I like this spot. It's a cute little fast food joint specifically for dumplings..and you can't ever go wrong with dumplings. The deals are good here. It's $3.50 for 6 dumplings and they're pretty filling. They also have different platters here as well. The platters could be a bit better, since I ordered a chicken and rice platter in which I got a lot more rice with a handful of grilled chicken pieces on it. The grilled chicken was decent though so I can't complain too much about it. The dumplings themselves taste pretty good here too, but I've only tried the steamed ones. I can imagine how good the fried dumplings could be though! I'll probably stop by here again to try out some other dishes. read more

Gotta say, I was reading through some of the more negative reviews here and boy, do we have some real dumpling aficionados on Yelp/Sunnyside. Every one is entitled to their opinions (especially on Yelp because if not then... why bother reviewing? lol) but its as if people think this place is a Michelin Star restaurant. I come here often with my girlfriend (who is super selective on what she eats) and we both really enjoy it here. The price is right, the food tastes great, interior is comfortable enough for a quick meal, area is always clean (bathroom is clean too), and the employees are nice. We almost always order the scallion pancakes, along with dumpling and noodle soup or the braised beef noodle soup. The scallion pancakes come out crispy, warm, and tastes great. Could they be thicker/fluffier with bigger pieces of scallion? Sure! But they taste great to us as is. I actually wish they offered the beef stuffed version as well. The noodle soups are flavorful with the braised beef having a super soft texture and flavorful texture. My girlfriend gets the pork & chives while I get the chicken, shrimp, & cilantro variety. Both taste great. People complain that they lack flavor, are mushy, filled with meat paste (?), etc etc. Call it a difference of opinion or maybe they truly dropped the ball that time but in our experience, it couldn't be further from the truth. We always get ramen noodles and my only complaint is that sometimes they can be overcooked so the noodles are very soft as opposed to firm (al dente). They have a fairly small menu but I haven't branched out to the rice dishes or desserts. We like what we order and we will continue to come here, regardless of what the very negative reviews say. read more

Delicious, hearty dumplings, but a little overpriced. Ordered the steamed pork & chives, fried pork & cabbage, and fried beef & kimchi. Ingredients are all fresh and all the dumplings are obviously made by hand. If you want some hearty, home-cooking style dumplings then this is a pretty sweet spot. read more

The beef and pork belly baos were great, extremely tender and tasty. The dumpling meat was hard as a rock, it tasted as if it was over worked in the mixing process. The scallion pancake was burnt and the sauce that came with it was toooooooo SALTY. It was as if it was salt sauce. read more

What an amazing place! And incredibly affordable! We ordered chicken shrimp and cilantro dumplings and beef noodle soup and only spent like 10 bucks. All three important elements of a great bowl of beef noodle soup are realized with surprise: high quality meat rendered very tender and flavorful, light and tasty soup and homemade noodle with a nice texture. We really loved the dumpling soup with the noodles. The broth was perfect especially for a cold winter day. We weren't too crazy about the shrimp, cilantro, and chicken dumplings. They tasted a bit bland. My only suggestion to the owners is to get rid of the plastic utensils and the Styrofoam containers. It is not only wasteful, but It is uncomfortable to eat a hot noodle soup with a small plastic spoon. Also, us Sunnyside residents are very conscious of the environment. read more

As other reviewers have suggested, there's a lot of hype about this place. We went once and got a ton of dumplings and buns. The dumplings weren't that special; they didn't have a ton of flavor, but I'm willing to bet that they're much more delicious pan fried than steamed. The buns were good; pork belly was the clear winner. The soup bowls looked amazing and we wished we had ordered one. I think this could be a 5 yelp star place, I just gotta order the right stuff next time. read more

Warning: this place is cash only. Luckily there is a chase one block away. I really like the trendy vibe of the restaurant. I come here quite often as it is near my job therefore I have tried several items on the menu (menu list is quite limited but that's fine with me). I liked the broth and noodles part of their dumpling noodle soup however the dumpling itself was flavorless and an oddly thick texture. I've tried their house special fried rice which tastes yummy at first however can feel quite greasy (possible due to the Chinese sausage they use). I don't think I like their pork either, the meat is tender but seems fake ( I could be wrong). Don't feel like they use fresh ingredients but overall I tend to come back because the prices are fair (most items are around 7 bucks) and the taste is good enough. I haven't seen the place crowded yet however I tend to go from 11pm-4pm. read more

Okay, so the place is clean, and the dumplings are pretty good. I'm giving one star for each! On one hand, I'm glad we have a dumpling place in Sunnyside. We don't have a whole bunch of options for good dumplings. That's why it makes me even sadder to say that this is NOT one of those good options. Yes, the price is right, and yes, they have a good variety on the menu, but the actual product doesn't deliver. :/ As others have said, the dough is way too thick. And the filling lacks flavor. So does the dipping sauce, and they don't give you much of it. Also, it takes quite awhile to get your order fulfilled. (They only do takeout--NO delivery.) We've come here on numerous occasions because I'll usually try to give a place a few tries. Every time, it takes close to 20 minutes to get our order. And no, it's not because there is a long line. We usually walk right up to the register to place our order and then wait ~20 minutes. That just seems like a bit long for takeout. And the longer wait might be more bearable if the folks at the register were friendly. Each time, we've encountered someone who does not seem to enjoy being there. I understand that everyone has a bad day now and again, but this seems to be a pattern here. In my book, friendliness can actually counteract sub-par food and a long wait! I have hope Dumplings & Things could get better--if they take a look at that thick dough and also the unfriendly folks at the register. Maybe we'll give it another go on down the line. For now, we'll stick to options that have more flavor and more smiles. read more

This place is great! I live right around the corner and was strolling around the neighborhood looking for a place to get some dinner. I walked by this place and I remembered reading about it, it looked good so I figured I'd give it a shot. Nice, clean look inside with plenty of seating. I decided to try two different orders of dumplings and a noodle dish. It was all fantastic! The dumplings are amazing and the noodle dish (braised beef) was great as well. I'm definitely adding this place to my very short list of regular take-out places in the neighborhood and will be back soon. read more

First time trying this place out. Made three order. 1)Thai ice tea = very good as my partner said "it's very similar to the one in a plastic bag in thailand" 2) pork and shrimp dumping = medium size, stiff (you ll get a full meal once it expand in you stomach) and not alot of flavor. 3) beef stew noodle soup = noodle was very good on the soft side, the Shanghai bokchoy was under cook, soup base was ok, and the beef stew? well...the first thing came to mind when I put it in my mouth...I remember my old man telling me when I was learning to cook and he would say "does your family own a salt farm?" When my meal came out salty and this beef stew must had came back from the salt farm. I will try again on other items but not anytime soon. read more

Seeing a dumpling house in sunnyside seems pretty exciting. I have passed by a couple of times and it always looks pretty busy and now I see why. I'm not really a big fan of dumplings but my sister is, she is a regular now. I ordered the scallion pancakes and must admit I'm in love, very fresh crunchy, and warm. Waited less than 10 minutes. These are, hands down, the best dumplings I've ever had! The pork and chive are my favorite. These are made fresh while you wait, no doughy, frozen cheap stuff here! The dumplings are bursting with filling and the shell is thin and delicious. A must try!! read more

The wonton soup was very good and authentic. My boyfriend and I only tried the pan fried dumplings, they were okay but very doughy. The spicy beef kimchi dumpling was not spicy at all and barely tasted the kimchi. Seating was limited so I would recommend getting it take out instead. I ordered two kinds of fried dumplings: pork and kimchi, and beef and chives. I honestly could not tell you which was which once I got my order. All I can say is one of them was disgusting. The other was mediocre. I was very disappointed. I LOVE fried dumplings and do not have high standards for them. The problem with these was that it had too much filling so the ratio was not pleasant. I lived in China for 2 years and the house special fried rice and Chinese greens are very wonderful. Dumplings are delicious but I guess not authentic. Best are spicy beef and kimchi.
