefs kiss. Broccoli Rabe 4/5 - a solid slice but the rabe on this one was definitely overpowering the white sauce. The bitterness of the the rabe was a bit strong BUT the white sauce and parm was delicious so if you love white sauce, this might be the slice for you. The serving portion is big (a slice is good if you aren't too hungry) and I don't think I saw anyone ever ordered more than 2 slices to eat. As an avid fan of Asian food, especially fried rice and Kung Pau Chicken, my interest was peaked when I thought about the opportunity to eat Kung Pau Chicken on pizza...the greatest cure to any ailment. Dragon is an unexpectedly awesome spot! It's hip without trying too hard... they try just hard enough. You feel like you're in an old school pizza place, with a standard counter and tables with plastic booths for seating, but there are cool quirks like the cassette tapes on the wall, artistic touches, and interesting light fixtures. The two of us got three slices to share: broccoli rabe, maple bacon cheddar, and garlic sausage & ricotta. They heated them up, and BOOM we were eating in about 5 minutes! It's a quick bite that still feels cool. All three pizza flavors were great in their unique way. The broccoli rabe is a white pie with roasted veggies on top which gave it a great texture and roasted flavor. I loved the red pepper flakes, which added a spicy kick to eat bite. The cheddar on the maple bacon adding a different cheesey element, along with the savory sweet morsels of square bacon bits. And the garlic sausage & ricotta - our personal fave if we had to pick - was a perfect blend of salty sausage & sweet ricotta over marinara and a mozzarella/parmesan blend of cheeses. The crust is thin, which creates more surface area for toppings (the way it should be!). You get full off the good stuff, not just bread. And the crust was also perfectly cooked, slightly charred to make it crispy but not burnt. I recommend Dragon to anyone looking for a quick bite in Davis without compromising on inventiveness or quality. Maple bacon cheddar: the sweetness was so lovely and the bacon pieces are kind of thick. Could've had a bit more chili flavor. Mushroom and onion: the corn sauce was a bit of a surprise but I really liked it. Broccoli rabe: our least favorite but still good. I think the broccoli pieces are just kind of big and unwieldy and it definitely doesn't taste as good when it's colder. The owner was so nice and a lot of regulars came in and he knew them by name!
