Recently had dinner at Drift while spending the night in Delray. We made a reservation and informed the restaurant at that time that we would be dining with a small service dog in a stroller. The reservation was for outdoors. It was VERY hot that evening so I turned to my husband as we entered and asked him if he would rather dine indoors. The woman behind the front desk said we could not dine indoors with our dog (wearing a service dog harness and identifying tag). I informed her that she was a service dog at which point she asked me what the service was that our dog performed. I told her she was not legally entitled to ask us that question (she said she was) and that I did not feel comfortable discussing it with her. Her demeanor was unpleasant. Rather than make a scene, we decided to eat outside after all. The young man who showed us to our table was very understanding as was our service person. If that had not been the case we would have left. We will not be dining there again, nor will we recommend Drift to any of our friends. read more

The atmosphere is cheerful and well done. The cheese platter is outstanding. If you ask them not to kill the pizza/ flatbread with salt, it's very good. The lobster salad is hit or miss.i've had it with wonderful chunks of lobster- other times, tiny pieces. I wish the menu was more extensive and, of course a Gappy Hour would be nice but unlikely. The Sunday brunch offers little for those of us who are not meat eaters or Mac and cheese diners. Staff is well trained, pleasant and attentive. Giving it a four - may be more than it deserves, but I love the place so I'll go with it. read more

She stopped while she had spare time seeing me ponder over their large menu, and she helped me with a recommendation of the steak power bowl, which was incredible! After an initial opening night very good experience, I noticed the food was slipping down to tourist driven mediocrity and this was disappointing as I like Drift and because its convenient beach side location is close to my house I go often. However this weeks visit to Drift was much better than the last several visits. Service was excellent and not only from our nice waitress but also from the hostess and manager. The menu is not that extensive and we tried a few of the items we never had on past visits and we were happily surprised at how good they were. An Ahi Tuna appetizer was light and mixed with fresh fruit making it perfect for a hot South Florida night. A Bone in Rib Eye Steak was perfectly cooked and no attitude was given when we asked about substituting the offered sides. A pizza though was forgettable. I've eaten here for breakfast and dinner and I've sat at the bar. For breakfast and dinner the service is terrible. They forget small and big things and for dinner it was my birthday and I made reservations for 8:30pm, we got there on time and we didn't get appetizers until 10pm... the whole situation was very bad and unfortunately the staff including the managers did communicate well or effectively. I don't think I'll ever be back for dinner but the breakfast food is so yummy that I do think I'll do that again. The ambiance is beautiful, the food is very good but the service sucks! read more

Three stars for the atmosphere. Service maybe 1-2 stars.bartenders are not friendly or Attentive . Typical hotel bartenders - they think everyone is a transient hotel guest , which we were not! We were a party of 8 early (5:30) celebrating a bday and had to ask 5x for a glass of water ?? Never mind ordering a drink . Had they been more attentive they probably would have sold twice as many cocktails than what we all ordered. That goes the same for food, we were never asked if there was anything else we would like or if everything was good? . We were more or less neglected. Too bad - not sure our local crowd will be back - Left and went across the street to a place where they actually care and actually sell food and drinks. read more

Nice restaurant near the beach in the renewed and updated hotel, now called the Opal Grand The ambiance and setting is great, the service was good and remember it's new (opened only a few months ago). The menu is ok and there is more choice after 5pm. I do question the chef who has misnamed some plates, a tuna poke with no rice is a tuna tartar and their flatbread is a pizza. The food was on point and the ambiance was great! The hubs is an exec Chef so hard to find a place he wants to return to. I can count them on one hand in our 31 years yet, this place made the list. We loved the bar area and interior overall! The service was just okay (minus a star), as spot was not full and we waited quite a while for entrees to come. Appetizers (both delish) and drinks were timely. Vibe was really great for a long-overdue date night and the location is close to our home. Highly recommend and we will be back. I made reservations for Mother's Day brunch for my Wife and Daughter, the food was good, but the service was a totally different story. Our waiter was inattentive and borderline douchy, we had to ask several times of other employees for missing items, and never got them, We had to engage a manger to bring a couple of hard to get items such as Splenda and coffee creamer. The Jamaican guy charged with overseeing and cutting the meat at the buffet couldn't have cared less, and begrudgingly did us the favor of slicing and handing over a piece of prime rib. So to sum it up, Drift is a new restaurant with good food yet still experiencing some front of the house growing pains that will take a good manager to sniff out and correct. It's understood that in this era you can expect to face lack of service here and there with "COVID" hires, it is what it is. read more

This restaurant has all the ingredients to be a 5-star establishment - but they are failing at a couple of the basics behind fine dining. First and foremost - ventilation. It is miserably hot and stuffy inside -- only to be saved by momentary breezes that save the day as the servers occasionally whisk their way to and fro between outdoor and Indoor dining. It makes zero sense that the Opal Grand hotel is so well air-conditioned -- the lobby, the rooms, the cafe, the Monkey Bar. Yet their fine dining establishment ... the gem of their hotel -- is stifling and made us end the meal 20 minutes earlier than we truly wanted because it got so uncomfortable. Management - Fix this. I know this place is still fairly new. But come on. Second - the plates. I know. Sounds silly, right? What kind of guy pokes at the plates of a restaurant? Well let me tell you - it's the guy who witnessed 3 waiters drop plates in a crashing heap on the floor in an hour long meal. Why? Because rather than doing plates like everyone else... round ones that easily stack on top of one another so that waiters can easily serve and remove plates during the course of a meal -- the Drift plates are NOT circular. They are odd-shaped .... dare I say 3-dimensional, with uneven heights of the plate. The result is that usually talented waiters can't possibly balance 4-6 plates on their arms and walk about like they are accustomed to. Management - Fix this. I know this place is still fairly new. But come on. You are over-thinking, over-complicating the service of food. Your poor waiters and waitresses deserve better. The rest of this review is 5-star. I got their special margarita to lighten the mood (well prepared and visually appealing) upon arrival. The Maine lobster bisque was very tasty and made this New England boy miss home. The wedge salad was tiny - made from the tiniest iceberg lettuce imaginable - but the dressing and bacon made it scrumptious and satisfying. For the main course, I got the bone-in veal chop Milano special, topped with arugula, Sun-dried tomatoes and red onion. The veal was juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection. My wife pretty much got the same meal, but got the pappardelle bolognese that was a mountain of thick noodles and chunky ragu. It was classic Italian preparation, well executed, and served in an immense portion -- she didn't even finish half of it. Kudos to the chefs and their teams - we enjoyed everything. Service was good (not great) but much better than other reviews we read on here. The ambience and decor is very nice, both indoor and outdoor. The menu is spectacular and made it challenging for us to make our selections. So I will eat here again and expect this to be one of the better restaurants in the area. But please - Management... fix the easy stuff!!!. read more

I have eaten at Drift several times and the food, service, setting and vibe is wonderful. I am an event planner (Peacock Premier Events) and recently did a dinner for my parents anniversary in the larger private dining room and it was a great experience. They were able to accommodate part of my family's food allergies & vegan diet and my picky eating as always. They gave me plenty of time for setup & breakdown. The staff was super helpful and a pleasure to work with** especially Carla! I'll definitely be back & look forward to planning more private dinner celebrations at drift.
