Hands down the best Chinese food in town. Probably the fastest service I've ever experienced at any restaurant in my life. We were welcomed in right away and were served both hot jasmine tea and iced water within 30 seconds of us being seated. This was the same for every customer who came in after us (about 4-5 tables). The first time my mom and I went in, we ordered the lunch special garlic eggplant and mongolian beef. The lunch specials come with a side hot & sour soup and salad (or egg roll). The main entrees were both perfect! They were honestly so delicious and I personally didn't feel like they needed any further improvement. The dressing on the salad was one of the best I've had and I seriously want to ask them for their recipe LOL. However, the hot & sour soup was way too salty that we had to add in some of our iced water. Today was our second time dining in and I ordered the lunch special general tao's chicken and my mom ordered the won ton soup (size: bowl). The general tao's chicken came out first and the moment I took a bite I told my mom it was so good. We both agreed that this restaurant makes really good food. However, it wasn't long until we were met with disappointment by their wonton soup. I really should've taken a picture but it was just mainly broth and not a lot of veggies or wontons. So much broth that all the veggies and wontons sank to the bottom and you couldn't see them. The broth was also really salty so once again we had to add water to it (which created even more broth...). The wontons were pretty small and I found it kind of odd that there were veggies like broccoli and snow peas because I'm more used to having wonton soup with veggies like bok choy. -1 star because of their wonton soup. I know that the wonton soup was a miss but that definitely doesn't mean that their other dishes aren't good. I am still definitely going to come back to this place and either stick to the previous dishes I enjoyed or order some new ones! read more

This was the first time I used the ordering option through yelp- very easy to use but made ordering very simple. With the yelp check in, I was able to get free potstickers which were very delicious. I chose the chicken ones & would get those again. They did mention that if you order through yelp to just put in the comments that you want the potstickers instead of ordering them off the appetizer list. For dinner I had the chicken fried rice with broccoli. I really liked the taste- not too overwhelming with soy sauce & very fresh. The order was completed on time and much sooner than expected. Parking was remarkably simple on a gorgeous autumn Monday evening -- less than a block walk. We were seated immediately. Menus were already on the table and water was brought quickly. Zach was our server and seemed to be the only server this evening. But he hustled and was prompt and friendly. We ordered some of our go-tos so that we could compare with other Chinese places we frequent. So, the hot-and-sour soup to start. Tasty, but not amazing. It was more sour than hot (good), and not too salty (good) but was a little light on the bits of yummy stuff I usually find in my soup. All-in-all, a decent start. Then the main entrees arrived. We ordered the twice cooked pork and spicy chicken with basil. They came out of the kitchen piping hot and rather quickly, which was good, because I was hungry. Both dishes are outstanding! Excellent portions and meat-to-veggie ratio. Both dishes had just enough kick to be spicy, but not overwhelming. Both the pork and chicken were cooked to tender perfection, and neither dish was overly sauced or salty. I have a gluten allergy so I called ahead to make sure they could accommodate, and they said they can make anything gluten free on the menu as long as it's not fried. And they use gluten free soy sauce. We had the Kung Pao Chicken, Spicy beef with basil and combo chow fun. It was all fresh, really flavorful and had a smokey charred flavor. Dragon's Pond specializes in Hunan and Mandarin cuisine. During our first visit, we ordered off of the Specials Menu. The Elite Eggplant was flavorful, expertly prepared and appropriately spicy. The Garlic Noodles were flavorful and a nice accompaniment, but we strongly recommend ordering with a veggie dish. We also recommend against the Salt & Pepper Calamari, which tasted like it was fried in older oil and had an unpleasant aftertaste. Came in on Christmas night for a 5:30 reservation for 6. The family running the restaurant was working so hard to accommodate everyone from online orders to dining in. With limited staff and kitchen space all of the workers stayed positive and polite while working as fast as they could. The food was absolutely outstanding. We drove from Dublin since all of the better Chinese restaurants in our area were closed. Having a reservation was helpful, otherwise our toddler couldn't of lasted. The service was beyond exceptional outside of the food being delicious, we will now frequent this fun new place when we want to go to Walnut Creek or are in the area. Service is great. This place is very classy. The owners are very professional. I came here with a few friends, because I wanted to try their food to possibly cater some of the dishes for my wedding. Mary, was very pleasant to speak with about the catering. The food was great. We had dragon ponds duck special, mango/beef special, and mix seafood/vegetable special. All three dishes were great. Before all this food though, when you "check in" on yelp, you get a free order of potstickers during dinner. It was actually lunch when we went there, and I kindly asked if I could have the potstickers anyway. They allowed it. :) I wanted to choose all three for my wedding, but when it came close to the wedding, I was only able to order dragon's pond duck, and mixed seafood/vegetables, along with few orders of rice. Speaking of that, it was last minute when I ordered for the wedding. It was the night before the wedding when I called. Half an hour before they closed, thank goodness. Mary was so professional and handled my order. Good thing, within the city of Walnut Creek, they were able to deliver for free at my wedding venue. From what I hear from my ushers, catering people were on time, and brought everything that I ordered from the restaurant. Definitely the place to go to order for catering. Professional. Only reason why I gave it four stars, not five, is because parking situation sucks. You would have to park on the street, which is hard to find parking (meter), but luckily there is a car garage down the street, that only cost you $1 an hour from what I remember. I just wish that this restaurant had its own parking lot, because it is so worth going to. I look forward to eating there again. read more

I was in the area for an appointment when I suddenly started craving Chinese food. Since I was around a bunch of food spots, I decided to swing by and grab food before heading home. A quick Yelp search and I found myself at Dragon's Pond. It was around 7:30pm on a Monday and I was surprised to see that it was pretty much empty! I was seated and handed a menu right away. I started off with Chicken Potstickers (free with Yelp check-in). I also ordered the Beef Fried Rice (~$9) and Shrimp with Broccoli (~$15). The chicken potstickers were a nice appetizer to start with. They were pan-fried and actually super tasty! It went well with the soy sauce and vinegar sauce on the side. The shrimp with broccoli was a bit too greasy for me but I must say the portion of shrimp and broccoli was pretty fair considering it was a ~$15 dish. The beef fried rice was a bit mediocre; it was lacking salt and basic flavoring on the beef. Although it didn't quite hit the spot like I hoped, it did last me 3 meals total, which made spending ~$25 a bit more reasonable. It was a good try but I don't think I'd return. read more

This review is for the orange chicken, General Tao, and the Wonton Soup. The chicken was mainly breading. My friends and I had debates on wether there was any chicken inside. We would find chicken in some pieces but most of it was just breading. The wonton soup had a good amount of veggies but there were also barely any wonton. We orders to two soups as take-away and each container had only two wontons in them :(. The portions were also tiny. They give you small round containers, not even the square ones.
