I had not been here before and I am glad I stopped by. I asked the waiter what he recommended and he was very helpful in thoughtfully explaining the dishes. The Tom Kah Kai soup was outstanding and cooked to order. I tried the Pad See Ew at the waitter's suggestion and it was FANTASTIC. Delicious food and great service. The place is small, but there's seating outside, which you can get pretty in the afternoons. The servings are big and can be shared family style. You can just ask them to give you extra plates since there are already utensils and napkins at each seat. The drinks take a little longer for them to make. read more

Not bad, but there were a couple of issues. I had a late lunch here today. I hadn't eaten all day as usual, too busy running around. And I had a taste for broccoli for the second day in a row. I love the stuff. So I ordered broccoli & brown sauce (with brown rice) and I added shrimp for a couple bucks extra. I was so hungry that I didn't complain, I just ate it. But I doubt I'll return to Dragonfly. When I took pictures of my food and the signage for Dragonfly Thai, I felt a bit peeved. You see, my Thai food experience is very, very limited and thus I cannot give you an accurate assessment of what is authentic and what isn't. Fuck Lomita Thai! What I can tell you is that I loved the Pad Woon Sen from Dragonfly. I had seen this place many times going to Jamba Juice, but I was always scared away....why??? I don't know. Thankfully they have a website so I was also able to peep that before entering. I got over that silly fear and took the plunge. I'm glad I did. The glass noodles and beef with eggs and other assorted veggies were great. It could have used some soy sauce, but I didn't ask for any because I didn't want to seem like an idiot. This place is super clean and I really wished I ate there, but I was in a hurry (people who know me say that this is a fault of mine). Its a bit smallish on the inside, with one long table in the middle and several on both sides. The 1 star was taken away for that price....around $10. Eeek! Came here with family and sat outside. They were nice enough to bring the food out to us. We ordered four dishes: Pad Thai Chicken Pad See Ew Beef Yellow Curry Panang Curry The Pad Thai was okay; just average in general. The Pad See Ew was pretty weak. Not much flavor, but the noodles were done well. The Yellow Curry was tasty, about what you get everywhere else The Panang Curry was pretty lame. If it had some kick or more flavor I would have enjoyed it more. Nobody really touched it more than once. read more

First time here and it was pretty good for an Asian place on the hill. The pad thai was ok - it was not very peanut-y and the sauce was a little too sweet. However, the noodles were coked perfectly and they gave a large portion. The pad see ew was better I liked that the broccoli had some crunch left and it wasn't a soggy mess. I may be odd, but other than Indian dishes, I hate sauce completely overwhelming my food (specifically tomato, alfredo or soy sauce.) I give it an extra star for being more healthy than other places and not drowning their food in salt or sauce. The cashier was kind and the other people there were efficient. They said it takes 20 min for to go and its on the menu too, so I didn't complain - wandered around Rite Aid for a bit. I suggest calling your order in if you are short on time. read more

We really like this place and have been back several times now. Of course, I had to convince the wife to accept Dragonfly over Thai Thani, a place I've been going to in Redondo Beach ever since I was a kid, but Dragonfly makes more sense since we live on the hill and we can be grubbin' on tasty Thai food in a matter of 15 minutes. Tom Kah Kai soup was great, very similar to the one at Thai Thani. Spicy Beef Salad wasn't exactly spicy but it was decent....I think the beef should be a lot spicier and have some more seasoning but I'm compariing this to one I had down in Riviera Village at a fish market when I was a kid. Thing was awesome. The curry (can't remember which one exactly) we ordered was delicious as was the pineapple rice (which may even be better than the one at Thai Thani...shudder). The chili & sweet basil dish was really tasty....great, fresh ingredients. Really nice flavor. Eggplant lover's was great too. But where's the Mee Krob!? Even though I'm not entirely certain it's an authentic dish, I do love me some Mee Krob so I'd love to see it on the menu. It's a silly dish, kind of like candy, but I've been having it since I was a kid, so there. Anyway, obviously we like this place and have been back several times. I do hope it survives up in Palos Verdes (really tough market) and it seems to be hanging in so that's good! Decor is actually nice, a cool communal table in the center. Although we always take out. The boyfriend and I used to traverse all the way down the hill to Tasty Siam for Thai food, but luckily, Dragonfly Thai is perched comfortably and conveniently in the Penninsula Center. The prices do seem a bit on the steep side for Thai food, all things considered. The portions are more tailored for individual eatin' than family style sharing, so order carefully. The red pineapple curry with either tofu or chicken is what I usually get. It comes in an oversized coffee mug along with a dollop of rice (rice was on the mushy side last time). Curries here seem to be tasty and priced at around $7. Be sure to order the $5 appetizer salad they have-- well priced, comes with fresh lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, and the signature peanut sauce. Service is friendly and fast-- front counters seem to be run by high school kids, but they're doing their job so no hate here. Seating in general is limited inside, consider going at an off-time for meals. read more

They make their food fresh so it takes awhile for them to make the food. Sunday nights it's busier because their neighbor chicken maison is closed. The didn't have a wide selection of chili sauces. They just had a counter with flatware and sirracha. We ordered take out pad prig king with beef and pad see ew with chicken. We got a side of brown rice too. The brown rice was cooked very well. Everything was very fresh and well prepared but wasn't well seasoned. The flavors just didn't deliver that thai punch I'm used to. I ended up just making a mix of everything and topping it with sirracha. In the end I ate a lot of it. It will have to do considering the area I was in. read more

I've given this place a shot several times. I've tried several of the curry dishes from the green to the red curries, as well as the Pad Thai Dish. Overall the service is good and the food is prepared fairly quickly. The prices are reasonable and there is indoor and outdoor seating available to customers. There is ample parking in front of the restaurant. The reason for the 3-star rating, however, is the fact that the dishes come out too sweet for my taste. I don't get the authentic Thai Taste to the dishes. It's more of a Chinese version of Thai food, with a sweet after taste for the pad thai, and the curries being slightly too sweet as well. I've had far better Thai food given that I personally like spicy Thai food with no discernable sugary taste. read more

Tonight I thought I'd try something else and got the Pas Thai, waited over an hour for it on Postmates when I live down the street. Food was alright but the portions of meat for the plates were awful. I had ordered pineapple fried rice (shrimp & chicken) and Kung Pao chicken. The pineapple fried rice had 2 total shrimps in it and hardly any chicken. The Kung pao was all onions and bell pepper and also hardly any chicken. Food could've been good with the correct portions but they seem to want to cheap out and save money. Oh well read more

This is a great spot to have a quick, outdoor lunch in the shade. If you call in your order ahead of time and it will be done when you arrive. There were two of us. We split a salad which was super good and an order of spring rolls which were also delicious.
