This is easily one of the best burgers in San Antonio! The curly fries are also great!

Finally got in to try Wild Barley after seeing in on a Guy Fieri 'Diners and Dives' show. Very much…read moreworth the visit. Service was prompt, and the ambiance is a funky cross between a bakery and a diner. Parking is easy in their private lot. I first tried their 'Texas Style' pastrami Reuben sandwich. This is smoked pastrami brisket, served with on their house-made marbled rye and topped with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and garlic aioli. Quite a bit different than a NYC-style sandwich. The aioli instead of dressing, thicker slices, etc etc. But wow, did it taste good. It's as if a pastrami Reuben and a sliced smoked brisket sandwich had a love child who inherited the best from each parent. I also tried their salmon gravlax on an 'everything' bagel. This bagel was baked in-house, topped with the cured salmon, cream cheese, tomato, red onion, capers, and a sprig of dill. Rustic, beautiful, and delicious. Definite recommend! This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

I think the reason I didnt "love" the pizza is because its so different with the sourdough base and not what i am used to. I would like to return and try a sandwich or something else on the menu. Service was fast and friendly, and the place was clean and welcoming. My main reason for trying out wild barley was because they have sour beers, it wasnt the best sour beer i have ever had, but i have noticed in Texas the sour beers have a strange taste to them that i cant quite put my finger on. Overall though it was refreshing and cold. my husband really enjoyed the cider. We will be back and i hope after trying something different on the menu to change my review to 5 stars,

My friends and I used to love Hanzo because they have great happy hours and amazing drinks. The…read moreservice could be hit or miss but we are never mad about it since it's great to see they are busy but sometimes restaurants can be short-staffed and get overwhelming which is understandable. However, the last visit we had which was on 3/30/26 was quite a letdown. Of course, they were busy so I service was slow but we understood that. The drinks were still amazing and the same as we like. The huge change that was hard to miss was the quality and portions changed significantly. We always sashimi and ramen noodle every time we go there. This time we had to return one of two yellowtail sashimi (I wanted to return both but felt bad to do so). It looked like a scrap. It's really bad. I wish I had a picture of it. It basically looked like small pieces of yellowtail that they piled it up and called it sashimi. The one we kept wasn't much better but at least they were somewhat tolerable. The size of each piece of sashimi is roughly a quarter size and not thicker that 0.5cm. I won't call that sashimi. It's sad to say that I can get a better quality and amount of sashimi when I go to all-you-can-eat places. The ramen noodle size was cut in half. It used to come with nice chunks of pork belly, not anymore. They are small, bite size pieces of pork instead. It also doesn't come with Menma (Pickled Bamboo Shoots) which was used to be in there. However, it still tasted amazing though so we ended up ordering 2 orders of the ramen noodle bowls in order to get the same amount we used to get but now we had to pay double. It's sad when you go to the place often, order the same things all the time but receive something differently. It would be nice if they increased the prices but still keep the quality and portion as it was.

I forgot to take pictures! We got the rolls, ramen and edamame. We got 4 different rolls and they…read morewere all spicy! Beware that the spice level is high... this place is known for drinks likely. It's super dark and loud. Lots of anime on TV if you're interested. Food was decent, I enjoyed the ramen. It is on the smaller portion. They also have a good happy hour menu. Service was adequate, nice waiter. Would be back when in area.

Have came here about 8 times throughout the year. Have had nothing but great experiences…read more I know recently, the news article reported they are struggling to maintain afloat. I'll list pros & cons here and a few suggestions: Pros: -there are plenty of flavors, both their specialty and their 10+ sauce/rub options -indoor seating with a few TVs to watch sports Cons(which in my opinion are issues which can be solved): -because there's lots of flavor options, there is a major holdup in the kitchen. Especially if there's large groups of people eating lunch. We've spent over 45 minutes waiting for our food at times which has caused us to withhold going if we know we have a meeting scheduled after lunch. It's also cutting it close for the hourly workers who have to clock in-clock out for their lunch hour. -there is no "lunch menu", everything is à la carte which can make it a bit pricey. How to solve issues: -downsize menu options. Less items to cook means shorter wait times. -create a lunch menu. This would also speed up the process as well as create a fixed cost. Easily you can spend $20-$25 on lunch when you add fries and a drink. I love wings; this is the best wing spot in town hands down. There are things they can do to improve, we are all pulling for their success!

I had heard about this place from a couple people & recently saw a post from the owner saying the…read morebusiness is not doing well. This prompted a spontaneous trip out here to support a local business. Location & Parking: It is definitely on a weird lot and there is not much space in the lot for parking. We parked across the street but heads up that business will come put a "Do not Park here" Post-It note on your window lol. (There are NO signs that say you can't) Ambiance: When you walk into the main dining room, to your left is the counter for pick up & to-go orders. They do have a nice enclosed outdoor patio that's has plenty of seating. Plenty of indoor seating too. Seating is open, so you can sit wherever you want. Food & Service: We were greeted fairly quickly and given menu and drinks. We ordered the 'Fried Pickles' for an appetizer, these were tasty! And after we received the pickles the service kind of started to lag, and our first server disappeared.. We finally ordered our wings with a new server, which I don't mind waiting but it seemed like a pretty long time. And now for the main course... We split the 'Hot Cheetos', did half 'Cajun Dry Rub' and half 'Citrus Buffalo'. I gotta say we were VERY underwhelmed with the Cheeto and Cajun flavoring. They picture SO well but the flavor is just not there. The Citrus one was the tastier of the 3. The saving grace for our meal was the fact that the actual chicken wing meat was delicious. We paid $40 for everything. Personally, I think they could be very successful in a different location & if they had a Chef tweak their flavor profiles just a tad to give it that depth. I'd hate to see a unique place like this go out of business completely but I understand how other people don't frequent this place.
