With so many people waiting to get a drink, this line was moving efficiently. Don't forget to tip the bartenders too! Some days these guys work it themselves with no help. I got a Duff Beer (always solid) along with a Flaming Moe for my daughter. Good to know the Flaming Moe is non-alcoholic which is perfect for the kiddos! The bartender did say you could buy a shot separately to put in it but would be more than the cost of the drink. I'll have to try that next time instead of the beer! The guy was very helpful and friendly and guided us through our options since they were out of the one we wanted which is why they lose a star. He said that they hadn't had the dark beer for months now so I don't understand why not just take it off the menu. The other reason is because there aren't enough shaded spots to sit at. I tried a Duff beer here more for the atmosphere than anything else. The Duff beer wasn't bad at all, rather refreshing on a hot day. You can get a disposable cup for $12 or pay an additional $2 and get the souvenir Duff cup. I got the souvenier cup. They only allow 1 alcoholic beverage per ID so I could not get my hubby's beer since I didn't have his ID. During lunch peak hour there is very limited seating. It seems like they are very short on available seating since the seating area is shared by the pizza place, the brewery, the taco shop and pretty much anyone else that decides to come and sit there. They have the Simpsons show playing on various T.V.s and you can appreciate the decor. I would try to visit here before or after lunch time to make it an enjoyable experience. read more

Duff Beer is the alcoholic beverage of choice in Springfield, USA. In the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park I saw people enthused about this beer as they were with Butterbeer in Harry Potter World. Duff Brewery is located inside the beer garden that houses the common dining space for Luigi's Pizza and Bumblebee Man's Taco Truck. The entrance to the beer garden is decorated with the Seven Duffs, the mascot of Duff Beer and another cool photo-op. Among the three options there isn't much in the way of seating yet while the No1DP was buying lunch from Luigi's I managed to snag two seats at the bar of Duff Brewery. You have to be over 21 to sit at the bar itself and like all areas of the park, strictly enforce carding people. For multiple orders, 1 card equals one drink so you can't order a round for everyone in your party unless everyone presents ID. For non-Duff offerings there are a few brands of real-world beer sold such as Blue Moon. Additionally there are alcoholic frozen margaritas sold in a few flavors. Should you want a more traditional alcoholic beer they are a full bar and can make basic drinks. Three types of Duff beer are available. - Duff (American-style amber lager, flavor of caramel and roasted malt) - Duff Lite (Traditional Pilsner, smooth and refreshing) - Duff Dry (Toasted dark ale, full flavored, smooth & silky quality. Only available in bottle) I purchased a regular Duff to stake my claim at the bar seats. I took a few sips of it and thought it was quite bitter. For a non-IPA it's quite bitter but this may be due to the malt being too roasted to my liking. The No1DP got me a Duff Lite in a souvenir pilsner glass and found it smooth and refreshing. Considering it was a hot day and we were stuffing all sorts of hearty theme park food it was nice to be able to sip on a light beer! My only suggestion is that there should be a way to offer tasters of the three beers so more people can taste the full lineup of Duff Beer. Though the beverage itself is 3-star worthy, one of the managers noticed that I didn't finish my Duff beer. I told her my reason for purchasing the beer and she promptly replaced my beer with 2 qualities of higher-quality bottled water. This was such a good gesture and the bottled water ended up being much more useful during our visit. read more

Great chill spot! I love this place for good drinks and just to chill out. There's a taco bus too across from it to grab a bit to eat. It's all Simpsons themed and very fun and interactive in the sense of the bar. There are little beer machine dispensers that's are decorated with the duff logo. Love that. As for the service lines tend to get very long so know what you want for quick service I would recommend doing a taste test because the drink I got that was seasonal was nasty, the bartender did get an attitude when I didn't want it anymore when I had asked her beforehand which drink is good and sweeter as I don't drink that often and wanted something where I don't notice the bitter taste of alcohol. The Duff Brewery Beer Garden is a great place to wind down, relax, and grab a bite to eat in between your excursions at Universal Studios Hollywood. Because there's just a general lack of sufficient seating due to the increased popularity of the park with the addition of Harry Potter World, you may need to be proactive in finding a table. There's a covered seating area and an open seating area. Inside the covered seating area, there are a few rows of tables where you can sit and watch past episodes of The Simpsons playing on one of the many televisions mounted above the tables. Because the tables are pretty long, if you're part of a smaller group, please don't take up the whole table. If there's no seating in the covered area, there are several small round tables outside and a few seats at the bar. You can grab some nachos or tacos at Bumblebee Man's Taco Truck, or you can snag a pretzel and other snacks at the bar. A benefit of going to the taco truck or bar is the short wait time; many of the other restaurants can quite possibly see lines out the door. In comparison to the other places to eat at Universal Studios, I'd have to say that this is probably one of the most convenient places to order food and eat, and the Simpsons reruns are just icing on the cake. This five stars is for not having to wait in a 45 minute line and being able to find seating relatively quickly with decent theme park food prices. read more

Duff Brewery is basically an outdoor biergarten in the middle of the Simpsons portion of Universal Studios Hollywood. There is an interior restaurant and an exterior beer bar selling the namesake Duff Beer. Seating is rather plentiful, but is also shared with the taco truck and is very popular. Universal contracts out with a brewer to create a special Duff Beer for the park. I sampled the regular Duff and was somewhat impressed, and not just by the large 24oz serving. It is similar to a dark pilsner lager, reminiscent of a German dunkel. They have Duff Light and Blue Moon, and a non-alcoholic Flaming Moe. Duff is a nice break in the afternoon, but is very popular and crowded. You are allowed to walk around with your drink, and this makes a great stop before hitting the long line for the Studio Tour. read more

Springfield in general deserves 5 stars. The work they did with that amount of space is incredible. It's really emersive and you have so much to look at and so may options for food and drinks. The brewery looks great and clean. The mounted TV displays classic Simpsons clips in which Duff Beer plays a part. This makes it very nostalgic. There are limited beer choices. Duff, Duff Lite, and the Flaming Moe. It would be ideal to be able to offer more choices since micro-brewing is so popular now but I understand that the big corporate breweries have the first dibs on amusement parks. Didn't opt for the souvenir cup and we both thought that the quantity was more than fair for theme park pricing and the quality of the beer was surprisingly tasty! If they had a wider selection and was located outside of the park more local to home, we would definitely come back more often! I got the standard Duff beer in a keeper cup. It was okay, but not great. The $14+change and $2 tip was more than I'd ever pay for a beer but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet when you're on vacation! The bartender (I feel terrible for not remembering her name) was what earned them the 4 stars. She was a doll! I wanted to put her in my pocket, fly her back to Portland, and put her behind the counter of my local bar! My 12 year old was cooking in the 100 degree sun and, while he couldn't belly up to the bar with me, she let him sit on the ground, between the stools, against the bar face to stay cool. He was more than happy to hide down there against the cool wall of the bar! I quickly got my beer and we headed for a ride. Try the beer. Get the cup. Give it to your Simpsons obsessed brother as I am going to. You'll get points for life! And you'll be glad you met such an awesome lady. You'll know her is you see her.
