Finally got to try Duck donuts today! After a disappointing lunch from Cafe Zupas, I thought a sweet treat would be nice. This place is so fun and colorful. I love how they have all these rubber duckies everywhere! It adds such a fun tone to the venue. They also have the pictures of donuts on display which was nice. I'm a visual eater so the pictures really helped me decide on which donut to get. After looking over everything, we decided on the pumpkin chocolate chip. The gal that helped us was nice. I wish she would have engaged with us instead of standing at the register. It made us feel rushed. It was our first time there so she could have told us the popular donuts, her favorite ones or the new seasonal. I'm huge on customer service and this was a flop for me. The donut came out in the cutest box. It was warm. I love the crunchy exterior and soft interior. The pumpkin was very noticeable but not overwhelming. The chocolate chips were nicely scattered all over the donut. They are pretty dense so I only had a couple bites. CLOSING FOR GOOD ON SUNDAY, MARCH 29 at 2:00 p.m. This is a franchise location and the local franchisees put their hearts and souls into this business. I don't know the reason for their decision to close, but I imagine the lousy parking lot set up at this cusp of Meridian's The Village had something to do with it. Plus rents for The Village store fronts is through the roof and rising. And maybe competition from the plethora of other donut places. Then again, Guru donuts just closed their Eagle location. So maybe the donut eating audience is not willing to pay their dough for the higher quality donuts. Then again, Scottie's donuts, the new local darling of the donut set, is scheduled to open soon in Meridian in the space that was formerly The Empanada Club. (There was a business I was sorry to see go but the owners were ready to retire.) So maybe it is just the economics of this location that leads Duck to depart. Hands down the best donut in Meridian, Eagle and Boise area. Each donut is hand prepared per order. The batter is good and it stayed soft even the day after. So guaranteed that the donut you ordered has not been sitting in the shelf because you'll see it come out of the fryer before they make it for you. The batter is not terribly sweet which I imagined will be just as good plain as it is all dressed up with toppings. The beauty of the donut is that it balances the perfect amount of sweetness with whatever toppings you choose. I bought a dozen at $20 which comes out to about $1.66 each donut plus tax. A lot cheaper than Krispy Kreme but miles better. I believe each donut is $2.50 if you buy by itself. The store is clean and the staff I've met are all quite friendly. I've been coming every day since I discovered it. Can't believe I've lived in Eagle and not tried this before. I won't be going back to Mojo's or Krispy Kreme for donuts anymore since this is truly so much better and fresher. The only way to eat donut is the way these guys make it. Their restroom is very clean but they don't have toilet seat liners. I had to use a lot of toilet tissue paper to cover the lid. So I'm hoping the staff I spoke to, will notify the owners that they need to provide toilet seat liners for staff and customers. They are open until 9 pm on Friday and Saturday. They are open everyday so that makes it nice since most places here in Idaho are close on Sunday. I'll definitely come back. read more

I've "heard" of this company before and when I saw it, I thought I'd give it a try. The donuts are smaller in size then the average donut. They are made fresh to order. We ordered three donuts (cookies and cream, strawberry sprinkles, and a chocolate frosted). We also ordered a breakfast sandwich with egg cheese and bacon. The lady asked us if we wanted it on a donut or on bread. We got it on bread. The breakfast sandwich was okay. Nothing too special about it. I am not a huge donut fan but we picked up some of these today and I was very pleasantly surprised. Inside is very clean and modern with great ambiance for a donut shop. Staff was also very friendly and answered all the questions we had with smiling faces. We decided on a mix 6 pack, bacon in the sun and coconut island bliss. Have to say these were pretty good for donuts lol as I mentioned not the biggest fan of them , but for what they are this is one donut I would repeat. My wife in the other hand loved them! I'd say this is one of the best donut shops I have ever tried. The donuts are made fresh by request. They have a good variety of options, and as an ice cream lover, I appreciate that they also have sundaes and milkshakes. All the flavors of donuts I have tried have all been good. The donuts are OUTSTANDING when you eat them right after they're made. The sundaes are great, too. Wasn't entirely sure if a donut and ice cream combo would taste the best, but it definitely does. I have yet to try their milkshakes, but I fully plan to. The service is always good and the staff is always friendly. They've never messed up an order. But the doughnuts are all exactly the same underlying flavor and texture, therefore, and they have no "chew", they just fall apart in your mouth. I have a dark secret -- I dislike fresh doughnuts. The texture improves over time I feel. You get a nice crust and the crumb dries out a bit and it provides a better bite. I tried these a few hours after purchase and they were still just okay, Maybe just not my thing. It's fun that someone is trying a new experience in doughnuts, and this clearly is a winning formula.
