Cash Only Restaurant, I came across this Restaurant by chance, when I had a crave for Peruvian food next door. My intention on that day was to go to this Peruvian Rest, order me some delicious Peruvian chicken with Rice and Beans and a cup of Chica. For some reasons, I was not a 100% committed on wanting to eat Peruvian, probably I had it so many times and on that day I was feeling adventurous to try someting different in the neighborhood and lucky me, I stumble on this restaurant. Outside is unique, as the Rest. is called Dumplings and Things. I tried dumplings in the past from different places, but the name of the this place caught my attention. So I step in. At first, I was surprised with the menu. It was simple and serve only a selection of dishes. Noodles, Rice, Dumplings and Bao... unlike standard restaurant menu, this restaurant has a huge menu written in chalk on the wall in front of the kitchen and cashier. A unique setup. While the restaurant gives good appealing and feeling where a customer is welcome, I came here for good food. My first chose is Ramen or Noodles soup and they offered it on their menu. I asked what's the recommended dish, and was advised to try the braised beef or pork belly noodle soup. So, my first choice was Pork Belly noodle soup. I had expected to tasted like Ramen Pork Belly, but this is not. This pork belly tasted like sweeten soyed pork, pan fried, given a a delicious taste. The in-house wheat noodle I find them on the soft the side of texture for noodles. It's not perfect, but I give a good overall noodle. The noodle while is made in-house, is not pull perfect compare to the pull noodles I had tried in the past. The noodle tasted really good. There's no comparison in the neighborhood that offer this wonderful flavor. While I may praise the good food, I do find there are rooms for improvement which may may enhance my experience of this already delicious noodle soup next time. I think they need to service the noodle with a good soup spoon, not some cheezy plastic spoons. I love to have a whole egg or fried egg in my soup, because it was my first time there, I didn't noticed the menu is written on the wall not on their paper menu, fried eggs for $1.00 extra to any dishes. I wish they are better informed with their customer on menu or verbally. And items I find it missing when eating this type of noodles is the "Ma La" - hot spices that meant for noodles and not the sriracha that is sitting on the table. I don't like my noodle with Siracha, it ruins it. So, I ate my noodle, one squirt at a time on the plastic spoon, instead, I would see a small sauce plate with hot noodle spices and that would make the whole experience to another level up. Dumplings and Soups is what they have. It's cheap and conformable inside. It's very clean. Good spot for the neighborhood if u want something small to eat on the go. I don't think they do delivery but a lot of times it's just easy just to walk in and get it to go. You really don't wait long. read more

The baos are great, the dumplings are delicious, but the braised beef noodles are made with the same beef as the baos and they are OVERLY salted and I guess just braised for way too long. Cute idea, and a style of restaurant that the neighborhood totally needs, but execution is a bit off the mark. The pork dumplings always taste a bit too much of Chinese Five Spice, and always come out looking a little under cooked for my liking (bright pink pork is off putting to me). The shrimp and chicken dumplings are usually very appealing, but at times their texture can feel a bit off. Didn't care for steamed greens, or even any of the rice dishes we have tried here. I would like to rate this 3.5 so a full 4 it is since I'm not able to give half ratings. This spot was a much need addition to Sunnyside seeing as how we don't have a dumpling/soup eatery. I would love to see a consistency in quality Pork Belly Soup, sometimes the meat tastes fresh other times not so much. I really like the simple menu, ordering and dining. Hmmmm......I don't see what the hub hub is all about. I've had better. If you know of China Fun on 65th or 64th and 2nd in Manhattan, theirs are what dumplings should be. Dumpling & Things dumplings were not moist and tender inside. The filling was not full of gelatinous goodness from added collagen that when heated becomes a little flavor conveying lake. There also was not enough seasonings. I pray all the time for great Asian Food to come to Woodside, but it still eludes us. I haven't gone to Flushing for Chinese, but I hear it's best to still keep getting on the 7 to get your fix of good food.......One day my dumpling prince will come to Woodside, but that day is not today. read more

I was so excited to try out this place because who doesn't love dumplings? Sadly, I regretted it. We got some dumplings and pork noodles to go. The dumplings were way too bland for the expensive price and the pork noodles actually had one of us with stomach issues for an entire day. You only get one tiny sauce cup for your dumplings. Really? A grade for food. C for service. I'll start off by saying that I've never witnessed (or my nose has never witnessed?) the garbage smell of which other reviewers complain. Then continue on to say the food is very good- I highly recommend the fried rice, and bao buns. Also I'm full on addicted to the garlicky cucumber salad. However don't come in, expecting a friendly smile. The lady at the till must be having a permanent bad time in life. At first I thought it was me but every customer I've see her interact with is the same. I work in retail and I get having off days but yikes! That being said she never messes up orders or charges incorrectly or anything like that she just really seems to hate dealing with people. Dumplings and Things is my occasional go to spot! I love their small bites and they are super cheap!! Their melt in your mouth pork belly buns hits the spot when youre craving something salty and light. The store is also very cute and dainty but enough to fit two or four people in a seat. Went back here for a second time, months later after the first time I went when they first opened. This second time was much better. I went at like 8:30pm on a Monday so it wasn't packed like last time which was like afternoon on the weekend. I got the braised beef noodles. Didn't take too long, unlike the first time. I didn't realize how cheap it was too at only - $6.50 for the noodles with beef. The taste was amazing! The beef is so tender and slightly sweet. This paired with the ramen style noodles and the refreshing traditional chinese green vegetables was a perfect combination. The taste is amazing and the price is really cheap! I have to come here more often and the neighborhood needs more cool places like this. I also like that there are no waiters. read more
