We googled the best sushi spots and this spot was recommended. My family and I love spending time eating good food. Dragon Sushi is another spot we go when have a Sushi craving. They offer different kinds of sushi and all you can eat as well. You can order to go if you like. The restaurant is always clean including the restroom. The atmosphere is very calming and not to rowdy in my opinion. The employees are nice and friendly. The service is a hit and miss. Sometimes they are attentive and other times you have to wave down a server. They have a bar if you are looking to enjoy your sushi with a beer or mixed drink. The sushi can range from your typical California Roll to their own sushi creation. I always order the California Roll, Veggie Roll or Mango Tango Roll. Have not tried the sushi that comes with raw food which is not my favorite. I love their Miso Soup! On our last visit, I was able to try the Tiger Roll and Mango Tango. The Tiger Roll is basically a California Roll with a shrimp on top. It is a simple yet a delicious selection. Now the Mango Tango, very delicious indeed! It comes with cream cheese, avocado, cucumber, crab, shrimp and top off with mango and soy paper. Man, man! This is one of the best rolls in my opinion! Makes my mouth water while writing this review! Overall, Dragon Sushi is a nice spot to enjoy some good sushi and spend time with family and friends or have a date. We eat here about once every couple months. The fish is fresh, the presentation is good and the special rolls are tasty. Today, there just the two of us, but we ordered a boat. It was supposed to come with soup, salad and rice. About 8 minutes after placing our order, the server brought the soup. Seems like it should have come immediately, followed by the salad before the boat arrived. But, shortly after receiving the soup, the boat arrived. About 10 minutes later we flagged the server down and asked about the salad and the rice. The server said she would check with the kitchen (??). After another five minutes she brought the salads and rice. When we finished our meal we again had to flag the server down to request our check for which we waited another 6 minutes. We immediately handed the server our CC. After again waiting for the CC to come back, we asked to speak with a manager. A minute later the card was returned. When a manager didn't arrive after six minutes, we left. Service is sometimes spotty here, but they are usually packed. The situation described above occurred at 4:00 on a Thursday afternoon with only three other tables occupied and four servers on the floor. I just noticed another recent review that says the servers only get 50% of the tips they receive. Maybe that's what's behind the poor service. :( read more

my friends and I decided to try out dragon sushi for the first time and had a awful experience. We got sat and then it took about 10 minutes for them to even greet us and ask for our drinks. Then we had to ask a food runner for refills because we never saw our server. Finally, the server (her name starts with a J) had messed up on a order and we said it was fine we will just have the one she gave us but she told us that she would get us the other one also. Then she charged us for both items even though we didn't want both and proceeded to have a bad attitude and blame us even though it was her mistake. So I finally got my Egyptian Gf to meet me at dragon for lunch this week. We ate here 3 times this week. I think I created a monster!! One of the best reasons to be in Indio on jury duty is the hour and a half lunch I got to spend at dragon. We have been eating here since they opened and thankfully have watched them grow and expand into the spot next door,which they needed to. If you want to drink alcohol stay on the original side as they have the liquor license. Something to keep in mind when coming here and doing the all you can eat menu is that it seems as though they add more seasoning to the rice the longer you stay so you'll get grossed out and leave. This has happened to me about 3-4 times. The first few visits I thought that maybe it was done accidentally and now I can say this is true because whenever I come we do order a lot because it's not something we can always do so we like to enjoy. But after a while the rice is super seasoned its hard to swallow. It just tastes like rice vinegar it's really unpleasant. When we come and order the regular menu this doesn't happen. I was really impressed with the venue, because you are in the heart of downtown Indio, which is less than appetizing to be in already, but then you walk into this restaurant and you forget that you are in Indio, super clean and nice set up. All the rolls seem like California rolls with NO avocado and just a different piece of fish on top, so they are pretty much all the same. The all you can eat doesn't have much variety when in comes to the rolls, again, they are pretty much all the same in content. The prices isn't cheap either. I am glad there is somewhere to go in Indio during my lunch hour in case I do want to grab a sushi roll for lunch. read more

I came in on a busy holiday Saturday without reservations and was seated right away, at the sushi bar... Otherwise it would've been a 20 minute wait. Hostess was friendly and attentive. The sushi jedi behind the counter was nice and greeted us right away. The dishes for the night included: the Chicken Bowl, Yakitori, Sushi Pizza, and Red Mountain roll. Really enjoyed my surroundings as I waited. The decor is actually really nice inside making you forget you're in a bustling little shopping center on basically the main and busiest street in the valley. There was anything from oldies but goodies to 80s playing overhead (think Beach Boys with some Human League). The tunes made it a fun experience. The Red Mountain rolls was my favorite. Tuna was thick cut and not too much rice. Only problem is that it seemed huge. The Sushi Pizza is good but not something I would get again... Not my thing I guess. If you've ever had Frankie's Fresh Fish in Indio (before it sadly burned), then you might've tried the 'Desert Dot,' a bite of what I would compare to the chopped calamari topping on the Red Mountain roll: aka delicious. Note: Dragon does have a desert dot of their own that looks promising itself. Service, food, drinks, atmosphere: all good in my opinion. Real good sushi. Clean,tasty and nice service. It is a lil slow but not in a bad way,they just have a lot of younger waitresses that aren't on top of their stuff, but their nice. They don't have real crab so that's the only bad thing. On the other hand they have a wonderful caterpillar roll in which I add eel and it is amazing!! read more

So to start this review I went there for lunch with my 3 year old daughter and sister in law. So our bill was was just for two people. I decided to order a cucumber salad, spicy tuna roll, rainbow roll and chicken teriyaki bowl for my daughter. And two ice teas. Doesn't seem like much correct? And the prices should be reasonable for lunch as well right? Yeah, not so much. Will get down to that later down the review. As for the food. I will say that at best it is commercial for your average person whom likes sushi, but doesn't truly appreciate the art of sushi. The spicy tuna roll was just not spicy at all and a bit bland. Thank God for Soy sauce. Because that was the only saving grace to the roll. If you're going to mark your rolls with a chile indicating its spice, then make sure that it lives up to it. Also, not a fan paying $7 bucks for a simple roll. The Rainbow roll my favorite roll of all. You cannot go wrong with the deliciousness of the simplicity. And here, it was simply lacking the fresh taste and flavor that makes a Rainbow Roll. Over all if you're trying to try out sushi for the first time or are a beginner then yes, this might be the place for you, but I would rather go elsewhere to spend my money and get a better experience. read more

Honestly, this place is mediocre. My dad spent forever trying to find a roll he liked. I feel they're trying to be an American meets sushi place. They have bar snacks/appetizers that are as far from sushi as possible (quesadillas, chips, wings, etc) and a lot of their rolls seem to be trying some trend. I understand trying to be different, but the fish isn't as fresh as it could be, not saying it was bad, but you know still had a lower end place taste. It just wasn't impressive, especially for the price. I'm not saying don't go here, or it's horrible. They have a selection and some different style. Just saying it's an average place with average size and average tasting sushi rolls. Nothing exciting. When we walked in, the place is a quiant Japanese-esque themed. It is dark and intimate. The lighting is somewhat dimmed at the booths and tables giving an ambiance about it. We were not greeted promptly since there was no host at the door. We were not seated promptly either, but it was reasonable considering there was no one at the front. After being seated, our server was courteous and attentive. We decided to go with the all you can eat (AYCE) sushi. We started with appetizers to get us started, then the AYCE started. We were served within reasonable time considering more guests started to come in for dinner. Our server would check in on us from time to time. Now, for the sushi. I have no major complaints. The sushi was delicious! We order a few spicy scallop hand rolls, and it was delicious! The other sushi rolls were also delicious. On another note, the rice was not cooked well. It tasted like the rice needed more water during cooking. Moreover, our first round of a few sushi rolls were fine, it was the second round of a few sushi rolls was when we noticed the rice was somewhat "crunchy"... how rice tastes like when it didn't have enough water while cooking. Other than that, the sushi was delicious, the service was adequate and satisfactory. The staff was courteous and friendly. We will still come back for dinner from time to time. Food is always 5 stars, service is always 1 star at best since it's usually nonexistent. The only reason we keep coming is because the food is always on point. My boyfriend always gets the spicy crunchy tuna roll and he says that'd be his last meal if he ever had to pick lol! I love their dinner special, I always get the 3 piece option (they have a lot of options, I always get teriyaki chicken, tempura, and California roll so I can share the sushi with him).
