After much consideration about where we should experience wings in Buffalo, NY, we selected this Duff's location. Absolutely no regrets. We did 20 wings, half medium and half sweet cajun. Neither my husband or I found the medium particularly spicy and felt it was comparable to a standard wing, heat-wise. Wings were crispy, hot, and impossible to stop eating, though. We found that having the two flavors was a nice complement to each other to switch things up. I would also say they were meatier than what I was accustomed to eating. This was one of the most disrespectful experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. Duff's made it very clear they do not welcome anyone who wants to celebrate anything. We were a group of four family members there for my sister's birthday. The food was bad, with terrible wings, but what truly shocked us was how we were treated the moment we mentioned we were there for a celebration. I told our server that my husband had stepped out to get a slice of cake to surprise my sister. Instead of showing even a basic level of courtesy or professionalism, she immediately said, "We close in 10 minutes," dropped the check at the table, and walked away without another word. There was no consideration, no flexibility, and absolutely no respect for the fact that we had just finished a 17-hour road trip to be there together as a family. When my husband came back with the cake, she returned only to say the restaurant was already closed and all tables had been cleaned. At the same time, another large group was still seated, eating and talking without being rushed. I explained how unnecessary and rude this treatment was, especially when we were simply trying to honor a family member's birthday. A manager came over, not to listen or apologize, but to defend the server's actions with an unprofessional attitude. It honestly felt like he was protecting a personal connection with her rather than addressing our concerns as paying customers. We left feeling completely disrespected. As we walked out, the other group was still seated, undisturbed, and continuing their meal. Good but wildly overpriced and a bit disorganized. First know this place is insanely busy. The wings are good but they aren't THAT good, it appears they are thriving mainly from their name. The wait staff was friendly but we had three different people working with us. We had a table of four, we ordered wings and three appetizers. I was really looking forward to Duff's when traveling to the Buffalo area as I was feeling nostalgic about my visits in the late '80s. Back then, you didn't see chicken wings on the menu at every bar or Korean restaurant, gastro pub wasn't a term, and KFC was likely your option for fried chicken north of Virginia. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was a bit disappointed with my experience at Duff's. First of all, the prices are quite high, and with two orders of 10 wings ($16.99 each), we were given a whopping 3 pieces of celery and 4 baby carrots. Baby carrots should be banned from existence. Blue cheese dressing doesn't adhere to wet, soggy baby carrots. Take a full size fresh garden carrot and cut it by hand! I was scared off by their warning of how hot the medium wings were, so I got the medium light and ended up wishing they had more heat. Oh well. The wings were a decent size, but a bit over cooked for my liking as they were a little dried out. Dousing them in sauce helped compensate for that. The flavor is uniquely Buffalo and was addictively good, though they are tangy and sooooo salty. They might be inedible without a beer, but why would someone even attempt that? I will start this as I always do by saying that I don't give out five stars unless I am really blown away. I have been hearing that this is this best place to get wings. I just happened to pass by it and said I will give it a shot. The place was packed so that was a good sign. The restaurant had a great energy to it. Groups of people talking and laughing. It was pretty load but not in a bad way. The decor was old school wood paneling on the wall with pictures of the restaurant over the years. It is very fitting nothing fancy just like chicken wings. Service: Since I got my food to go I didn't encounter much service, but what I will say is that my food was ready before the time I was told and I appreciated that urgency! The lady at the counter was friendly and I could tell she was smiling under her mask. Food: I ordered 20 wings and I was allowed to split my flavors 4 ways so I got 5 mild, 5 medium, 5 hot & 5 spicy BBQ. The wings were good. I am a true Duff's fan. Will only eat wings when I'm in Buffalo and only from Duff's. I prefer my wings crispy so I like that they have the option to order them xcrispy or xxcrispy. I love spicy but unfortunately my family cannot tolerate the heat so I always order the hot sauce on the side. My boyfriend wishes the wings came in fun flavors like garlic, teriyaki... The fries are good too but are cut too thinly so sometimes they're hard and burnt which I like mine more soggy. The onions rings are a good alternative. This place really is so special and I will never stop raving about it. For background, I had some family coming to Buffalo for the first time and of course I had to take them to Duffs. My boyfriend, who is born and raised in Buffalo, also tagged along to dinner with us. He went inside to grab a table for 4 while I took a picture of my family outside by the sign. While inside, the staff asked my boyfriend where the rest of the party was and he just casually mentioned that we were outside taking a picture since some of us have never been here before. So, we get our table and order our food when all of the sudden we see Santa Claus appear in the back! He walked directly to our table, (and our table alone) said the owner wanted to welcome us, AND handed us gifts! We got 2 bottles of Duffs famous hot sauce, a sweatshirt with a giant bow on it, and a gift card! To say we were surprised would be an understatement.
