I am a huge fan of Dry Bar. For the past six years or so I have gone to the Del Mar, CA location at least once a week unless I'm out of town in which case I always try to find a Dry Bar in whichever city I am in. I have therefore been to many locations nationwide. There's always music and a great vibe at every location. But this location has such EXTREMELY blaring loud music it is deafening, overbearing, obnoxious and uncomfortable. I've been to concerts and clubs that are not this loud. Everyone has to scream to check in, and say what you want for your hairstyle. I did not enjoy being in this store because it's just wayyy too loud. If any of the other Dry Bars were this so eardrum bursting loud I'd never go into a store. I made an appointment online several days ago for me and my daughter. Our appointment was at 11.30am. So far they are 20 minutes late thereby subjecting us to extra time in this headache creating, booming, ear splitting environment. I hope the hairdressers do a good job. Will update after my appointment is finished but so far I am very unimpressed with this location. UPDATE 12.00pm. Half an hour late so far. Now they are saying it will be another half hour making them an hour late for our appointments at least. And we wouldn't know this if we didn't ask. Disgusting customer service. Not what I've experienced at other Dry Bars. The receptionist seemed annoyed that I would dare to ask how much longer. Absolutely no respect for people's time. The very least they could have done was told us they were running an hour late when we checked in. We are leaving. Alli Webb should be ashamed of this location. Fabulous hair is so easy to achieve. Unless you're me, then it's not. Maybe I'm just helpless or plain lazy to deal with my stick straight Asian hair, I leave it to the pros to give me the amazing results I want for a night out on town -- with volume and soft curls. Alive, bouncy and touchable, I feel like pretty woman Julia Roberts walking down the street. (post makeover version!) My only gripe is they usually run late with appointments, so prepare to hang out for an extra 10 - 15mins. I've been to the Fillmore location as well and both places have NEVER been on time. Ever since discovering Drybar in Honolulu, I've fallen in love with their pampering experience. While in vacation in San Francisco I decided to book an appointment to schedule some much needed "me time." It was super easy to book on the Drybar app and I loved being able to get an appointment without having to be on hold or talk to a receptionist. This location is located right by Union Square and is always busy. You definitely need to schedule an appointment ahead of time especially during peak hours after work. Compared to the Drybar in my hometown, this location was definitely not as new or luxurious but still followed to same Drybar standards with products and styles. My stylist was really nice but I had to ask him to grab me a drink, whereas normally I'd be greeted with a complimentary beverage. It might seem like something small, but feeling completely taken of is really what makes you feel pampered. I loved my hair, the smell of the products and will return again for a blowout. I always feel like I can conquer the world afterwards and it's an easy way to love myself more. read more

This is a tough review because I have good experiences and bad. The last visit was rough. I felt like the stylist just went on autopilot and didn't give my cut a thought. He completely used the wrong barrel size for my cut to accomplish the look from the menu. I have styled hair before.... And if I have to ask someone to constantly fix something... it's not worth the cost. I do enjoy getting hair styled for a pampering which is why I go to dry bar. I have super curly hair (mixed black and Mexican) so in my appointment notes I asked to have someone experienced in my hair texture. The girl put so much hairspray on my hair I couldn't even run my fingers through it. Also burned THE HELL out of my hair, I could smell it. Oh my god I wanted to cry, I got my hair done for my bday thinking once the curls fell I could restyle it straight.. NOPE I can't even brush my hair, it's so so stiff I'm gonna have to wash my hair and try and straighten it myself. For $70?? What a joke, my stylist who cuts my hair can blow it out in 15 mins.. If you have curly hair don't come here, or request someone with similar hair texture to yours. That's the last time I let someone with straight hair do my hair. read more

Spacious and chic, I'm very excited for this new drybar location to hit the city. I've been a big fan of drybar since they've opened in Burlingame and this SF location looks just as inviting. Too bad I'm no longer working in the fidi, but I can totally see all the fabulous ladies + gents getting their hair done before/after work. It's the perfect way to get all dolled up before going out and for only $40, not bad at all! I got to preview this location before it's official grand opening next week (12/4/13) and I'm already in love. read more

Very unreliable. They are either very late or they cancel very close to your appointment. They are the worst.

Had a horrible experience here. Parking is impossible in the area so we had to park in a garage (which isn't cheap) and when we showed up on time for our appointment we were told that the stylist was running late and we'd get a call back "soon". Checked back in with the receptionist thirty minutes later and they said the stylist was "basically ready" which didn't give me a clear indicator on whether they were ready for me or not anyways. Ended up cancelling when I never got a call back on when the stylist would be ready. Don't go here, there's a ton of other salons nearby. read more

Customer service with a poor attitude and poor communication skills (difficulty understanding English? On top of an expectation that people know the names of their styles? Like, as if Cosmo, muy Thai or half-tini is something people would know by heart. The clarification questions were met with exasperated attitude) and an app with misleading or missing information. They will charge you for much less time than the app says the appointment will take. Unresponsive to calls and they have hidden policies. No guarantee on the skill of the hair stylist either (could not answer basic consultation questions about hair style and technique, didn't seem to know of popular and well known options on YouTube used to tease and create volume in hair dos ). I should have done my friend's hair myself, instead my friend gets subjected to their visible irritation and the front desks repeated attempts to browbeat an explanation about why we should be happy with their lack of service. read more

I've been to this location a few times. The ladies are friendly but most have no idea what they're doing. My first few sessions were ok, but the last two were complete disasters, and sadly I'm scared to give them another try. My most recent visit sent me off with hair that was still partially damp, wavy, and VERY frizzy.. I was pretty upset because I had an event I was going to and literally had to re-do my hair when I got home. I also paid full price for the mess. I really really want this location to improve- I need a drybar in SF- but they need to actually train people on the floor and make sure there's more supervision. read more

This place is two for two with running super late on me... They do a decent job but for $45 plus tip, I think the staff should be friendlier, they should run on time or at least apologize if they are not running on time, and ideally provide a consistent, quality experience every time. My most recent visit was underwhelming... the actual blowout was fine, but definitely nothing special that I'd rush back for. If San Francisco had more competition with blow dry bars, I'd absolutely give a Drybar competitor a shot... I actually may do that if I have time for a blow out in the future. EXTRA STAR FOR MANAGEMENT See, I'm still not too happy with my experience but I am impressed with management who asked for my contact details and want to look into this. That worth an extra star. While I was in San Francisco before meetings I caught a glimpse of myself in a window: my hair didn't look good after getting up at 4 to catch the early flight. If my hair doesn't feel good, it shows in everything.... so I looked for a salon to wash and blow dry my hair. And then my eye caught the words "Dry Bar." Price was steep at $47 I wasn't sure because that's a lot of money to spend on a wash and dry!! But, I felt aweful about my hair and decided to go for it. I was standing there, was told they could help me. So the girl behind the counter asked for my name. Then my phone number and email, so I explained I don't live in SF and didn't really feel like disclosing all that info. Her answer was that otherwise they could not help me. Really? OK, so I provided the info. Reluctantly but ok. Off we go.... to the washing department. No towel around the shoulders nor any protection so your outfit doesn't get wet. No asking of the water temperature was ok. I had to ask the girl if she please could be a little less rough, my upcoming headache was turning into a headache. After a minimal wash we moved on to the magical area where the yellow blow dryers would turn my hair into something gorgeous... The temperature of the blow dryer was so high it burned my ear twice. After 10 minutes it was done. I looked in the mirror and wasn't impressed. True: I don't have long hair, it's half long but this wasn't a blow dry worth $47. I'm thinking when your hair is long and lush, it's probably worth it. I walked out feeling I wasted money. read more

I didn't mind though, because my stylist, Ethan more than made up for it. He did a great job shampooing and styling my hair. I felt he really took his time and offered some great tips. Wish I had read the reviews before coming. Horrible customer service; arrived early for my appointment, just needed a blow-dry (washed and treated my hair at home). I paid $10 parking and drove 25 min to be embarrassed in front of everybody and be kicked out because my hair was damp and they couldn't take me. I never felt so embarrassed trying to obtain a service--literally left tearing up--that it's not cheap. It ruined my day and I will never come back to this place. read more

Disappointed. I had an appointment for an uptini and told the stylist several times that my hair needed to hold the style for an event I was attending that evening. My hair had already been washed and blow dried the previous day. When she showed me the finished product I asked her to make the curls tighter so that they wouldn't fall flat, again referencing my event that evening. Instead of making the curls tighter she made waves and sprayed them with more hairspray. I again asked for tighter curls and she said "well they're just going to fall flat anyway since your hair is long" and added more hairspray. Within 5 minutes of me leaving, my hair was flat. Thankfully I packed my flat iron and redid the curls myself. I was seen within 15 minutes of my appointment time which is great. I wasn't offered any beverages but the receptionist and stylist were pleasant. I also wasn't charged the full uptini price due to my dissatisfaction. Roberto is amazing!! He blow dryed and styled my hair with beautiful curls that lasted all day, night and the next day.He has a lot of experience and taught me great tips to hold the curls. Bonus-has a great personality too ! I will def book with him again! Monica, store manager was also great! She provided awesome customer service and made sure everything was running smoothly. The admin/receptionist was also fabulous! She checked me in quickly and took care of me! This is one of the best dry bars I've been too! MUST GO! Yikes Drybar! What happened??I was a regular here for years. Cut to the pandemic and no salons for me. I went back last week and scheduled a blowout. Walking in I noticed how filthy the location is. Dirty stations and yikes the shampoo area! Filthy stained chairs. The shampoo itself sub par. The girl didn't even rub the shampoo in. She put it on and rinsed immediately. The towel she used stunk. Her station was dusty. She tugged my already fine hair way too much. I saw clumps of my hair in her brush. She did not fully dry my hair. I left with damp hair that stunk like those dirty towels. I was livid. I will never go back. There are way more blowout places that are clean and have good stylists. read more

I left very unhappy and never got my blow dry. I do not understand why this store did not call me and tell me to come later or ask me if I was able to come later. Very easy to book an appointment here, and it's pretty apparent why that's the case. I have a wedding tomorrow and my curly hair typically doesn't cooperate, so I decided to try something new. I could have tried curling my hair myself and it very likely would have turned out better for less than the $91 I spent here. It's been about 2 hours since I left and I'm so nervous about what the current mess on my head is going to look like tomorrow. One huge warning: they do not honor the time you made your appointment. My appointment was at 10:15 am and they seated me at 10:35. I was so upset and almost crying when the stylist saw me. I'm not sure why they were so late in seating me-- I saw 4 women leave before they seated me so there were 4 open seats right? Very disappointing. The receptionist seated me probably because she saw I was on the verge of tears. I'm very unhappy with this part of the experience. One huge pro: the stylist I had, Jessica, was amazing!! She asked what time I had to leave and did everything to make sure I got out the door on time. This woman is amazing! She also made me feel so much better! Props for emotional intelligence. One star more than the minimum because they did fine in the past... Made an appointment here online recently, weeks in advance. When I called to confirm the week of, the girl on the other end of the phone was confused, put me on hold for a long time, and eventually told me that my appointment did not exist! Despite me having an email confirmation, she told me she had to cancel me because not enough stylists were scheduled to work that day to accommodate me. WTH!!! I had been waiting for this for WEEKS! Thankfully I was able to get an appointment with a local place last minute, at a premium, so I didn't have to show up to the bachelorette party looking like a mess. It was just utterly unacceptable for a salon like Drybar to take an appointment, confirm it, only to cancel on me last minute. If I had not called, would I show up to the appointment and be told that they couldn't do my hair? :( read more

I love love love this Salon! I recently started going to get my hair touched up by Destiny and let me tell you, it was one of my best experiences getting my hair done. She made me feel comfortable, happy & understood when it came to what I wanted with my hair. It was very clean & the location of the salon was great. 10/10 would recommend Destiny, her work was great. Will definitely be coming back soon for my hair fix. read more

I have thick wavy hair that's a huge pain to manage and Amber gets it right every time. If I have the time I can do my hair pretty well on my own and get annoyed when I pay for a blowout and walk away feeling like I could have done it better myself. Amber is way faster and better than I am so I always feel like the visit is worthwhile. For whatever reason Drybar doesn't allow you to select your stylist online so you have to call in and specifically request her or whoever you'd like. Thanks Amber! read more

Dry Bar provides a convenient and affordable service, but I cannot recommend it to women of color with curly hair. I called ahead of time to make sure I would be in good hands, and I was assured it would be fine. This was a particularly important appointment for me because I was headed straight to the airport to my bachelorette party. I wanted to look good for the weekend and not have to worry about my hair, but within a few hours my hair was starting to frizz and curl. I think the problem comes down to the fact that the heat tools are not as strong as what you would find at a black salon, and stylists aren't trained to work with black people's hair. I give the experience 2 stars instead of 1 because my appointment was on time and my stylist was super sweet. I would go see her again at a different salon that's set up to do natural curly hair. read more

They're frequently very behind / late with their Friday and weekend appointments, they rush you through the appointment (painfully pulling on my thick, wavy hair when a little patience is all that's needed). Despite showing them what I want out of their picture album, the result inevitably bears no resemblance - just whatever random style they feel like doing that day. And even that style is generally poorly executed. Go somewhere else. read more

I met the loveliest of ladies - Tanesha Ireland (T.I.) at the front desk, and Fukayna as my stylist. T.I. was lovely to chat with, and her energy was AMAZING! I love exactly that when I'm greeted! My stylist Fukayna knew exactly what style would suit me, and she was spot on! The Southern Comfort was exactly what I was looking for! I left looking and feeling like a queen ready to rock my meetings! If ever I'm back in SF, I will absolutely return to this DryBar, and these fun and lovely ladies! read more
