Dragonfly Thai was such a pleasant surprise! My friend and I were right across the street at nearby Promenade and the Palos Verdes Street Fair and Music Festival when we decided to check out Dragonfly Thai. The restaurant is small, cute and classy. There is a long wooden table bench for large parties in the middle. There are high tables and stools on the right side and there are smaller tables with cozy fabric chairs the left. They also have outdoor seating. I knew this restaurant had lunch specials but I didn't expect that they would have $9.99 lunch specials! Considering the location of this restaurant; I was totally expecting their lunch specials would be at a higher price point. The $9.99 was definitely a wonderful deal! Their $9.99 lunch specials are served daily from 11am to 2:30pm and comes with rice (choice of brown or white rice), salad and two crispy wontons. One can also add a fountain drink for $1.00. Choices for the lunch entrees are chicken, beef, vegetable or tofu. There are 12 different lunches specials to choose from and include Thai favorites like Pad Thai, Chili and Sweet Thai Basil and Curry dishes. I chose to get their Dragonfly Fried Rice with beef and my friend got their Yellow Curry with chicken. The Dragonfly Fried Rice had eggs, cucumber, onions and green onions. I thought the fried rice was very flavorful. Their portion size is not the largest but this dish still got me pretty full and content. I also got to try a little bit of my friend's Yellow Curry with chicken and thought this was also a great dish. The yellow curry was rich and savory. It was perfect over white rice. Last but not least I wanted to do a special mention for the complimentary fried wontons that came with the lunch specials! I loved these crispy wontons. They were filled with a yellow curry sweet potato. These were so good and such a nice add to the lunch special. I was definitely impressed with lunch here and if ever I am in the area; I would love to visit again! Location is great considering it is right across from the Promenade and it is in hustling and bustling shopping plaza with lots of shopping stores like Target, Five Below & Old Navy. This is a great spot for yummy and affordable Thai food in PV!

I should have written this review much sooner since for years we have been coming to Dragonfly for quick meals. Located at eastern corner of the Peninsula Center, it has seating for around 20 people when including the huge table in the middle of the restaurant, which can seat multiple parties during busy hours. It is not really a place to take your blind date but the food is good and the price is quite reasonable. My favorite dish is mushroom ginger chicken. The sauce is light but tasty with hint of ginger. The dish has enough vegetables (baby corn, celery, mushroom and carrot) to satisfy your daily fiber intake. The chicken is on the lean side but not overly hard. Another must try dish is their Pad Thai with its sauteed noodle, vegetable and your favorite protein. Service is pretty good but the tables need to be cleaned more often since they sometimes feel a little bit sticky. But no big deal.

#58 Pepper & Garlic! You can order with beef or chicken!

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS AND FRESH! Consistently great customer service and food. The ratings don't do it justice. A must try for awesome thai food with great quality ingredients!

This spot has a really great lunch special with many items to choose from. I got the orange chicken which was well worth the price. The sauce and salad dressing were a bit sweet for my liking but can't complain for the price of it. Service was great and they have indoor and outdoor seating. Portions are great for a quick weekday lunch!

Great lunch specials! You never see lunch specials anymore, especially with the price of $9.99. This was a pleasant experience and wonderful food. There's plenty of indoor seating and outdoors to the side of the building. The servers bring your food out if you're sitting outside as well! One thing I wish for is chili sauce with a little bit more kick to it! They do have chili powder and sriracha though.

The waiters were very friendly and let us get free candy! but as a recommendation, it would help if the waiters could assist us and offer more hospitality towards the guests. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant which I appreciate, it is a good place to relax. As for the food, I ordered the satay and two pad thai noodles. In my personal opinion, the pad thai tasted okay. I am not much of a critique on food so I wouldn't have much to say other than the fact that the pad thai was very flavorful which I liked, but it wasn't my favorite. I ordered the milk tea and I didn't enjoy it as much but perhaps it could be because I ordered it with coconut milk and it is my first time trying it. I rated this restaurant a three because while the food exceeded in terms of chewy texture and flavorful, I wasn't a fan of the sauce because it had little to no umami flavor. Thank you for the food and experiance.

The good: I tried the crab Rangoon, golden pillows, pineapple fried rice, drunken noodles, some meat stir fry (I cannot recall the name). There are some outside tables as well as inside tables for dining in. The bad: The pineapple fried rice was subpar to any pineapple fried rice I've had before. It didn't have a nice wok flavor. The drunken noodles also seemed to lack authentic flavor. The stir fry was also just ok. The golden pillows were underwhelming and small. Both the Rangoons and pillows had the same wonton wrapper but shaped differently. The flavors all couldn't have been intensified. It lacked Thai basil, fish sauce, and other authentic flavors found in the typically flavorful Thai food. The interesting: The place seems to be more of a takeout place but the interior did fill up when I came for a sit-down dinner. You order at the counter ahead. The table in the middle is a larger communal table. It's the only table that'll seat 4+ people.

We came by on a Friday night to try to get a quick dinner but they were very understaffed this night. One girl was in charge of the cashier, serving and busing all the tables inside and outside. She was trying her best and doing the best that she could but it was honestly too much work for one person. They had a lot of people in the back of the kitchen however the food still took a good 30-40 min to get to us. I ended up getting the Yellow Chicken Curry. It was pretty good - it was very creamy and rich with spices. It's nothing super special but definitely has all the qualities that you would expect in a curry. I would definitely consider coming back another time when they have their operational issues sorted out.

Decided on a whim to eat here while walking around the complex. Seating is limited but they have a large table in the middle dominating the place kind of like a common seating table you'd find at starbucks or the library. It wasn't busy so we just sat there since all other tables are for 2 people (we had 3 people). I'd say this place is better to dine in for only 1 or 2 people. Seems to cater more towards takeout orders. Anyways... the menu had the common thai fare. There were symbols dictating their recommendations so we just went with 2 of those. Green Curry (4): Good flavor profile. Nice mix of veggies. I got chicken and it was as expected. Everything relied on the flavor of the curry but the curry was good. Pineapple Fried Rice (4): The overall combination of nuts and everything was good. The kids I was with kinda picked their least favorite things out. I liked it though. The 2 pieces of shrimp that it came with were large and tasty. Overall a solid dish. Cashier and server were friendly. Dishes came out super fast and hot. Both were good. Overall I'd say this is a decent local Thai joint but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here specifically.

Very bad my husband and I came in yesterday. We ordered a pineapple fried rice, seafood fried rice and a steak PadThai. The seafood fried rice was super fishy, seafood tasted old almost not eatable, seafood seems spiked to be honest. The oi sole fried rice is soluço see tô come chicken and shrimp, it has 2 shrimp only, mostly rice and pineapple. And the PadThai was the worst PadThai I've ever had. I almost didn't eat it. I didn't even take a picture of the PadThai was not "pleasant" enough for a photo. The pineapple fried rice was almost the only eatable thing but still not great. A ton of rice almost, no shrimp.

The Pho had a nice rich broth but certainly lacking in size and meat portions for the price paid and compared to other places around SoCal. I got the large and I'd hate to see how small the regular would be. The cubed filet was cooked tender, right amount of sauce, and had a good flavor profile. But again, needed more meat to justify the price. Service was prompt though basic, nothing special and polite enough. Could be worth another visit but some deals or a price cut/portion increase would be needed.

This creative pop-up kitchen is serving up some seriously interesting Korean fusion dishes. I decided to shake things up and try their bulgogi over pasta instead of the usual rice - and wow! Flavorful bulgogi paired wonderfully with perfectly al dente, garlic-infused noodles. It's not a combination I would have dreamed up, but it works! Though the prices run a bit high, the quality justifies the cost. Interestingly, the talented chef behind the counter bore a striking resemblance to the owner of Yellow Fever (Closed) on Crenshaw - though I can't say for certain if it's the same person.

I ordered online and they had it ready for pick up when I arrived 5 mins later. Be aware that the restaurant is doubled up with Fat Tomato Pizza. I took photos to help future customers. I ordered spicy pork over rice, beef over noodles, and a little side of curry to try their curry. Cons: Location. There is very little signage. You don't know you're there until you're at the door. The food is a little on the sweet side. I was hoping for a spicy garlic pork that was leaning more toward salty than sweet. But it was somehow sweeter than the beef bulgolgi. The beef is a little dry but not jerky level as previous reviews have stated. It is clear though that the dishes are put in the pizza oven. There is no restroom and very very limited seating inside. This is a pick up only kind of place. Pros: The noodles are good. No lying there. They feel kinda like fresh ramen noodles so they have some chew to them which give a great texture. The meat is well marinated. Even if it's not to my flavor liking, there isn't any moment where the meat has no flavor. There is also the speed with which the order was filled. The price is also a pro in the current state of the world. So yeah. Def recommend if your at the top of the hill and looking for someplace the find and pick up.

Located on the corner of PCH and Penn Ave, the restaurant features its own 16-car parking lot. Inside, the décor is quite casual, and it is spacious enough to accommodate 50 guests. Upon arrival, the friendly staff promptly guided us to our table and brought menus and water right away. While perusing their menu, we found out they have stinky tofu. Yes, stinky tofu! The dish, with its pungent aroma and unique flavor, caused the ultimate sensory conflict between the taste and smell when we tried it for the first time. So, in a benign masochistic way, we went ahead and ordered their Crispy Spicy Stinky Tofu with Pork. When the dish arrived, we apologized profusely to our next table patrons for the smell, and even offered to let them try it, which they unhesitatingly and politely refused. This restaurant's version was slightly different. The fried tofu cubes had a tougher texture, less airy, and were lightly flavored. The sauce was nicely spicy, but the ground pork was present only in spirit because we couldn't find it. Overall, it was not too bad, but it could be better. Besides the tofu dish, we also ordered their Seafood in Crab Meat Sauce Noodle. This was an interesting dish. The soup came separately from the noodles and starchy sauce, which had shrimp and fish fillet toppings. This setup allows you to dilute the soup's thickness to your liking. The noodles were nicely al dente, the sauce was well seasoned, and the shrimp and fish filets had a great texture. Crab meat sauce was blended in the broth and kind of MIA. Lastly, we ordered Black Pepper Seafood Rice Cake. The sauce was pleasantly savory, a tad sweet, and slightly spicy from black peppers. The sliced rice cakes had a perfect texture: neither too soft nor too hard. The pieces of squid and fish filet toppings had a very nice consistency. The prices were reasonable and the food was very good. Recommended.
