The Bad Nothing bad about this location, the staff was welcoming and the restaurant was very nice. They are affiliated with the Dragon sushi in Palm Desert where we had a terrible interaction, but after speaking with the Manager at this location she was very apologetic for the service we received from Enrique at the Palm Desert location. The Ugly The prices seemed a little high but because everything tasted good it can be easy to overlook. The one thing I would change is the crab filler, I have never been a fan of sushi restaurants overusing crab filler but like I said the sushi was fresh and tasted great. I went there for my birthday dinner on 4/17. We called and made a reservation for 10, and it was accepted. We then called back a day later to add two more people and was told they do not accept reservations, but we're going to accommodate us anyway. When we showed up, we were told we would have to sit separate because the table to move (bolted to the ground) it was either a long table for 6 and the other 6 were going to a booth across the restaurant or 3 tables on the same side but still not together. We chose the latter. I've been excited to try all you can eat because it's advertised everywhere on social media, but when I tried to order it, I was informed that the entire table must order the AYCE as well. Although, that information is not posted anywhere. When I asked the host why that information isn't posted, he simply said, " it is what it is." We then shuffled around to get 1 of the 3 tables we had to do the AYCE. Once we figured that out, we were told the ENTIRE party must do the AYCE. It was safe to say I didn't get what I wanted. Once we ordered and received our food, the presentation was nice, but every roll we had fell apart. It was extremely hard to eat. Quality was okay, but nothing else. I understand the concept of pre- bussing but this was something else. We still had food on the plates as the busser lady was trying to grab them. She even grabbed our wine glass from the table that was still half full. She made us feel very rushed. It was a nuance trying to split the checks, but that information was listed on their menu. I sent my husband to Oder a "Mango Tango" roll tonight for when I got off of work. He went and did not receive what I had asked for. I had him ask for a side of spicy mayo, as well as the eel sauce. He was told that it came with it. Which I knew but I wanted an extra side of it. They did not give it to him because again it apparently "came with it". He picks me up from work, but I do not open the food until I get home. None of the sauces were on the roll nor did I get my spicy mayo or eel sauce. I asked him to ask them to put extra cream cheese. Again he was told it came with it. This is a photo of the mango tango I received, which did not come with any of the sauces it usually does. On top of that my husband was charged for a Philadelphia roll? Maybe they misunderstood when he had requested extra cream cheese. Or maybe Cassandra the hostess does not know how to take orders. The food was good. The udon soup came out hot but the miso soup was lukewarm when it came out. Then the server didn't come back for another 10 minutes with the sushi. Being a repeat customer, I'm very disappointed in management this time around. Placed an online order two weeks ago and had a rude employee call me to tell me they were out of greenbean fries. Long story short, I told her to cancel my order because of how rude she was being on the phone. I've tried to contact the manager several times until she finally called back today. The manager was as useless as the employee Joselle who I initially dealt with. She said she couldn't refund my order because her employee who took my order said my son picked up the order. First of all, it was an online order so no one "took" my order. And second, I don't even have a son. The server we had yesterday I would consider rude due to the fact she was helping all the other tables but not us. I would see her walk by as a waited for a re-fill. She saw that our glasses were empty and would just look the other way. She kept helping the table behind not once did to asked if we needed anything else. This not the 1st nor 2nd time this server has done this. Every time she serves us the customer service is bad. When we order we are still ordering and she would walk away, We never get refills or get asked if we need anything else. The food here is great just this 1 person kinda ruined it. Maybe next time I will request to get another server. I get sometimes you have a bad day or something but don't take it on on the customers, we are there to eat and get good service or at least decent service. I was invited to lunch by my attorney because he is a regular here. We were seated right away and the waiter was new and he did his best to serve us. He explained the menu and we ordered the all you can eat which cost 34.99 pretty steep then other places but it was very convenient because his practice is literally across the street. The place was dead and the staff was massaging each others back and horse playing. If you do not believe me, go back on the cameras and see for yourself. The food was semi cold and the food was not to my liking. It was bland. Food was very fishy and wasn't fresh. I am just reviewing my experience here. We also left a few pieces of rolls and they wanted to charge us extra. They were watching us like hawks and whispering amongst them selves as if we were criminals for leaving food. LOL! Finally came back to Dragon Sushi for AYCE after a handful of years. The decor has not changed much but I felt like they could have been doing more thorough cleaning of the store. It felt quite musky and the tables were kind of sticky. Upon arriving I asked if we could get seated at a booth and they gladly accommodated but the table did not have the right settings. I had to ask for the soy sauce dishes and an extra napkin and chopsticks for my boyfriend because 6 minutes in they still didn't realize we needed an extra place setting. Ordered quite a few rounds of AYCE and multiple people came to check up on us which was great. I liked how the sushi rolls were still portioned right with a nice rice to fish ratio. The last nigri plate I ordered had way too much wasabi on it so my nose felt the heat. I enjoyed the shrimp tempura roll a lot. The ocotopus nigris were delicious although they could do with less wasabi and maybe a little less rice. The calamari roll was kind of disappointing, a lot of fried batter a little ocotpus. My boyfriend was a vegetarian so he had to still do the AYCE because I was which is very sad, I felt like it was a complete waste of money because all he ate were 2 avocado rolls, an order of edamame, veggie tempura and a miso soup and I still had to pay almost 40$ for that. I hope they can actually work on that for others who are vegetarian and go with someone who eats fish if they could separate the orders. The avocado rolls he had were really disappointing because he said the avocados tasted raw and were hard. I asked for the check and we had 1 more nigri left on our plate and our waitress demeaningly asked if we were going to finish it, we had to say yes before she moved on to retreieve our checks. It's literally ONE piece of nigri. Would I return? Maybe, possibly if I had a hinkering for AYCE sushi but I doubt I can return and spend 90$ on sushi for both me and my boyfriend who just eats the veggie rolls. Went in for lunch on a Friday and it was fairly quiet. The service was friendly and quick. I ordered miso soup, which basically tastes the same anywhere, and the Tuna Lovers roll. It was tasty though I do remember this specific roll not having rice ‍. Maybe since their remodel (the restaurant is a lot bigger than before) their rolls changed too? Either way, it was pretty good. Wished tthe old Tuna Lovers roll I used to get. Update: Went back yesterday and had the Tuna Wrap roll and I was in heaven. I had gotten it confused with the Tuna Lovers roll. I'm sad to give this place two stars due to how well I rated their Palm Desert location. The food is always amazing at each dragon sushi, but the service is magnificently different. The service in Indio is very subpar compared to the other location and they even offer AYCE which the other doesn't. I really wish I could give this spot more stars due to how well their counterpart is doing, but for now, the service is just too hard to get past. From the amazing staff to the awesome food. My server Drina was really helpful and gave top of the line service :) I ordered the gorilla brains. It was sooooo delicious. Two thumbs up and five stars! I sometimes would go with my family to another place in indio, only cause this one server was great, well it turns out that she now works here! Her name is Torry. I call her the girl with the pretty lashes. She is always on top of things, we have become regulars here so she knows how i always ask for a side of hot sauce and eel sauce, i dont even have to ask her for it, she always brings it out and stuff like that is what I appreciate from a server. Regardless of that I didn't appreciate the fact that the gratuity was automatically added and we were a party of 5! (3 adults 2 kids) And I personally didn't think the waiter deserved that tip. All I can say is I love this place came in on Wednesday with family we had a big party and didn't mind waiting for our favorite server, Frenchie is amazing even tho the she was busy she still manage to help out our family members who had never been here. She asked questions and recommended accordingly to my sis and sister in law needs and wants!!! She is one of my favorites here, drinks are always on point as well as the sushi!!
