I've been coming here for about 5 months. I hesitantly gave this place a try because it's marketed to a different hair type but from several reviews decided to at least try it and at best be out only $40. I first made my appointment via telephone. It's much easier to just download the app and put in the comments which stylist you would like and if you need a longer appointment like I do because I have what's considered an "ethnic" texture. I first went to Brooklyn! So sweet and although I was nervous she put me at ease and did a great job. My next appointment request she was already booked so I got Yasmeen and I was nervous all over again. But she's just as great. Today I went and had Ashley and she's the best! Took her time and my hair came out so good! This place gets five stars because as long as you communicate your desires and don't just assume they will know every little preference then you will have a great time. The skill to price ratio is the best! I only wish they would add a few more people like me in their marketing but hey that's nothing this specific location can control. Love it!! To be completely honest if you can go to a different location do that! The people that work here are indifferent starting with the lady at the front desk. I told her I had an appointment and she didn't even greet me and I stood there waiting for her to look at me and direct me to my stylist. Then the stylist wasn't the best. Didn't even make any small talk with me nor offered anything to drink. Also when it came to choosing the style she started blow drying my hair before I decided what I wanted. Then again didn't even ask me if I wanted volume in my hair or not. I love drybar but they are overpriced and don't really care about their customers. I highly recommend blo though. Cheaper and my hair was soft and the style lasted me 3 days! read more

I have to comment on the level of service at my weekly appt. in Plano TX. I have been a member for 3+ years and travel quite a bit and use Dry Bars everywhere I go. The manger "Jules" is the utmost professional. At this salon I never wait, she jumps in and takes care of clients where needed. It even is a special treat when she has done my blowout. I have had the opportunity to watch her work as this salon can get pretty crazy at times, she manages to keep the ship steering in the right direction. Stylists are awesome, operations are terrible. We made appointments a month in advance for a family wedding, came on a Monday and had to wait 45 mins for an appointment! What's the point of making appointments?!? Worse, they don't even call to give you a heads up. Now we will miss a portion of our immediate family's wedding reception. Fan freaking tastic. read more

I arrived on time to my appt at 2:15pm and I had to wait 20 minutes to " get a chair". I was booked for appt to have the uptini service which includes a wash blowout and style only for the stylist to suggest my hair not be washed. The service was 90.00 but she didn't even wash my hair! I showed her pictures of what i wanted done. She didn't check in with me or show me a mirror to see if i liked it. When I got done and she showed me the updo it was nothing like the photos i showed her! I asked the stylist if she would take the braids down-when i did the "( manager" petite lady the stylist called " mama" ) told me that if my stylist re-did my hair it would be another 90.00! I just told her i was having my braids taken down and would not pay double the price! The stylist was very kind and took the braids down, this time she let me hold a mirror to make sure i liked it. Upon leaving and checking out the manager made a comment about my tip infront of everyone. The managers behavior was extremely unprofessional! I gave over a 10% tip! Not only would i NOT RECOMMENDED this location. I will not return to dry bar in general. You have lost my business and i will tell others not to come here too! read more

I have been using a dry bar service pretty regularly (almost every Monday) since finding out about their existence back in December. I was a little reluctant to try it out because of the reviews stating being rushed and so forth. The appointment is listed as 35 minutes online, including the wash. However, ever since my very first visit, I never felt rushed. On average, I would say that I am there for 45 minutes (sometimes close to an hour), so if you are planning on going there, plan accordingly in case you have to be somewhere right after. I never tried any other service, such as the floater, but I understand that the floater adds time to the overall appointment. Everyone has been great and I have always been happy with the results, although I prefer some stylists simply due to their fantastic hair washing technique. The results of the "mai-tai" (my favourite style) have been as varied as the stylists, but I am enjoying the variety. I am so confident about this place, that I now purchase their bar tabs. You can buy 6 or 12 at a time, which saves you $2.50 per visit and which means I can pass on these savings toward more generous tips for this hard working, talented group of stylists. Also, these bar tabs can be used anywhere, in case you decide to need to be at the Dallas location, which I have a couple of times. The service itself is very affordable. I have long hair, so it takes longer to style my hair, but the service price remains the same. Also, I must mention that the front desk people are great too. Always welcoming. I also get to enjoy a nice mimosa while being pampered. A great way to start my busy work week! read more

I recently opened a membership at Dry Bar, and twice now there's been an issue with it. It's gotten resolved both times, but frankly someone who takes payments needs to learn to pay attention. The first time, someone actually put my membership under a different person, and then charged my card twice. Once for the membership, and then again for a blow out. I caught the double charge on my bank statement, and it took the entire time I was getting my hair blown out to get it resolved, but it was taken care of, and my money was refunded. And then a few days ago as I was leaving, I found again that they had let someone use one of the blow outs on my account! I received an e-mail from the front staff saying that they had corrected the mistake, so I assume it's been resolved. Although these issues have been taken care of, there seems to be a pattern. I understand people make mistakes, but it keeps happening. I really hope it doesn't happen again...it kind of takes some of the relaxation away from the experience. Never mind the fact that it could potentially cost me money. I feel like now I constantly have to stay on top this to make sure it doesn't happen again. I don't want another issue to keep track of - that's why I come to Dry Bar in the first place; to relax and escape the day. All of the girls at the front desk are very sweet, it just seems they aren't being properly trained. Someone on high needs to be sure to give the staff any extra training they need so that this type of thing doesn't happen anymore. Additionally, the $10 "tip" reminder cards everywhere in the salon are really tacky. Like most people, I think a 20% tip is more than fair for a job well done. I don't like being made to feel like I'm not tipping enough by the establishment I'm frequenting. Dry Bar has a good thing going; but I hope they don't ruin it because of money. They need to pay the staff more, so that a 20% tip will be sufficient. And pay someone to train the receptionists so that the money is handled the right way. read more

This was my first and last time ever going to drybar. My friends and I were celebrating a bachelorette party and made reservations 1 week in advance for May 2nd. It was for 3 people to get their hair done at 6:30 PM and 2 people at 7:00 PM. 1 bridesmaid went in at 6:35 PM while the rest of us went to park the car in the parking garage. When the bridesmaid walked into drybar, there were 6 people paying so she waited in line since there was not another person to check her in. When she checked in, the lady at the desk told her that they did not have a stylist available yet and would let her know when there was one available. The rest of our group arrived at 6:42 PM, after the first bridesmaid had checked in. After several minutes, a lady came up to our group and wrote down all of our names. Then another lady came up to us and said, "Since y'all are halfway through the appointments booked at 6:30 PM, we will not be able to take all 5 of you. We will only be able to take the 2 for the 7:00 PM appointment." She then proceeded to say that she told the first bridesmaid that she gave her the option to get her hair done but the bridesmaid said she wanted to wait for the bride, when that did not occur. Then she said that we checked in at 6:45 PM when that also did not occur because we arrived at 6:35 PM and had to wait in line for several minutes, and the rest of the group arrived at 6:42 PM AFTER the first bridesmaid had checked in. Then she said they had a cut-off after 15 minutes of the appointment time meaning we had to be there at 6:45 PM, which we were there by then. But she still couldn't take us. So instead of the whole group getting their hair done, only the bride did her hair because we weren't going to have only 1 bridesmaid get their hair done and not the other 3. Not ONLY did she not allow us to get our hair done, she did absolutely NOTHING to help the situation. There was NO compensation for ruining our evening. There wasn't even a glass of water offered to our group! We asked to speak to a manager but was told she wouldn't be back until May 5th. We were treated poorly with absolutely no care for our situation. She made it sound like it was our fault. What if this was a wedding party and not a bachelorette party? What could've been done to help the situation? Absolutely nothing. The lack of customer service was appalling and I have NEVER been treated with such indifference especially with an entire group of women who were supposed to have a great time with the bride. When we paid for the bride's hair appointment, that was the FIRST time the lady apologized and said they didn't have enough stylists to take care of us. Which reaffirmed that we were lied to and because they did not care for our situation, they did nothing to help it. Our entire group was upset we were lied to but most importantly, the bride to be was upset she couldn't enjoy her appointment with us. I would never wish this on another group who are simply trying to celebrate a joyous occasion together. I'm a black girl with natural hair, very kinky. The first time I went the girl did a great job. The second time I went it seemed as though she was uncomfortable or not use to my hair texture. She did not apply product to help detangle. She did not detangle better blue drying. I felt like she was ripping my hair out. If I go again for a quick blow out, I will definitely request someone who specializes in natural hair. read more

This isn't my first time at drybar but it was my first visit at this location. When I walked in the receptionist greeted me and asked me to have a seat. She didn't ask what my name was or if I had an appt. I told her I had an appt and she said "yes Min right?" How did she know? The receptionist asked if I wanted anything to drink and politely told me that the stylist is cleaning her brushes. The stylist came up to me and said "Min?" I answered and went to her station. Told her what I wanted and went to get my hair washed. During the time my hair was being washed, water was constantly running over my ears. Annoyed and trying my best to feel relaxed.. Here comes the shampoo/conditioner and again it runs over my ears. Annoyed again but didn't say a word since she was too busy talking to other clients next to me. Yes that's right she was joining in on others' conversation and not even asked me if the water temperature was alright. At this point I'm not happy but I didn't say anything because what can they do? Walked to my seat but the stylist came a little later. I looked at others and they had a towel around their shoulder. I unfortunately didn't.. The stylist asked me what type of products do I not want. I just told her what I didn't like which was only two. She was blow drying one part of my hair for quiet a long time. The hair of course got tangled on the round brush. But she keep pulling on the brush eventually pulling my hair tight. The pain lasted about a good ten minutes after my hair was done. Someone tell me how you can't tell that the hair is tangled on the brush? Let me be frank here, I honestly felt a little bit of discrimination because when I saw the other clients they got a totally different treatment. When I went to the other location at North Park it was a whole lot better! The stylist was so nice and treated me well. She even explained what products she used for my hair not like the stylist here. I asked not to use two products but the stylist didn't put anything to hold the curls. This time I said something and requested for something to hold the curls. At the end I left a pretty low tip for the awful service. On the bright side my curls are still holding in.. i really like this place! it's such a cute idea, and I like that they have a look-book so you can actually see what your hair will potentially look like. I haven't had anything but the blowouts, so no shots or anything, but I've loved what I've gotten so far. It holds well and holds for a few days. :) My only complaints are that the first time, the girl was very rough with my hair and it was tangly.. the conversation seemed forced. This time there was little to none at all conversation. Not a huge deal though, as they aren't really doing anything life-changing to your hair or spending more than an hour on it. My hair is fried because of this & I have informed anyone that wil listen. I could hear the flat iron sizzling everytime she went over my hair. Worst experience of my life. Just to clarify this review is mainly for how my hair turned out... This dry bar location is just as cute, and as well groomed as the others. Attentive staff, great hours, friendly stylists. I loved my green tea and the ability to watch a movie while my hair was being done. Now onto the bad... When you pay $40 for someone to wash and style your hair, you want to walk out feeling fab. Unfortunately this did not happen today. My stylist was sweet and we vibed as human beings but she did not get my hair. I think she took one look at my ethnic hair and thought...PRODUCT! So of course she asked me if I would like product in my hair, and I said of course. Who doesn't want heat protectant, smoothing oil, etc. Holy smokes, she whips out 5-6 bottles and goes to town adding cream after serum after oil. After this goop was applied to my once clean hair she styled it. I could tell the concoction was messing with my hair because when I touched it, it was heavy and crunchy and stiff. I am half Indian, so while my hair is wavy, it likes to straighten out. Add to that, I religiously do Brazilian blowouts every 3 months, and you've got fairly smooth ethnic hair that presents wavier than it styles. Which she should have recognized when she washed my hair. So now my hair is this poofy, dry, weighed down, did I mention chemically dehydrated mess that I will now have to wash tomorrow! After all this, I can't even prolong my blowout because of how much darn product is in it. Dry bar -- please train your staff on recognizing and styling different hair textures. I've had such great experiences with you in San Francisco, and now I don't know if I'd want to come back. :/ read more

I wish Drybar would treat their employees with respect and give them a commission off of every blowout. Stop rushing the stylist to blowout the clients within 20 minutes. The tools not getting cleaned properly is just disgusting. The stylist cannot possibly have enough time to clean hair clips, nozzles of blow dryers, and brushes. Get it together!!! This goes back to Alli Webb. Overworked and overpaid. And no, I have never worked for Drybar. I have read numerous articles about their class action lawsuit. Had my first blowout today at Drybar-Plano and Sarah was amazing! Let me start by saying that I am VERY particular about my hair. For the last few years, I have had the same hairdresser until.....I moved to the lovely state of Texas. I had come to terms that I would just have to care for my own hair and travel back home for my major hair issues. I had researched drybar and loved that lots of women of African American descent had raved about their experience. I was still hesitant to try it out but I had no energy to wash and straighten my hair (it's a 2 hour process when I do it myself). Upon calling to book my appointment, I was shocked that I wasn't directed to the actual salon. I was instead routed to a call center that schedules all appointments for all the locations. This was a bit frustrating because I was hoping to speak to someone about my hair issues and ensure that they could help me. I took a leap of faith though and had her note that I would need someone familiar and comfortable with curly ethnic hair. I arrived early and was offered a drink- I of course opted for the mimosa. I waited a few minutes then was lead back for a wash by Sarah. I explained my hair and what I wanted. The wash was so relaxing. Sarah had no trouble getting her fingers in my curly mess and washing my troubles away. After the wash I was lead up front where the real magic happened. After the blow dry, I requested that she straighten my curly roots. She obliged. After the straightening, she curled my hair and applied some products that smelled amazing. I nearly cried when I saw the end result and she did such an amazing job getting my roots straight. Overall the experience was so relaxing. Plus there was a TV in front of me playing The Devil Wear Prada so I was able to sit back, relax and enjoy the process. Sarah you have officially stolen my heart. I will definitely return! read more

I went to Dallas for a black-tie wedding over Labor Day weekend. I was skeptical to come here for an up-do after reading all of the negative Yelp reviews about this particular location, but my salon is closed on Sundays and I was desperate to have my hair done for this wedding. The salon itself it small but clean, full of light, and a nice place to relax and watch a chick-flick. My up-do simply turned out OK. I needed it to last all night, and it began to fall after 3 hours - not to mention that the style wasn't AT ALL what I asked for. I wanted a low side-bun, and instead was given a traditional up-do that was slicked back and centered directly and precisely in the middle of the back of my head. It looked really pretty if you were only looking at my hair, but it didn't fit my face shape and made me look like I had multiple chins - which I don't!!! All in all, although the girl doing my hair was really sweet, she was a few years younger than me (and I'm only 25) which made me think she lacks experience. I did enjoy the small amount of time that I got to relax while my hair was being done, but I wasn't impressed with the style and definitely don't think it was worth the money I paid for it. read more

I have been to DryBar a few times and each time I go I keep telling myself to give the place another chance. I like that it's close to home, has great hours and has a straight fee regardless of hair type. What bothers me is the inconsistent service. Out of the handful of times I have been there I've only received one great blow out and the rest were good for a couple of hours and then my hair would fall and look flat. The front desk staff also seems hit or miss. Some have not been the most welcoming and often times my drink is forgotten until I am midway through my service. The two staff members that have done a great blow out for me were Jesse (male) and Veronica. I will return to this place only if I can't get an appointment for a blow dry at my regular salon. read more

So let me preface by saying that this one star is not being given because i has one bad experience there, in fact i have had several issues with this dry bar location. My first visit in the fall was awful. I'm not sure if my stylist was new or just lazy. When he washed my hair he didn't not even wash the back of my head, literally just the top. He blow dryed my hair with a paddle brush instead of a round brush, leaving it flat and def not at all like what a dry bar blow out should be. And to top it all off, because he just didn't wash the back of my hair it was still so dirty that when the blow out was finished i could feel soap residue in my hair. I had to go home and wash it again. The company did redeem themselves and offered me a complementary blow out with one of their senior stylists, which was amazing btw, but she was not a regularly scheduled stylist so unfortunately that was a one time thing. I decided to try dry bar Plano a few more times, and was never even remotely impressed with the results. But the final straw was today, when i had a 12:15 scheduled. I showed up only to be told that my appointment didn't exist. So needless to say i give up on dry bar. If i knew that i would be getting a quality blow out that this scheduling snafu ready wouldn't be a big deal, but at this point I'd rather go anywhere else. read more

Despite each tiny section of hair getting a soaking spray-down of hair spray, my curls didn't hold up for more than a couple of hours. I really expected to have big, Dallas hair for my friend's wedding, because my humid Houston blowouts look good for days. Maybe the products Drybar uses just don't cut it, but the $35 doesn't seem worth it. I had to recurl several pieces before going to the ceremony. Kind of a bummer. read more

I love getting my hair done and have been to this location twice. The hairstylists were friendly and professional but I was disappointed that my hair, once I left, didn't last but 2 hours and this happened both times I went... that could just be my hair, but that's the whole point of getting it done by professionals, to make it look good all day hopefully. Anyway, drybar's customer service over the phone and dealing with the managers is horrific. I was supposed to talk with a manager about an issue I had and they never called me back. I called several times over a period of 2 weeks and nada. So I won't be giving drybar any more of my Business. read more

I went to Drybar this past weekend with a friend who had been there before to get a blow-out before another friend's wedding. I had heard great things and had high expectations of the experience. The decor was amazing, with good music and a chick flick playing, and the staff was overall very friendly and helpful. That being said, my stylist was HORRENDOUS. I got the Southern Comfort (when in Texas, right?) and a floater. The stylist forgot the towel around my neck during my wash, so laying in the sink was extremely uncomfortable. My scalp massage included hair pulling and tangling (and I have the least-tender scalp of anyone I know). The stylist asked zero questions while she blew me out and teased up my hair, and when she turned me around to give my final approval, she had made zero effort to blend in the back-combing with the rest of my hair. I have naturally wavy hair, which also looked very frizzy and not sleek like it usually does when I get a blow out. I looked completely unfinished as she was ready to send me on my way. She could obviously tell I was unhappy with my look, but provided zero suggestions as to how she could fix the styling to please me. I ended up going home and redoing my hair myself because I was so frustated with my stylist's inability to offer any kind of resolution. I would recommend this for someone who maybe wanted to get a blow out for a fun girls night out or laid-back date, but definitely don't waste your time for a special event. read more

I came home from University w/o a hair appt. as all salons in the area were booked. The ladies at drybar were so kind and squeezed me in early Wednesday morning. I was nervous to go to a blowout bar as I have thick & curly hair. Ashley was my stylist w/ one other girl assisting to quicken the blow drying process. Ashley was wonderful! Very sweet and attentive, and she made jokes and small talk with me the entire time. I dislike impersonal stylists, so Ashley was a treat. It seemed as if everyone was doubting her ability to work with my "ethnic" hair as they kept asking her if she wanted help. I felt bad for her, but she required no help and did an okay job. My hair did not turn out as great as I would have liked. Ashley didn't really straighten my roots, but I suppose she's not used to working with my hair type. The ambience at the salon was great, but my style could have been less "poofy". Don't get me wrong- I still got compliments, however it wasn't quite up to my standards. I'll give drybar another try though, I may even ask my parents for a membership. read more

I have to admit, the only reason I tried this place was because I had a gift certificate. My hair stylist only charged me $20 to style my hair, and it would have probably looked just as good- I mean this in no offense to the staff at the DryBar because they ALL are talented. HOWEVER, I will ditch my hair person for this place. I have not one con, which is weird because I am okay with admitting that I am a picky person. I like the very simplistic yet chic decor- I love the vibrant splashes of color, you can schedule your appt online, they give you a complementary beverage, you get treated like royalty, service is impeccable, my hair looked amazing and I received tons of compliments (thank you Bonnie). Customer service is everything and the DryBar in Plano has mastered that. Anybody is somebody here, and everybody likes to feel like that every now and then. read more

Making the appointment was very easy and convenient. My stylist did a phenomenal job and styled my hair exactly like the picture I showed her. However, I wish it lasted longer. My hair flattened and lost its curls within 2 hours of leaving the salon...I'm not sure if I would use this place for curling hair...maybe just a straight blow out or an uptini. This is the 4th time I've gone there and I have not liked my hair.. I keep trying it but have found it totally unsatisfying and a waste of money. I have medium long hair and asked for a curled tousled look which they advertise. My stylist tried twice then called some else to do my hair.. she tried and I just was ready to leave.
