Me and my wife went to Boiling Point for dinner tonight. This was not our first time dining here, but the service we received today was disappointing. The employee Brenda, who took our order was very impatient and rude. She seemed like she was trying to rush us through our order, and her attitude made the entire experience uncomfortable. Honestly, by the end of it, I was so put off by the service that even the food didn't taste as good as it normally does. What made it worse was that it felt like we were being treated differently from the guests sitting next to us. She was friendly and had a completely different attitude toward them, while she was noticeably cold and rude toward us. What's especially frustrating is that we didn't do anything to cause this, we simply walked in, sat down, and were ready to order. In case anyone wonders, this location close at 9pm and I was there at 8pm so isn't event close to last call or last second ordering. I tried the Korean Bean Paste hot soup as I haven't had this one before. There was kimchi, beef, rice cakes, assortment of veggies, the classics BP fish cake, and ramen. They definitely did not skimp on the produce. However, I wasn't too impressed with the soup base. It was very mildly flavored so I added some of the complimentary sauces to add more taste, but it did take away from the original flavor. I always ask for less cabbage because sometimes they load it up and there's barely any meat -- especially if you're paying for extra beef. This Boiling Point is probably the smallest location you'll find. The tables are very close together, making it uncomfortable to sit here--you're only about half an arm's length away from the next table. It definitely feels cramped inside. I came here with a friend to take advantage of a deal where you get a free drink and appetizer for completing a survey at the end of the meal. However, the deal was limited to one use per table. We ordered our hot pots, a pork belly in garlic sauce as the appetizer, and an Assam oolong tea. Because the table was so small, fitting everything we ordered felt like a game of Tetris. The tea at 50% sweetness tasted a bit light. The garlic pork belly, however, was actually good, and the hot pots were tasty as usual. The staff members were patient in answering my questions about the deal and were generally attentive to our needs. Parking is usually easy, as there's a parking lot across the street about half a block away. Because of its proximity to my home and the quality of the food, I tend to overlook the space issue and continue coming back to this Boiling Point. read more

The perfect lunch after an eventful morning! We came here to eat lunch on a hot day and was pleasantly surprised with the nice AC and good food. We both ordered beef soups and were planning on giving the kid some too. Our waitress surprised us with a complimentary udon noodle soup with bok choy! My friends claimed this location is the BEST out of all the Boiling Point locations and I can finally see why. I got seafood and both of my friends got the Taiwanese spicy. On our most recent visit, we sat for almost ten minutes without anyone helping us. The restaurant was practically empty--maybe five other diners total--yet one server kept telling us he'd be "right with us," while another walked by multiple times saying "someone will help you soon." Meanwhile, we had been ready to order for a long time. The female server who eventually approached us was shockingly rude, which was such a major turn-off on top of everything else. The overall environment hasn't fared much better. The floors feel sticky and greasy, the chairs are uncomfortable, and the space just doesn't have the clean, inviting atmosphere it once did. It honestly makes me sad to say all this because I genuinely love Boiling Point--this location just isn't what it used to be. We wanted Very Vermicelli instead of rice. The server gave us three bowls of rice, and I informed her that we chose the Very Vermicelli. The server dumps the rice to the rice cooker and serves us the Very Vermicelli. We received two free cold dishes, which were frozen and still tasted like ice inside the vegetables, which was not very pleasant. When our three pots arrived at our table, I couldn't believe they were so small and cost between $22 and $23 per pot... Although the soup has nice flavors, I believe it is too costly. If I had known how small the pots were, we could have paid a few more dollars for an all-you-can-eat hot pot meal somewhere else. The bill came up to $77 for three pots.
