My family loves Dragon Sushi! We first went to Dragon because we heard they had the best Chavelas in the desert. They are definitely delicious. What keeps us coming back, almost once a week, is the good food and the great service. Some of our favorites are the Hawaiin Roll (awesome if you love Ahi), the Ninja Roll, and the Monkey Brain (Crab & Spicy Tuna stuffed, fried Mushroom). Jane is our favorite waitress and we ask for her every time. She is so attentive and goes the extra mile every time. This was the go to place for us since 2014. Up until recently the sushi was decent but mostly convenient because its close. We've had a couple issues these past few months with service but today was it. The staff just doesnt care. It seems like there is no communication between Host and Server. And there only seemed to be one server going around even though there were many people working, including a 'manager'. We got sat fairly quickly, and we sat there for at least 10min before getting a menu(we got the AYCE). Then waitied another ~15min to get a marker, one lady said she would bring a marker shortly, the. The server came and asked if we were ready to order before stopping herself and mentioned that we still didnt have a marker. We finally got one and were starving but we ordered simple things(2 rolls and a few nigiri). Yet it took ~30-40min for the food to arrive. When it FINALLY arrived it was like it had been in the fridge for 25min! It was stone cold! Literally the ginger on our plate was warmer. We were starving and ate some but couldnt even finish the one roll we each got(my gf and i). We complained to our server that we only wanted to pay for the food we got and leave as everything was so cold we had lost our appetite. Said she would get a manager who only instructed her to tell us we couldnt change our bill because there are rules to all you can ear and we ordered cold rolls. He could have easily came and told us himself as she was a little busy but he couldnt even bother to do that. I had to ask her to tell him to come over so we could talk. He only kept trying to say that we ordered 'cold rolls' and he couldnt change the price since we did AYCE even though we couldnt eat the 2 rolls we ordered. Eventually he charged us for what we ate and apologized for the wait. Its clear the people working there dont care about service for the customers. In the past 10months of reviews of this the owner has responded to ONE. So he if he doesnt care what people say good or bad how/why would the workers care anymore more than him. Service is bad. We were there for 20 minutes and they didn't even bring us waters. You're better off going to Coachella Pho across the street. We were fortunate to find seating and good service there (honest truth, not a shameless plug for another restaurant) There's not much to add to this review, because as I stated earlier, the wait staff was completely inattentive, and there appeared to be a lot of confusion over table assignments. It was my boyfriend first time coming down to Indio and I will tell you. I will not be returning anytime soon. This place is way OVER PRICED for no reason. I came for dinner a few nights ago, we order the heart attack appetizer and right when I took the first bite I spit it out, the tuna taste super funky and it has taste as it was gone bad, and I addressed this to the server and she reply by saying "Nothing is wrong with it, we can't take it off the bill we made the tuna this morning". Decided to order takeout from Dragon Sushi on NYE. They explained they were pretty busy and would call me in 40 min to let me know my order was ready. After an hour passed, I decided to give them a call to check in. They advised it was ready (No big deal. It's NYE, I get it) Upon arriving home, we realized our order was incorrect. So I decided to call the restaurant back and inform them of the mixup. They agree to call me back once it's ready (again, no big deal)...except I never got a call back!!! A couple days later I wanted to place a NEW ORDER and hopefully add what I had previously paid for on NYE and was very disappointed on how they handled the matter. According to them, they prepared the missing items and it was never picked up. Nothing else they could do. Really? You're willing to lose business over an APPETIZER. Fantastically surprised dining here for the first time. It was wonderful to know that some of the sushi chefs from Frankie's Fish are now at this location. My friends have been trying to get me to try this location and now that I have, I believe I found my new sushi restaurant. Everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time and it was such a pleasure to see people having a good evening--- both staff and customers. Luckily I have no problem chatting with people because through another couple (whom stated they dine here every week) informed me of the names of the sushi chefs. My sushi chef was John and he was very attentive to my orders and a pleasure to watch make sushi. I did the All You Can Eat (25.99 dinner) and Sea Urchin a la carte. Sea urchin was wonderful and the AYCE menu had a nice selection for the price you're paying. They do serve alcohol but I didn't drink any tonight. I recommend this place and will be dining again. We decided to go here because selection is a bit slim in this area. Now I don't mind paying $23 per person for AYCE sushi. However, for that high of a lunch price, the selection should be above average. First thing I noticed missing was the Spider Roll. Second thing was Dynomite and Udon. Since we're already here, we thought we'd give them a shot. Right off the bat the server notifies us of the $1 per piece charge for lefty overs. I thought that was a bit presumptuous. We were well dressed and carried ourselves appropriately. That statement should be posted rather than spoken. The food did arrive fairly quickly. The presentation was pleasant. Not too crazy about the wasabi being automatically on all the sushi. That does not leave room for those sensitive to the horseradish. They had Unagi sauce and panko on all the rolls. This made all the rolls taste the same. There was also an over abundance of rice. The rice should never wrap around almost twice. You could only taste the sweet sauce and rice. If my wife didn't tell me, I wouldn't of know the difference. The Albacore was slightly chewy as if they had freezer burn. The octopus was quite tender. The eel sushi was perfect. Although there was hardly any on the roll. Here is the huge problem with our lunch! We are on our second roll when my wife finds a blonde curly hair on the bottom of a piece of sushi! She quietly calls over the server and shows the hair. There should be no doubt that the meal should be comped. If not mine, at least hers. They offered her a free dessert. How would that be comparable to a hair free meal? When they brought the check, they gave her 50% off of het meal. Disappointing to say the least. read more

The service was very, very slow here. They had outside seating and did not seat us; they had us wait 15+ minutes and we could not leave. They did not offer to take our phone number to call us when or table was ready. There was no room to wait inside and it was hot outside. They were very slow to bring our waters. They did not refill them until we asked and were very slow at that also. The AYCE menu sucks. A lot of the rolls I wanted were not on the AYCE menu. I was not happy about it. Their appetizer selection on the the AYCE menu was small. Remember to ask for the AYCE menu specifically - it is separate sheet and was very flimsy and dirty. Also, $30 was too much for a limited AYCE. The one pro I have about this place was that the rolls we did taste were good. No complaints about the food. We liked the desert dots and the crunchy Philadelphia roll. I also liked the full sushi menu layout; it was easy to see which rolls were baked/fried or raw with the color coding system. However, I would not choose to return here. They need to hire more employees to meet the demand, especially during busy times - like the weekends. read more

I should have left. Lol. Then the waitress, Jane, did not take her time like the waitresses usually do, thank goodness right? This time, she walks up very promptly and guess what she says? We will be closing soon. Geez, at this point, if they dont want to serve anymore people, they should put the closed sign outside right at 10pm. Anyway, we proceed to order our drinks without her asking, we order and she says, I need your orders now. In a RUDE manner. My father couldn't even scan his menu and she proceeded to make us feel so uncomfortable by continuously checking her watch. WE GET IT, YOU WANT US OUT. At this point, my pregnant body begins to get hot because I begin to get anxiety. So we order, she brings our food pretty much wrong, but we don't complain. Trying to still make the best of it. My father ordered a beer as his drink, she never brought it, he was scared to mention it, so I did & and she rolls her eyes and says, let me check if the bar is opened still. There are people sitting at the bar drinking.... let alone, he ordered it as his drink lol. goodness. So, we are trying to dig in, with no soy sauce, napkins or sauce trays. We are literally not even wanting to deal with her attitude. She walks by with soy sauce, my father asks for it and yet again she rolls her eyes! I was in shock honestly lol. I have never dealt with that before. Moving forward, we are not even half way into our rolls when she continuously walks by picking up random plates from our table without asking. So at this point, We give up. I don't say anything, we inhale our roll and leave 5 minute after 11pm. DO NOT COME HERE. First time I came there was hair in my roll. Should have just stayed away. We have eaten there 3 times in the past 2 wks and are so pleased that each time we go we are so delighted with the quality of the food and the very friendly service.
