Have came here about 8 times throughout the year. Have had nothing but great experiences. I know recently, the news article reported they are struggling to maintain afloat. I'll list pros & cons here and a few suggestions: Pros: -there are plenty of flavors, both their specialty and their 10+ sauce/rub options -indoor seating with a few TVs to watch sports Cons(which in my opinion are issues which can be solved): -because there's lots of flavor options, there is a major holdup in the kitchen. Especially if there's large groups of people eating lunch. We've spent over 45 minutes waiting for our food at times which has caused us to withhold going if we know we have a meeting scheduled after lunch. It's also cutting it close for the hourly workers who have to clock in-clock out for their lunch hour. -there is no "lunch menu", everything is à la carte which can make it a bit pricey. How to solve issues: -downsize menu options. Less items to cook means shorter wait times. -create a lunch menu. This would also speed up the process as well as create a fixed cost. Easily you can spend $20-$25 on lunch when you add fries and a drink. I love wings; this is the best wing spot in town hands down. There are things they can do to improve, we are all pulling for their success! read more

I had heard about this place from a couple people & recently saw a post from the owner saying the business is not doing well. This prompted a spontaneous trip out here to support a local business. Location & Parking: It is definitely on a weird lot and there is not much space in the lot for parking. We parked across the street but heads up that business will come put a "Do not Park here" Post-It note on your window lol. (There are NO signs that say you can't) Ambiance: When you walk into the main dining room, to your left is the counter for pick up & to-go orders. They do have a nice enclosed outdoor patio that's has plenty of seating. Plenty of indoor seating too. Seating is open, so you can sit wherever you want. Food & Service: We were greeted fairly quickly and given menu and drinks. We ordered the 'Fried Pickles' for an appetizer, these were tasty! And after we received the pickles the service kind of started to lag, and our first server disappeared.. We finally ordered our wings with a new server, which I don't mind waiting but it seemed like a pretty long time. And now for the main course... We split the 'Hot Cheetos', did half 'Cajun Dry Rub' and half 'Citrus Buffalo'. I gotta say we were VERY underwhelmed with the Cheeto and Cajun flavoring. They picture SO well but the flavor is just not there. The Citrus one was the tastier of the 3. The saving grace for our meal was the fact that the actual chicken wing meat was delicious. We paid $40 for everything. Personally, I think they could be very successful in a different location & if they had a Chef tweak their flavor profiles just a tad to give it that depth. I'd hate to see a unique place like this go out of business completely but I understand how other people don't frequent this place. read more

I'm so glad we found this hidden gem when we were looking for lunch places close to the Airport. The mozzarella sticks were super super good. Bottom Left: Chili Pineapple Coconut were super tasty Bottom right: Butter Garlic Parmesan was probably my least favorite of the 4 we got but it still tasted good. Top Left: Mango Habanero was hot.... But the flavor of it was amazing. If you can stand the heat this is definitely one to try. Top Right: Buffalo Hot was super tasty. Was a bit tired and hungry after staying up most of the night watching election results (11/05/2024). Had no desire to eat "in" anywhere but was concerned with "to go" wings. I tried to place an order on their app., however it wasn't working so I called in an order. Girl on the phone was a little clueless on how to accept a discount code (sent to me via e-mail from the restaurant). Didn't care - I wanted wings! Down to the wings! That is all that really matters right? We ordered crispy with medium buffalo sauce - all flats. Got them home and dug in. The skin was not crispy at all but the bones were. Maybe a result of the sauce sitting on them waiting for pick-up. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Will eat in next time as - while I waited - some other guests gave a thumbs up. I'm part of the R.O.A.R. networking group and I coordinated for the group to meet at Revolutionary Wings. It was in the right area and they have plenty to offer. My friend, Belinda, and I shared the Texas Pimento Cheese and Chicharrones. We both loved it so much that we finished everything! Belinda even ordered one to go. I had unsweetened tea and Belinda had sweet tea. I ordered 10-piece wings with the Carolina BBQ and Sticky Thai Coconut flavors. Sergio tried and liked the Hot Cheetos Wings. This place it feels homey, it was nicely decorated yet simple. We visited during the weekend and it was pretty busy yet, we got great Services. I was impressed with a quality and size of the wing. How did I not know about this place before today? Found it because it was close to a meeting I had around lunchtime and couldn't have been more pleased and surprised. The outside of the restaurant is very misleading. I was thinking "hole in the wall" but when you come inside it was actually clean and had ample tables. Parking is limited in the front, but extra spaces are behind the building. It was hard to decide from the range of choices, but I ended up trying 3 flavors of wings. The Honey Habanero, Carolina BBQ and Honey Saracha. All three were amazing. Hot, sweet and then tangy was a great combination. While my mouth was on fire from the Habanero, I could still enjoy the taste of the other two. The breading and sauces are made fresh and are something special. My only recommendation is for the owner to provide a larger ranch dipping sauce dish. It was a bit small and you will pay extra for another dip. The staff was friendly and served the tables often. I'm definitely going back to try the Chimichurri wings, because I can't stop thinking about it. I might even try the banana pudding cup, or the tres leches cake to top the experience. read more

While searching for a "non chain" wing shop/restaurant we came across "revolutionary wings". I've mentioned before, that my husband loves wings so we decided to give it a try! When we arrived it wasn't too crowded but slowly got more traffic. We noticed they are understaffed and later we found out from one of the owners that they had just recently opened this brick & mortar. They used to be a food truck. We chatted for a bit with her (owner) and she shared that her husband is also a wing lover (from New York) that decided to create a unique take on wings (flavors). Their menu is definitely very unique in terms of flavors! They make everything fresh to order so it did take a bit to receive our order. The fried pickles & jalapeño chips were the highlight for me! Let me preface this by saying I am from Buffalo, NY and had very low expectations reading reviews. I was WRONG, this is a gem and a place I will return every chance I get. Alright....so I went based on my tradition of visiting non-chain, locally owned restaurants on my visits to San Antonio. The strategy has never failed me, with a lil help from yelp, and once again.....I struck gold. Had three different flavors of wings, (Ghost Pepper dry rub, Honey Mustard dry rub, and Chimichurri specialty rub) and I ordered my wings extra crispy, and all flats on the Chimichurri. I had to pack, so I took them to my hotel to go..... .......and let me tell you, THE FOOD IS OUTSTANDING! The wings were cooked exactly as I ordered them. The seasoning/sauce coatings were applied evenly and the flavors were there. There was no doubt which was which. Dont be afraid of the Ghost pepper, as it's very tame, yet present enough to give you a good tongue tingle. Curly fries were good, and the ranch and blue cheese were good. This business is locally owned, I believe by the couple that were cooking and serving (in not sure), but you can tell this food is prepared with Love, and the menu was created by wing and flavor lovers. When you come just fyi not the best parking situation so try to avoid going during a busy time. The waitress was nice but it took forever to get service. We sat downed waited for menu and then they forgot to take our drink order. After we order it took FOREVER to come which is totally fine because that's how you know it's fresh. Our wings were great! While waiting for my flight to board from DFW today I found this place on yelp and decided to give a try. My wife and son picked me up from the airport and took the short drive there. Once inside we got seated immediately and were greeted by our super friendly waitress. My wife ordered the Honey Garlic Sriracha and Sticky Thai Coconut. Both were amazing but the Honey Garlic Sriracha were my absolute favorite. I opted to go for the Honey Habanero and Buffalo Medium. The Habanero packed a lot of good flavor with a perfect amount of heat. Now the Buffalo sauce was spot on and definitely tastes better than anywhere I've tried before. This place ranks very high on my list and it was an absolute pleasure speaking with the owner this evening. We will be back to try some of the other flavors they offer. read more

While combing through the Culinaria 2024 menus I was surprised to see a wing place on the roster. It sounded interesting so I decided to check out this hidden gem close to the airport. The menu has all types of unique wings like ancho coffee, PB &J and black garlic butter. For the sake of Culinaria I selected the mole option. The wings had a smoky flavor mixed with the sweetness of pineapple garnish. For a starter I decided on the corn chowder, which ended up being my favorite. It had a creamed corn flavor with a kick. I couldn't pass up the pimento cheese dish even though it wasn't part of the Culinaria menu. As a southern girl I usually eat the cheese with butter crackers, but this version was served with chicharrones. I would never have thought to serve those together, but it works. For dessert I selected the ambrosia since it's nice to see that dish making a comeback. I was hoping for more marshmallow fluff, but this was a more soupy version. Overall it still had good flavor. We've been craving some good wings. Wings that were fried more crispy than most places offer. We were on our way for shopping and happened to pass RW right as we were discussing lunch options. We turned the car around and headed back. The service was prompt and very informative. They let us know pretty much everything is house made: breads, sauces, fries, pickles, seasonings. We ordered the black garlic wings and the PB&J wings. Both were cooked perfect and absolutely delicious. While they are pricier than what I would normally seek out for wings, it was 110% worth it. They do take about 20 minutes to make wings--worth it, but a heads up! So delicious! I'm really not a big wing eater but I was nearby and looking for a quick lunch option besides fast food. I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. Next I ordered the 10 piece wings with 1/2 Honey Garlic Sriracha and 1/2 Carolina BBQ.. both were made perfectly and tasted great. I also had a side of curly fries. The fries were tasty, but it was obvious they were sitting under a heat lamp for some time before being served, hence the minus a star. The only other thing to add is that getting our food took a considerable amount of time and could be a big problem for someone on a short lunch break... maybe they were short a cook.. since the food was good, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. I found out Revolutionary Wings is struggling for business so I paid this place a visit. It's located in a side street minutes away from the airport. I walked in and was told that I could sit anywhere. There were only a few people inside. A waitress came to my table and took my drink order for sweet tea,which was good. I took some time to decide what to order. They have a great selection of wing flavors. I ordered a 6 piece of the Jamaican jerk wings that came with tostones. I ordered a 5 piece of hot Buffalo and a side order of tostones. The tostones came with a garlic dipping sauce and they were good. Revolutionary Wings is the only wing place I've been to that serves tostones as a side. The Buffalo Wings weren't too mild or hot, just right. The jerk Wings were good too and had a lot of heat. The owner came by my table and made small talk with me and I told him I enjoyed everything. The service was friendly too and much better than the kind I got at Pluckers, BW3 and Wing Daddy's. They didn't have much of a dessert selection other than brownies and chocolate chip cookies but I can get those anywhere. I definitely recommend Revolutionary Wings. You won't regret it.
